New for 2012! The SL12VXL features the USSSA 1.15 stamp and is legal for use in 2012! For the past few years, the H2 was Louisville Slugger's flagship composite/alloy hybrid design. This season, Louisville Slugger ups the ante with a new bat, new materials and performance that will leave you astonished! Building off the success of EXOGRID, Vertex Technology is the next step in optimizing the composite/alloy hybrid design. The Vertex design utilizes Louisville Slugger's LS-2X Composite which uses thinner high-strength and lightweight graphite fibers to create the optimal feeling handle. These thinner fibers allow for more layers, giving the Vertex added stiffness and durability. The handle of the Vertex is actually stiffer than the EXOGRID which allows more barrel flex, resulting in maximum trampoline effect and, ultimately, greater performance! The barrel of the Vertex is constructed using AC21 Scandium Alloy. Combined with composite materials, the AC21 Scandium Alloy ensures thinner walls with outstanding durability and unmatched performance. The Vertex has a synthetic cushioned grip on the 7/8 inch tapered handle to give players an unbeatable feeling of confidence when they step up to the plate. With a gigantic hitting surface on the 2 3/4 inch barrel, players can easily translate that confidence into multi home run games! Louisville Slugger: Intimidate at the Plate! The Vertex is 1.15 BPF Certified. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Bat has huge sweet spot! TPX has outdone themselves again. 2012 Legal bat with plenty of pop. Nice sound and feel is exceptional.
Cons: none
Pros: very nice bat it has lots of pop its kinda like the H2 it just has a bigger barrel. In my opinion its better than the exogrid.
Cons: nothin
Pros: This bat is great. My 10yd old was using the Prodigy and was hitting balls 200+ feet. He used his friends Vertex in the cage and I was so amazed. He got one for his birthday, now he is hitting ball 225+. I would highly recommend this bat!
Cons: The white grip will get stained but other than that, no problems.
Pros: This bat replaced my sons' Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha 29/19. So far, seems to have better pop and the ball travels farther on mis-hits than others he has used, plus the grip is very comfortable.
Cons: none
Pros: With two boys playing select ball we have purchased at least a dozen big barrel bats over the years. This one is far superior to any we have owned and has nice pop right out of the wrapper too. Couldn't be happier.
Cons: None. Have had this bat for at least 6 months and no problems.
Pros: Very good bat. It has alot of pop and the ball jumps! Legal for next year which makes it even better. The players love it and it shows!
Cons: none
Pros: Great pop, huge sweet spot. Best bat we have played with and boys that normally couldnt hit ball past mid-center were hitting to the fence and even over.
Cons:
Pros: This bat has incredible pop and a huge sweet spot. Entire team was wowed by the hits coming off this bat. This is by far the best bat we have used. Much more than I was expecting. Son hit a monster homerun in practice and he has never came close to clearing the fence before. LS TPX has outdone themselves on this one.
Cons: Pricey bat but well worth it.
Pros: Good looking bat with lots of Pop! The kids gravitated to this bat immediately! More pop than the Triton this replaced
Cons: None
Pros: My 11 y/o son has owned Combat Virus, B2, Easton Rival (Orange), Omen bats...this bat is his favorite. It is well balanced, it has a large (and soft on the hands) sweet spot due to the fusion of materials (alloy barrel and composite handle. Results: farther and hotter hits, higher batting average due to more confidence at the plate. Look at other travel ball teams swinging the Vertex...now you know why! Lastly, USSSA approved for 2012!
Cons: White grip shows dirt more easily than a darker one.
Pros: Super bat! Kid loves it, good pop, no vibration and hitting great with confidence in his bat! This website took complete care of us, exchanged another bat we were disatisfied with!
Cons:
Pros: This bat has some really good pop to it i got it yesterday for my 8 year old son and took him to the cages to hit some balls and the ball was flying off this bat...GET THIS BAT FOR YOUR SON IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE BALL FLY.
Cons: NONE
Pros: After breaking the 3rd triton Louisville sent my 10yr old the vertex. He went from hitting the ball 240ish to 270ish.With the price of this bat better get yours now they wont stay in stock.
Cons: none
Pros: this bat is the bomb--solid hits and very well balanced for our 9u team. Ball flies off the bat!
Cons: Not a big fan of the grip but its not too bad.
Pros: first borrowed this bat from my friend and was very pleased!!! I went 3 for 3 in first game. Second time, same results! third game using this bat i hit a homerun! I normally use combats, but this is the best bat on the market!!! And i have it now in 32' 22.5 oz. I love this bat!!!! And it has an amazing grip.
