Pros: My 8 year son is hitting the ball harder and further than he ever has. Switched from an Easton SV12, and I see a noticeable difference in his power.
Cons: Expensive bat for a Little League player.
Review Summary

New for 2012! Since 1884, Louisville Slugger has been on the cutting edge of bat technology. This year the TPX line brings a new dimension in performance technology to the table. The EXOGRID2 is one of the most innovative bats to ever hit the market. This bat starts out with Louisville Slugger's SC21 Scandium Alloy which is one of the most durable and responsive alloys on the market. Moving toward the handle you'll find that the metal is trimmed into a grid-like pattern and replaced with carbon composite inserts. These inserts are several times stronger than the metal they replace which gives the EXOGRID2 not only it's name, but it's unwavering durability. Inside the bat, the heart of the EXOGRID2 can be found in the form of an internal carbon composite sleeve. This provides greater handle stiffness than alloy alone ever could. All of these parts are brought together using Louisville Slugger's EXOGRID Bi/Fusion Process, where a combination of heat and extreme pressure bond everything into a single, solid unit. The EXOGRID2 has a 2 1/4 inch barrel and 7/8 inch standard handle with a synthetic grip. It is topped off by Louisville Slugger's patented Pro Cup Endcap. Louisville Slugger: Intimidate at the Plate! The EXOGRID2 is approved for play in Little League, Pony, Dixie, AABC, Babe Ruth, and USSSA. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

by 9 year-old All-Star - Jun 06, 2011
Pros: Our 9 year-old love this bat. He is hitting the ball harder and further than ever this year. We were looking for a CF4 (youth) and the negative comments made us go with the TPX EXOGRID2.
Cons: A bit pricey for a youth bat.
by coach dad - Mar 05, 2012
Pros: looks nice good grip nice pop to it
Cons: During the second game of the season my son hit a triple and left it with a ding it didn't seam like a very hard hit or anything. Afterwards remembering about the warranty I wanted to trade it in but if you read the FINE PRINT ''it doesn't cover small dings and there bats are made of ultra thin walls to maximize performance''. By the way YOU pay shipping for a chance that it might be exchanged. In the end I say it's an ok bat if you got the money to keep buying a new one. cost too much and didn't last very long.
by A-man - May 08, 2012
Pros: Nice pop...
Cons: Terrible quality...full of dents after using in only 2 little league games (7 at-bats). I would not have bought this bat if I'd known. Have used a TPX for two years before this bat, and not one dent in that one. This one is awful
by cano - Apr 23, 2012
Pros: Good pop hits good good grip.
Cons: I had the black one it dented after 2 weeks shiped it off got this one then it got a dent in it after 4 months.

Pros: NONE
Cons: No pop whatsoever. My friend likes it, but that's probably because he always swings and misses.
by their just kids - Jul 28, 2011
Pros: my 9yr old loves this bat. has good pop great balance.
Cons: small sweet spot, price
by Coach Swing Plane - Aug 24, 2011
Pros: Good bat. I picked it up for a good price for my son. It has good pop, a good sweet spot, and he likes the way it swings, and feels on contact.
Cons: The list price. Don't expect your spending $200+ on a bat to turn your child into Harmon Killebrew. A nice bat can slightly help a good hitter, but it's the player who makes the bat...not the other way around. ;)

If you were choosing a bat for your son which would you choose between? EXOGrid2, Voodoo, Combat B4 or the Easton S1? I know they are all good but which will have the best pop?
Asked by Smooth on Feb 20, 2012
That depends on the type of hitter your son is. If he is a stronger power hitter, I would lean towards the Exogrid2 or Combat B4. If he is a contact hitter, I would lean towards the Voodoo or S1. The amount of pop will be different with each bat based on the type of hitter using it.

My son has used the Exodgrid 30" 18.5 oz for the past two years, and loves it. This is his last year in Majors, and at 11 years old, he needs a new 32" bat. How does the Exogrid2 compare to the Demarini Voodoo?
Asked by MichaelZ on Jan 16, 2012
The Exogrid is a great bat. It will be stiffer than the Voodoo which is a two piece bat. Both perform very well.

Big barrel 2 3/4-2 5/8 -10?
Asked by buck on Jan 09, 2012
This bat does not come in a straight -10. The closest to that would be the SL12EX2 which is a -9 2 5/8" barrel.
· Jan 10, 2012
Is this bat available in -10?
Asked by buck on Jan 09, 2012
No. It is only avaialable in a -12 in the youth size. Louisville Slugger does make a -9 in the Youth Big Barrel bat.
· Jan 10, 2012
Would this be a suitable bat for a 13 yr old? He does not need a bbcor and loves exo's
Asked by Ken on Jan 05, 2012
Is he required to use the small barrel? If so, then yes. But if he is allowed to use the big barrel (and with him being 13, that would be my suggestion) then the model you want to look at is the SL12EX2.

Which is the better bat for the money the exogrid2:YB12EX2 or the NanoTek XP: NANOXP12 Youth
Asked by olser on Nov 29, 2011
Both are going to be the top of the line for each of the different manufacturer's. It really will come down to personal preference.

will these bats be legal in 2012 in dixie youth
Asked by skip on Sep 09, 2011
These bats should be legal for Dixie Youth next year. This bat has an aluminum barrel, so it should be legal for most leagues.

My 9 year old (4'58lbs) says 29/17oz Exo is lighter then his 28/16oz Omen. Looking for longer bat for outside corner (lefty)...only concern is should we consider CF4 or just buy EXO?
Asked by Lisa on Sep 07, 2011
The CF4 is going to have a little more pop then the Exogrid. The CF4 is going to be a composite bat that will get hotter with time. This is a great link that we have that helps decide what bat someone should use and the length and weight they should use; http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/

does the tpx exogrid2 have the usssa bpf1.15 stamp on the handle?
Asked by pollo3 on Aug 23, 2011
If you are referring to the new USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp required on big barrel youth bats, then no, this bat does not have that stamp. This is a small barrel youth bat that will not require the new USSSA stamp until 2014. As of 8/23/2011, there are no small barrel bats on the market with the new stamp.

Asked by crazyki113r on Jul 22, 2011

is it still powerful if it is not a big barrel?
Asked by Taney Baseball on Jun 24, 2011
Sure. A lot of the "power" aspect depends on the player, but this will be similar to the big barrel version, just a smaller hitting surface.
