Review Summary
based on 49 ratings. 49 user reviews.
Back with an impressive new design and mind-blowing new graphics, the Voodoo is THE lightweight option for youth players this season! The Voodoo's supremacy begins at the handle where DeMarini introduces a new composite material this season called TR3 Strut Composite. With TR3, DeMarini seeks to replicate the triangular structure of a crystal, as that is what helps make crystals one of the toughest and most stable compounds on earth. TR3 Composite is strong, stable, and predictable - without any unnecessary weight. This handle is designed to efficiently transfer power from your hands to the barrel giving players balance and consistency with every swing. The barrel of the Voodoo is constructed with DeMarini's SC4 Alloy. This alloy provides a thickness tuned wall that extends the entire length of the barrel contributing to a wickedly hot and insanely durable sweetspot! The Voodoo also features Half and Half Technology that redistributes weight to give the bat optimal balance. This is extremely beneficial to younger players as it gives them the ability to swing faster with less effort; ultimately resulting in more power! DeMarini: Insane Dedication to Performance! The Voodoo is approved for play in all major youth leagues. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Bought this bat (29"/16oz) as a gift for my son who already has a (28"/15oz)2011 Voodoo and I could tell a difference right away. First thing I noticed was that this bat sounds like a fire cracker but the best part is that it isn't all bark he is hitting it noticeably further. His coaches couldn't help but say wow at the next practice at how well and far he was driving the ball. Worth every penny!
Cons: none yet, aside from the other boys wanting to use it.
by DemariniBoy - May 17, 2011

Pros: Just bought this bat for my 9yr old son. This bat is top of the line from fit to finish. Bought 29"16oz. Great pop -- Great grip. Also has an awsome sound!! It has that beautiful ping sound. You will not go wrong with this bat....I doubt we will see a review under 5 stars. Highly recommend!
Cons: None
by djmas - Jul 01, 2011
Pros: love the bat. Picked it up for my son who just turned 9. Went with the Voodoo because it was a -13 and wanted the extra length to help cover the plate. He absolutely loves it! Thanks so much!
Cons: Awesome paint scheme that you don't want to use the bat and get it dirty!!!
by Future LSU dad - Jun 03, 2011
Pros: I just bought the 28"-15 oz for my 6.5 year old son. He has always hit the ball hard but it seemed like the ball should jump off his old bat better. The new voo doo has given him that extra pop! His line drives are rockets and the pop ups carry further too. This is my first review ever! I had to pass the word to another dad. I know the bat doesn't make the batter but it makes them better!!
Cons: NONE so far. Great bat!
by Satisfied customer - Jun 09, 2011
Pros: Light and well balanced, with big sweet spot and pop. Stepped up from Louisville Slugger Omaha for my 8-year old son and noticed immediate difference in both batting practice and games. Ball sounds great off the bat and travels farther, and bat looks great as well. Spend the extra money and get the voodoo; you won't be disappointed.
Cons: None. Wish I would have bought this bat sooner.
by allstar - Jun 11, 2011
Pros: best bat ever! really good pop. well balanced. looks cool too. ball explodes off this bat.
Cons: none what so ever
by Calsmom - Sep 06, 2011
Pros: I recently purchased this bat for my 10yr old son and he loves it. I took him out to the batting cages the day after he received & right out of the box he was hitting as if he had had it for quite a while. He said he loves this more than the new CF5. Great service as well!!!!
Cons: None, except that this bat is so nice looking he didn't want to use it at first.
by showtime - Jun 20, 2011
Pros: just got this bat today. It has very nice grip, excellent pop, and has a system on top of the bat so you hit all parts of the bat equally.
Cons: The bat seems too cool and impressive looking to use!!!
by Rob - Sep 23, 2011
Pros: Our league restricts full composite bats, this one satisfies their restrictions. Lightweight allowing bat to be an inch longer for more plate coverage.
Cons: Can't think of any
by j-mil - Sep 21, 2011
Pros: Love the way it looks and swing speed is crazy quick. My team mates have hit solid line drives with it also. The ball pops off the sweet spot with a bang contact is undeniable loud

by 808 state - Feb 19, 2012
Pros: We bought the bat 2 weeks ago and my son has yet to put it down. Great weight and feel. He has been doing much better at batting practice and went 3/3 on our last game. Very happy with bat performance so far. Graphics are pretty sweet too.
Cons: Everyone wants to use it
by The Dominator - Feb 19, 2012
Pros: Bought 29/16 bat to help my son improve his bat speed. ( He was using a 30/18 big barrel. Too long & heavy) Immediately we saw an improvement in his swing speed. Not behind the ball anymore. Have only used it in batting cages. Can't wait to see it in a game. Great ping sound! Cool graphics!
Cons: A little pricey
by HAWAII VOODOO BUILT - Mar 11, 2012
Pros: This Bat by Far is worth every dollar, we bought the bat because of the -13 /29 . Weight distribution is great and the bat has a nice sweet spot. You will not regret buying the Voodoo , The composite material on the handle doesn't give my son that "shock" effect when hitting those inside and outside pitches!! He loves it and so does the rest of the team!!!
Cons: My son doesn't get called by his first name anymore. They call him the "VOODOO!"
by fsrt - Jan 22, 2012
Pros: best bat i hit
Cons: awesome feel