Cons: Nothing, best bat on the market
Pros: Awesome bat!!!!! Great pop. Son loves the feel of the handle.
Cons: white grip gets dirty, no big deal.
Pros: 7/8 Coach doesn't know what he's talking about. This is the most balanced bat I have ever come across. It's not the least bit end-loaded. My son absolutely loves it. Moved up to a 29/19 from a 28/18 Prodigy, and you really can't tell much difference in the swing weight between the two. This bat may feel almost too light for a big power hitter. I would recommend the Demarini Voodoo for power hitters. That bat is end-loaded (and a great bat to boot).
Cons: Paying over $150 for a senior league bat seems crazy to me, but I shelled out the cash anyway.
Pros: Has great pop
Cons: none
Pros: Awesome bat I just got it and I used it in a game I went 4 for 5 with a homrun that went 245 feet. The barrel is big so I could hit the ball easier.I forgot something too, when I got the bat I literally slept with the bat.The price is big but when you get it you will not regret it.
Cons: The handle will get dirty, but to me it looks cool.Other than that the vertex is great!!!!!!
Pros: The bat also has lots of pop
Cons:
Pros: great bat! my 9yo loves it. we had a prodigy and tried the easton because they seem to be the popular bats this year. they are good bats but,to me, the vertex is better.
Cons: none.
Pros: Bat has incredible pop, this is by far the best bat my two boys have used and they have used a variety of high-line bats. We are very pleased. The whole team wanted to use it after they saw a few boys hit with it at practice.
Cons: Expensive
Pros: The Vertex is awesome! Tons of pop. Very balanced. Looks great.
Cons: None
Pros: I have both the Vertex and the Exogrid 2. I like the Vertex because it has a huge sweetspot although it feels a bit heavier than the Exogrid 2. In few words, the Vertex is a heck of a bat!
Cons: Unlike the Exogrid 2, the Vertex stings a little if not hit in the sweetspot.
Pros: I bought this bat for my son he has had it since August and all I can say in WOW!! he not a big kid aroung 4'10" 80 lbs and he can smoke it with this bat. I've tried everything from worth to cf5's nothing hold a candle to this bat as far as pop and durability. This thing seems to get hotter by the day!
Cons: None other than I wish the made a 2 5/8 version for other leagues.
Pros: This bat issoo good! This is coming from a players perspective. This is the best bat I've ever hit with. Better than the Omen, B2, B3, B4, and every other bat. It's actually an accurate weight! Demarinis tend to run heavy. my friends bat was supposed to be20 oz but it was 22 oz. I weighed this and is was dead on 19.5 oz. I hit so well with this in games.
Cons:
Pros: great pop, good weight great handling
Cons: none
Pros: my 9yr son was hitting over the fence with the 2 1/4 barrel,so when i found out they made it in 2 3/4 barrel i got him one, results are even better
Cons: the grip does not sting
Pros: This bat isn't composite so it's good right out of the box. It has so much pop! I could barely even get on base with my omen last year and now I'm hitting line drives over the center fielders head. It has a huge barrel so it's a lot easier to hit a low or high pitch. Amazing bat!
Cons: grip turns brown
Pros: 6yr old hitting around 150 160 mark. Best bat we have bought out of 12 bats.
Cons: none
Pros: Great pop. Nice grip and paint job. Does seem hotter then 100% composite bats that we have been using.
Cons: Will rattle your hands on off center hits. Not sure if that relates to less ball speed compared to composite bats. Extra pop on well hit balls makes up for that.
Pros: Has great pop i think its like the EXOGRID2 in my opinion, has an awsome grip i thought it was pretty cool they put the usssa sign on their since i play on a travel team in tht league. the half blue half white is sick. if ure looking for a bat get this one.
Cons: none
Pros: This is an excellent bat with big sweet spot and no vibration.
Cons: may not be ideal for players who prefer balanced bat as this bat is end-loaded
Pros: beast bat my 12 year old son used he was hitting the ball 350+ feet
Cons: nothing at all
Pros: My boys had always useded the Tritons in the past and was worried when the new bats came out but was blown away with the Vertex. It has as good or better pop than the old tritons and most important this bat has a great balaned feel that feel great in your hands. We have bought several for my 12U travel team and in three tournements the boys have hit 6 dingers with them.
