Pros: This BBCOR bat is like none other out on the market. I have tried many BBCOR bats and this one was easily the best. The balance of the bat is amazing and far better than most BBCOR's. The pop on this bat is BESR comparable. All of the coaches at my organization unamimously agreed this is the best BBCOR on the market.
Cons: Grip tape is very good, but doesn't last very long

New for 2012! Increase your swing VELOcity with the Rawlings 5150 VELO! The 5150 VELO features an incredibly lightweight design and thinner walls to help players increase their swing speed and hit the ball further. The VELO is made from Rawlings 5150 Alloy that features unmatched durability that provides 10x more strength than traditional alloys. This allows Rawlings to make the barrel walls much thinner to produce a lighter swing weight. But that's not all. The 5150 VELO is also assisted by Precision Optimized Performance (pOp) Technology that lowers the swing weight and surrounds the maximum rebound zone with thin walls to create additional barrel flex. The precision manufacturing techniques used by Rawlings give players the maximum allowable performance by a BBCOR baseball bat. Maximum allowable performance, increased swing speed, and thin walls will equate to one thing: MORE POWER AT THE PLATE! A stiff handle design produces consistent feel so that players can swing for the fences each and every time up. Rawlings: Maximum Performance Where it Matters Most on the Field! The 5150 VELO is BBCOR Certified. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: great balance. large sweet spot. no sting
Cons: grip nice but like all bats doesn't last long
by VMFT - Dec 26, 2011
Pros: Just got this bat the other day. Is a lot more balanced than anyother bbcor bats I have felt. THe pop on this bat seeems very good for bbcor and is comparable to BESR. The graphics are cool too, the barrel is very long. Grip seems good, not to thich and hands do not slip easily.
Cons: None yet, some say grip doesn't last long.
by Swagger - Jan 09, 2012
Pros: This bat has great pop. It has a longer sweet spot than any other bats we have tried, and seems to be really well balanced.
Cons: None so far..
by BD - Jan 24, 2012
Pros: Very good pop for a BBCOR bat. Has pop comparable to a BESR and very balanced. Used other BBCORs,(Easton, Marucci, Nike)but very impressed with this bat.

by clett - Feb 10, 2012
Pros: best bbcor i have hit with. well balanced and lots of pop
Cons: paint chipping
by Corey S. The beast - Jan 29, 2012
Pros: Its not top heavy . One of the best bbcore bats you can get. Has great pop.
Cons: The handle is great but doesnt last long. But just get a new grip
by NEFlorida - Feb 14, 2012
Pros: Great bat! Seems to be weighted just off the handle, which allows you to accelerate through the zone. The pop is not what we came to expect from BESR, but is very good. Comparing to other BBCOR's (Marrucci, Nike, Demarini, and Louisville Slugger), this bat is, in my opinion, superior. I had a Z1000 and have since put it away, in order to swing this Rawlings. It also has a different "ping" sound, similiar to BESR aluminum bats. The price also makes it a very good buy, compared to the other bats on the market.
Cons: None
by KyBaseball - Feb 11, 2012
Pros: Best bat on the market, whole bat is a sweetspot, best pop of any bbcor, As good or better than the rip it prototype 2,great grip with great feal, great balance
Cons: grip comes off quickly
by VELO LOVER 44 - Mar 29, 2012
Pros: The balance of the velo is amazing. All my teammates are dropping their regular 5150's and swinging the velo!
Cons: There will be complaints from opposing teams of how the 5150 velo is too much of a boss to be BBCOR.
by BIG HITTER - Feb 04, 2012
Pros: LOVER THE BAT
Cons: NONE
by State Champs! EBA - Feb 08, 2012
Pros: This bat isn't top heavy at all and has great balance.Hits great and actually sounds pretty good to be a BBCOR bat. I have tried the TPX exo, the rawlings machine, Prototype 2 and have picked up a vodoo (top heavy) but this is my favorite.
Cons: I really dont see any cons but we have only been using it for about 3 weeks.
by bobcats#22 - Feb 09, 2012