Pros: Very Nice Bat. I Would Highly Recommend!
Cons:
by coachmm - Feb 21, 2012
Pros: Got this bat for my son who is a small 9 year old. I purchased the 29/16 model after last years 28/15 wasn't heavy enough to work through the harder thrown balls. this years version has more pop than last years model and really rewards the contact hitter with a harder hit ball. Even when he's faced faster pitching, the line drives are hit over the inf's head instead of at them, the ground balls have more sizzle and are harder to field, and even when he mis-hits and pops it up, it goes farther and higher. If you have a smallish kid or averaged size kid who has a beautiful swing, BUY THIS BAT! It's worth every penny. If your kid is bigger than most and is a power hitter, I would recommend a bat with a lower drop. (-11 or -10)
Cons: None
by J-Rod - Feb 21, 2012
Pros: This bat is a beast. It sounds like a firecracker going off. My son absoutely loves it. Do yourself (or your child) a favor and buy this bat!!
Cons:
by Sean - Mar 27, 2012
Pros: Simply the best bat on the market. I bought this bat for my 8 year old 28/15 and he is simply cracking the ball with unreal bat speed. Ball is flying faster than the composites. Buy this bat!
Cons: None
by triplecrown boy - Mar 31, 2012
Pros: Sick bat. Has very good pop. I bought 30 in 17 oz . Already feel pop in there. Beast bat!!!! Buy this bat, you won't regret it!
Cons: Nothing but everyone wants to use it!!!
by BaseballJUSTRocks - Apr 17, 2012
Pros: Good pop Consistent across barrel So far so good, still only a few weeks old, will see in a month or so if it deserves a 5 STAR, too early to tell right now.
Cons: Still get stung occasionly.
by PDXCoachXXXL - Apr 19, 2012
Pros: Bought the 32"/19oz for my 5"4 150lb 11 yr old. All I can say is..its a monster..The bat too..not just my son. The ball explodes of this bat. Simple contact and the bat does the rest. You wont believe it until you swing this bad boy for yourself. Its worth every penny. DeMarini does it again.
Cons: None. Well maybe that every kid on the team wants to use it..and maybe that the paint is so wicked i hate to scratch it.

Cons: The price is a little high but its worth it.

Cons:
by da bomb - Feb 27, 2012
Pros: to many to type
Cons: there are none
by Little League Dad - Apr 27, 2012
Pros: Wicked looking bat. Immediately gave my son extra confidence when he held it. Very balanced and lightweight which helped my son's bat speed. Ready to go out of the box but seemed really seasoned after a couple of weeks. He is 8 years old, tall for his age but not very strong or would have gotten the big barrel option. Chose the 30" length due to his height. Has held up really good so far. Definitely recommend highly.
Cons: Almost too good looking to use.
by giants rule - Apr 26, 2012

Cons: sick graphics as you can see
by Anonymous - Apr 01, 2012
Pros: 9 Y/O son loved the look and feel of the bat.
Cons: The bat split after a few days of regular use. He had 2 practices, 1 hour of BP, and 1 game - and he then realized that the bat was split with the center of the split being between the top of the handle and bottom of the barrel. Very disappointed in this product with the amount of money spent. Read other reviews of possible DeMarini bats splitting and chose to hope it wouldn't happen. I strongly advise to stay away from this bat and other DeMarini bats until they figure out what the problem is and rectify it.
by big ben - Apr 02, 2012

Ask QuestionA notice that the 2012 Voodoo is not BBCOR certified, but the 2013 Voodoo is. Does the BBCOR affect the amount of "pop" the bat will have? If so, which will have more pop, 2012 or 2013?
Asked by derek on Apr 30, 2012
Since this 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a youth bat, neither the 2012 or 2013 model is BBCOR Certified (which is only for adult bats). The only major difference between the 2012 and 2013 is the change from SC4 Alloy to X10 Alloy on the barrel. You might see a slight increase in pop in the newer version, but the pop on the Voodoo is very similar year to year.

My son is on a travel baseball league and he tried a Vendetta from 2010 that is 31/18 -13 with the bigger long barrell. He hits excellent with that but I can not find it anywhere. I'm trying to find a comperable bat to that one, what would you recommend?
Asked by tracy on Apr 28, 2012
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo would be very comparable to the 2010 Vendetta.