Cons: none
Pros: This has to be the best bat. My son has had the Easton Rival and the New easton S3. You will junk those bats once your child uses this one. Great pop. My son loves this bat. So many kids on his team have the easton and the marucci bat, none compare to this one. worth the few extra $..
Cons: None
Pros: first game ! 5 home runs, a tripple double and a bunch of singles.Get one tomorrow.
Cons:
Pros: Awesome bat. After break in balls fly off the bat with zip. Hit first home run (10 yr old) out of park!!!
Cons: ...only if your on the other team!
Pros: Bat replaced my son's Triton II big barrel from last year which he hit 2 HRs. He has been using this bat for 4 tourneys and has hit 5 HRs. Bat is well balanced and has good pop!
Cons: Wish it had better weight to length ratio for other players that need lighter bat.
Pros: its has alot of pop in it. if u want to spend money on a excellent bat, this is the one to get.
Cons: non
Pros: Great bat. Only had a few days but it seems to have as much pop as my son's Rival. Ball jumps off the bat. has a very balanced feel and swing speed is great. Great solid sound. He has hit 100+ balls off the tee with it and LOVES this bat. Swung the new VooDoo, and several others before purchasing this bat. This bat just felt better overall.
Cons: None so far.
Pros: Son is 4' 55lbs. Smallest player on his 8u team (He just turned 7 4 weeks ago). This past weekend he 2 of the longest balls hit all weekend. Now if I could only get the other kids to stop swinging the Prodigy and come on over to TPX. This bat has good weight balance and he makes it look effortless. The white grip may get dirty but the feel of it is nice.
Cons: Takes several hundred hits to break in but watch out when this occurs
Pros: Wow! Just got this bat for my son and he was definitely hitting it farther and more consistent than normal....huge sweetspot and great feeling grip. He can't wait to try in a game, but probably hottest bat we have ever tried.
Cons: none

Ask QuestionMy son is 11 years old, 55 inches and 71 pounds, he is using a Demarini Voodoo 30 inch 17 ounces for Little League and travel ball. We are looking at the Vertex Senior League -9.5 for travel ball and am not sure if he needs a 28 or 29 inch bat. He is a contact hitter (righty) with most hits to center or right.
Asked by Cole on May 05, 2012
I would suggest only moving him up an ounce and a half in weight. Meaning the 28" 18.5oz. It's hard to suggest making him go down 2inch in length to make up for the weight ratio.
John Expert · May 05, 2012
My son plays USSSA, you say this bat is legal for 2012, but what about 2013?
Asked by mombuyingbat on May 02, 2012
The SL12VXL has the new USSSA stamp. It will be legal in 2012, 2013 and beyond.
Tyler Expert · May 02, 2012
Hi, I just ordered this bat for my son in a 29/19.5. He is playing 9U Select and is 59 lbs 4'6" tall. He has been swinging a 28/18 Easton Cyclone (2 1/4) bat comfortably, but not getting the pop on the ball. Will the 1.5 ounces be too much of a transition right away?
Asked by ML on May 01, 2012
Moving up an ounce is recommended from year to year. This helps make the player stronger and gives them a little more power due to the added weight behind the ball. The more practice he has, the quicker he will become comfortable with the added weight. We do not think moving up 1.5oz is too much of a transition.
Kris Expert · May 01, 2012
My son is 10, 4'6" tall 65lbs. plays select ,currently uses the Z1000 29/17. Do you recommend the 28" or 29" for him.
Asked by Matt on Apr 30, 2012
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend going with a 29 inch bat. If you need more help in trying to find the right size of bat for your son, feel free to use our bat coach feature located on our website.
Jennifer Expert · Apr 30, 2012
Is this bat balanced or end loaded?
Asked by Mike on Apr 19, 2012
The weight in the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Vertex is evenly distributed. This even distribution gives the bat a balanced feel.
Jennifer Expert · Apr 19, 2012
My 12 year old son has been using a 31" 19oz for Little League. He is about 4'11' 85 lbs. What size bat would you recommend for him for select ball?
Asked by ABC on Apr 16, 2012
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 31" 21.5 oz bat.
Kara Expert · Apr 16, 2012
Please compare this bat to the S3 Easton for an 11 year old?
Asked by Pon on Apr 11, 2012
The S3 is an all alloy bat. The Vertex has an alloy barrel and composite handle. The S3 will have a slightly lighter swing weight than the Vertex. Both do a good job of reducing vibration and both are stiff bats. Both are some of the top performing bats on the market with great pop.