by HomeRunKid - Apr 08, 2012
Pros: the weight of this bat is evenly distributed and feels lighter than the weight it says. It hits and feels like no other bbcor bat on the market. ive already hit 2 home runs with it, im a junior in high school and this bat is the way to go.
Cons: NONE
by Baseball2 - Apr 17, 2012
Pros: This is by far the best bbcor bat I have swung. The pop is comparable to besr bats. This bat has a huge barrel and huge sweet spot. Better than the 5150 alloy because it is more balance and feels really light.
Cons: The grip doesn't last long, but I like how athletic tape feels better anyway.
by beast - Apr 20, 2012
Pros: Im 13 hit 3 over already great bat and graphics.
Cons: none
by JJones19 - Apr 20, 2012
Pros: It seems like every bat on the market is "the best BBCOR bat ever made!" and has "more pop than a BESR!" I can honestly say that this bat is the best BBCOR i have swung this year. I've used an Easton XL1 and an S2, the original 5150, a Marucci Black and an Omaha, and the 5150 velo is the best hands down. Swings light, hits like a 2 piece, but solid like a 1 piece. It's definitely worth every penny.
Cons: It's got a pretty significant rattle for hitters who aren't as strong, especially when compared to the Marucci black. However, if you've got good bat speed, you can't beat the pop of this bat.
by boneman - Apr 28, 2012
Pros: this is a very well balanced bat with lots of pop to it, one of the better bbcor bat out there, would highly recommend this bat.
Cons: after a week some of the matte finish started to come off but that doesnt really effect the performance so...
by Big boss - May 14, 2012
Pros: It has great pop and doesn't vibrate when you hit it off the handle like most bats it has good sound and I love it
Cons: ....
by tim - Mar 04, 2012
Pros: this bat is amazing. grip is awsome, sweet spots is huge, i was hitting farther with this bat than with my nike cx2 composite. no lie. this bats isnt top heavy its easily the best bat on the market right now
Cons: the design of the bat could be nicer
by raiders baseball - Mar 16, 2012
Pros: it started off with great pop! The grip tape is nice and soft, no vibration when jammed!
Cons: scratched eaasily, tape doesn't last, the pop begins to slowly get less and less.

Which is the best bat between the 5150 and the Velo 5150?
Asked by Murph on Apr 24, 2012
The BBCA 5150 and the BB51V 5150 are both very popular and durable BBCOR bats. The difference is the BB51V 5150 is designed to increase the players swing speed and have a more balanced feel. Both of these bats have great pop and is more on a personal choice on choosing one over the other.

Even though both are one piece alloy bats, the Rawlings Exogrid will have a little stiffer feel to it than the Velo. The Velo will have a slightly lighter swing weight compared to the Exogrid.

What has been the better bat, the Machine or 5150 Velo?
Asked by DK on Mar 14, 2012
Rawlings is manufacturing very good BBCOR bats this year. All three of their models have been very popular and we have seen great reviews. The Machine has a composite handle, alloy barrel with a slight end loaded feel, and the VELO is a very balanced bat, one piece design. Both bats also feature little vibration. There is no clear cut better bat between these two and picking one will be based more on what feels best to the hitter.

How does this bat compare with the COMbat B3 BBCOR bat? Without being biased, which would you recommend?
Asked by Alex on Feb 29, 2012
Depends on the hitter. The Velo will have a lighter swing weight and I would recommend that one for a contact hitter looking to improve swing speed. The B3 may feel a little more endloaded and is great for stronger hitters with good swing speed

Is the barrel size on the 32" 29 oz bat the same diameter as the BESR 5150 EXOGRID bat? Rawlings Gold Rush bat had a noticeable difference which was smaller compared to the EXOGRID and other 5150 BESR bats; you could see and feel the difference.
Asked by WHITT on Dec 23, 2011
Yes. The barrel diameter on the 5150 Velo will be the same as the 5150 Exogrid. I'm not sure about the Rawlings Rush Gold, as that bat has been discontinued for quite some time, but I do remember that it had a more significant taper than your average adult bat.
