The Rawlings 5150 Alloy is constructed with a one-piece 100% alloy frame. The ultra-responsive 5150 Alloy barrel has been formulated for higher strength and increased flex. The result is an unmatched combination of trampoline and durability. As a result of new precision manufacturing capabilities, 5150 Alloy bats are consistently hotter than aluminum bats of the past. The thing that sets these bats apart from the competition however is the extremely balanced feel that gives hitters maximum swing speed and improved bat control! Rawlings once again employs the help of Sci-Fly technology with their development of this year's line. This is a Ball Flight and Hitting Analysis System using Doppler Radar to track ball flight characteristics. The launch angle, ball speed, hit distance, and spin rate from the point of contact is measured to scientifically identify a bat that matches a unique swing style. Expect nothing less than optimal performance with the Rawlings 5150 Alloy bat! Rawlings: Maximum Performance Where It Matters Most on the Field! Is this bat good for kid pitch or just coach pitch?
Asked by Louie on Mar 24, 2012
Junior Big Barrel bats are designed for players at the Coach Pitch level. If you're in kid pitch, you'll want to look at Youth Big Barrel Bats.

Looking at the smaller big barrel bats for my son. We live in a colder climate. Which bat performs better in lower temperatures?
Asked by Jon on Mar 15, 2012
If you are looking for a bat that can stand up pretty good to colder temperatures, I would suggest checking out an alloy bat, like this one. These alloy bats can withstand colder temperatures better than composite bats, but they do still have their limits. We recommend not using a composite bat in temperatures cooler than about 50-55 degrees, but alloy bats can be used in cooler temperatures. It is just recommended to try to limit the bat's use as much as you can.

Looking for a bat for my grandson. Last year he used a 25" 13 ounce, this year he may be using a 25" 15 ounce bat. I understand all children are different in size and strength. I Would like to see if the 27" 17 ounce bat fits him ok if he chokes an inch or two and if he can still get good bat speed. If I order the new 5150, and he is not able to get it around, can the bat be returned. I should be able to tell right away.

How does this bat differ from the SL51V in 27-17? Pop? Balance? Durability?
Asked by Dan on Feb 25, 2012
The Sl51V is constructed for higher velocity pitching than the YB5J10. The YB5J10 is constructed for coach pitch and will not likely hold up against live kid pitching.

is this bat more durable than the easton v12, my 7 yr old sons team dented that one quick
Asked by jg on Jan 18, 2012
The 5150 alloy is pretty durable. If it is a "team bat" it will wear at a faster rate than if is was just your child's bat.

The USSSA stamp, Is it on the handle, just before the barrel flares out?

Yes, that is where the stamp is located.

For those sizes you would have to look at the senior league. Take a look at the SL51V.