Tyler Expert · Apr 11, 2012
I want to buy this bat for my 10yr old, but how long can he use it? I see that it says in the description part of the bat that "It's legal for 2012", so this means it might not be able to be use after this year? Thank you. Please let me know before I invest so much money.
Asked by Hitemen#5 on Apr 08, 2012
There is really no set predetermined life span for bats. If you are talking about rules and regulations, this bat is legal for use in 2012 and beyond. This bat does feature the new USSSA stamp making it legal for use after 2012.
Jennifer Expert · Apr 08, 2012
I have an 8 year old lefty... he has that natural no effort lefty swing... he was using the prodigy 27/17 2 3/4 and he loved it but it was not durable.. he now has the vexxum in 28/18 2 5/8.. looking to go back to a 27 inch til he gets a little more size to him.. although he is small he hits for power... i have 2 questions:#1 the vertex or the 2 3/4 S3 ?? #2 What do you feel is better a 2 3/4 barrel or 2 5/8.. for durability and performance?
Asked by Surreal on Feb 03, 2012
The Vertex and the S3 will be very durable bats. These bats have great pop, a large sweet spot, and a balanced feel. If your league will let you use 2 3/4" barrels then go ahead and get that size.
KG Expert · Feb 03, 2012
Is this bat USSSA legal under the new rules?
Asked by Steve on Jan 30, 2012
This bat does have the USSSA stamp and is legal for use in 2012.

Witch bat has a longer sweet spot out of these 2 3/4 bats the Vertex or the S3 and witch bat would you recommend for a 12yr 5ft 3in tall contact hitter?
Asked by Vortexs on Jan 24, 2012
They are both going to have very similar size sweetspots. For a contact hitter I would suggest the S3
Ryan Expert · Jan 24, 2012
my grandson plays on a 9u travel team. he is a big powerhitting kid. He played up with the 9u team that went to Elite 32 in Disneyworld and swung an Easton Surge 28/18 senior league. I was looking at Louisville slugger Vertex. Any other suggestions for strong powerhitting kid?
Asked by bigfish11 on Jan 23, 2012
The Vertex is going to be a great bat for him, another bat to take a look at would be the TPX Exo Grid 2. Power hitters tend to like a stiffer bat. This bat is going to be a very stiff one-piece alloy.
Ryan Expert · Jan 23, 2012
My son is 8 and will be nine in june. He plays coach pitch and this year our distric is moving out of dixie league into ponie. We are now aloud to use big barrel bats. my ? Is is the vertex legal in this league or for coach pitch.
Asked by Jimmy on Jan 22, 2012
Yes, the TPX Vertex is going to be USSSA approved and come with the B.P.F. 1.15. I would check with your league to make sure you guys follow USSSA sanctions

Is this bat legal for USSSA 8u machine pitch 2012? thanks
Asked by wayen on Jan 19, 2012
Yes. It is legal in USSSA for 2012.
Kara Expert · Jan 19, 2012
how would you compare this bat to the S3 from easton, weighting, pop etc.
Asked by griz on Jan 14, 2012
It is going to be very similar in weighting, the Vertex will have slightly more pop than the S3
Jon Expert · Jan 15, 2012
Why is this bat a -9.5 rather than a -10? Is a notable difference? And lastly, how does this compare to similar bats like the voodoo and s2.
Asked by baseball_lover on Jan 10, 2012
Louisville Slugger didn't make the Vertex in a -10 this year. The Vertex, Voodoo, and the S2 are three of the best two piece bats on the market. The player shouldn't feel a huge difference between the -10 and -9.5.
K.B. Expert · Jan 10, 2012
Does this bat need to be broken in like other composite bats? If so, what is the recommended way to do so...I've heard so many different ways, but looking for the best way. Thanks.
Asked by Dad of 11U kid on Dec 30, 2011
It shouldn't require too much of a break in. But as a rule of thumb, I always recommend getting some batting practice in with it, before putting it into a game situation. Just so you can determine how much it does need to be broken in. Also, another suggestion, never use composite bats at batting cages that use the yellow dimpled, compressed rubber balls. Though they are rubber, they are horrible on composite bats. Only use real baseballs.
Linda Expert · Dec 30, 2011
Is this a BBCOR approved bat?
Asked by DEF on Dec 20, 2011
No. BBCOR bats will be -3 Adult bats only.
KG Expert · Dec 20, 2011
dont know whether to get lithium or vertex which one would u prefer.
Asked by batlover on Dec 19, 2011
I personally, like the Vertex, like the stiffer flex and the nice pop.