I recently bought a batting cage and this bat for my son. I was wondering if their is a problem with using the yellow dipple batting cage balls with this bat in the cage? What do you suggest?
Asked by Pando on Apr 25, 2012
We do not recommend using your 2012 DeMarini Voodoo in a batting cage that uses dimpled cage balls. They are very dense and, with repeated use, can damage the Voodoo's alloy barrel and shorten its lifespan. We recommend using real baseballs in your pitching machine or a bat dedicated only to cage work.

My son is presently using a 29" 20oz Limb Saver. He just turned 9. Weighs 105 and is 4'-8" tall. Not heavy set, just built like a brick. So a tall 9 year old. I was looking at the Voodoo 31" 18 oz. Thoughts? Feel he needs something longer, but worried about too much bat weight.
Asked by B3 on Apr 11, 2012
Based on your son's height and weight, the suggested size for him is a 30" bat. However, if he feels comfortable swinging a 31", he could certainly go with that size as well. The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a great bat and should be a good option for your son.

When you say the Voodoo is better for a contact hitter what do you mean? Bigger sweet spot with the Voodoo?
Asked by smooth on Feb 14, 2012
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is good for contact hitters because it is a two-piece design. A two-piece design is good for contact hitters because it has more flex than a one-piece and will create a whip like effect for the hitter, thus helping them generate power. Whereas a one-piece design is going to be pretty stiff and help power hitters.

My son is 7 now but last year used the 28 in 16 oz Voodoo model. His swing was always slow. At the end of the season I got him a batting lesson and they said it was too big for him. Do you think the bat I have would be good for him this year? He is 7 yrs old 54 inches tall and weighs about 55 lbs.

Alloy sounds like it may be the way to go, and 31" 18oz. is not too big of a jump and would seem suit your son fine.

Comparing this Voodoo to the Easton S2 or S3. Son is 4ft 7, 65 pounds, 10 yrs old. Has really fast hands, so I want a fast bat, without the sting (his last bat was bad at that). Thoughts? Is there a better bat than those?
Asked by noplay on Jan 09, 2012
Both the Easton S2 and the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo are great two-piece bats that are going to have great bat speed with some flex. The Easton S3 is a one-piece bat and a little stiffer and better for a power hitter.

Asked by Carcoop on Dec 27, 2011
If he is required to use the youth small barrel, with his size, I would not go lighter than a -10. And length wise, he should be in about a 30"-31". As to what bat to recommend, I would need to know more info about your son, power hitter or contact? What kind of bat has he been using and how did he like it? Small barrel youth bats will not require a USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp until 2014. There are not youth bats on the market yet that have the stamp. Since it's only 2011, he will be able to use the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo in a USSSA tournament with no issues.

My son is 12 years old and has been swinging a 31" 22 oz. bat in games and practice. Want to buy him a new bat and would like to know what is a good bat that should be legal for next year. Should I purchase a Youth or Senior League bat. I was thinking about a 32" 19 oz. for coverage of the plate and good bat speed. Your help and advice will be greatly appreciated.
Asked by Topcat on Jul 06, 2011
For a 12 year old I would go with a big barrel bat. He will have to use a big barrel bat in high school and he should start using them now. With a big barrel bat, you will have to have a -10 bat. All of out bats that have the 1.15 BPF and USSSA stamp on them will be legal for play this year. All of those bats will have that identified in the bullet points section.

My son is 8 and only weighs 55 lbs, but strong for his size. He currently uses an Omaha big barrel 27" -11 alloy that is not end loaded. He is playing in a few tournaments that will not allow the big barrel and will move to Little League next year that will not allow it. He is a line drive hitter and gets the 16 oz bat through the ball quick. I am trying to find the right fit for him but there are so many bats with good reviews that making a choice is difficult. I have narrowed my search to Voodoo, CAT5 and Omaha YB126. Which do you think has the most pop and will be useable through next year?

The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo will have the most pop out of all these bats and will have the best durability. The 2012 Voodoo will also be eligible for use next year.

· May 16, 2011
I'm looking at the comparison between the DeMarini DXVDL Youth and the Combat Grifter Youth -12 bat. Trying to make a decision which one would you suggest my son is 8 years old he is about 56" tall and weighs about 73lbs which bat would be more balanced for him right now he has the DeMarini Vexxum it is a 29" bat with a 13.5 drop.
Asked by Tyson on May 09, 2011
Based on your son's height and weight, a 30" bat would be recommended. I think moving up to a 30" 17oz. bat would be beneficial for your son and the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo would be an excellent choice. The 30" COMbat Grifter will be an ounce heavier than the 30" Voodoo. I would recommend going to a local sporting goods store and have him take some swings with bats of different weights to see what he is more comfortable with.