Linda Expert · Dec 19, 2011
My son plays in USSSA 13U league and I'm confused on whats legal this year. Does he have to use a -3 bat in 2012 in USSSA? I've looked at the rules and I'm still confused on a bat that is legal in 2012. Thank you for your help.
Asked by Jett on Dec 18, 2011
Totally understandable, it had us confused too. But the rules given to us are...13&u and 15&u their bats must be stamped EITHER USSSA 1.15 BPF OR BBCOR. Which is nice because it doesn't force younger, smaller players to swing the -3, but allowed bigger, stronger guys to use a -3.
Linda Expert · Dec 19, 2011
Is this bat better than the easton S3? Trying to decide between the 2.
Asked by Bill on Dec 12, 2011
If your league allows the 2 3/4" barrel, and your player is on the small side, the Vertex is great. But if he can handle the -10, I would go with the S3.
Linda Expert · Dec 12, 2011
does this bat or lithium have more pop.
Asked by batlover on Dec 11, 2011
Both have quite a bit of pop, one does not stand out more than another
Sean Expert · Dec 11, 2011
Can my 8 yr old use this bat. He plays USSSA travel ball.
Asked by Bill on Dec 01, 2011
If he is allowed to use the big barrel bats, this does have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on it.
Linda Expert · Dec 01, 2011
What's your opinion? Is the tpx z100 or this bat better?!
Asked by BallPlayer on Nov 30, 2011
Both are great bats. Composite barrel bats generally outperform alloy barrel bats.
Tony Expert · Nov 30, 2011
Which is better, this bat or the Combat in a 29/19?
Asked by cfb on Nov 27, 2011
There are several versions of the Combat in a 29-19, and it kind of depends on the batter, if they are a contact hitter, then I'd go for the Vertex, if he is a power hitter, I'd lean toward the Combat.
Linda Expert · Nov 28, 2011
all things equal how does the Vertex compare to the EXOgrid 2 and what type of hitter is it more suited for?
Asked by Keith on Oct 27, 2011
The Vertex is a 2 piece design with an alloy barrel and composite in the handle. The Exogrid is a 1 piece that has the alloy barrel with carbon inserts in the handle, great for power hitters.
Linda Expert · Oct 27, 2011
Trying to decide between this bat and the 2012 Demarni voodoo for a 10 yr old contact hitter. Any suggestions?
Asked by JB on Oct 12, 2011
The Voodoo will offer a little more flex than the Vertex, which usually benefits contact hitters looking to add more pop. The Vertex is a great bat, it just won't offer quite as much flex.
John Expert · Oct 13, 2011
I play usssa this is for the ? up top and yes it is alloweed
Asked by sllllllluuuuuugggggggggerrrrrrrr on Oct 10, 2011
Yes. It has the USSSA stamp, making it legal for play in 2012.
Kara Expert · Oct 11, 2011
ok so i used this bat and it is pretty good but i am not sure if i should buy it what would you prefer for a 11 year old who is 5ft and i nedd a stamp
Asked by sllllllllllllluggggggggggggggggerrrrrr on Oct 09, 2011
I would double check and make sure the 2 3/4" barrels are allowed in your league. If it is allowed, it does have the 1.15 BPF stamp on it. It is a very nice bat with lots of pop!
lkh Expert · Oct 10, 2011
My son swings a prodigy now and loves it. It just isn't very durable and I was looking for a durable alternative. Since this bat isn't as stiff as the prodigy, would you be hesitant to get it thinking he might now like it? Can you explain the difference between a stiff bat and a bat that flexes? How will my son tell?
Asked by Jeff on Oct 04, 2011
That's quite a lengthy explaination to post here. You can give us a call and one of our reps will be glad to explain it, and offer some suggestions.
lkh Expert · Oct 04, 2011
is there two different color bats are they are one sided color. how does this compare to the prodigy
Asked by blues coach on Sep 21, 2011
The SL12VXL is a two piece hybrid model bat with an alloy barrel with a -9.5 and is for hitters that prefer a little more flex in their bat. The Prodigy is a one piece alloy bat with a -10 that will be more stiff, possibly for a power hitter. And yes, the Sl12VXL is white on one side and blue on the other.
Shelbe Expert · Sep 23, 2011
Does it have the BBCOR stamp on it and legal for 2012?

Does anyone know how this bat is weighted? I assume it is more of a balanced weighted bat since I cannot find anywhere that states it is end-loaded?

This will be an evenly balanced bat. In general, all baseball bats will be evenly weighted.
