Pros: Good transition bat for 13u at a good price - Decent pop. Well balanced - a little end loaded, but not overly. The kids love the graphics and texture of the barrel.
Cons: ugly ping sound, but it doesn't seem effect performance.

Pros: Nice "transition" bat for a small 14-year-old player moving from a -9 to HS -3 requirement. Bat has nice "ping" sound on contact and little or no vibration through the handle.
Cons: No cons seen.

Pros: This bat is very good and is worth the money. The bat is light so you can generate a lot of bat speed.cool graphics and definetely preforms like it
Cons: the sweets spot is little small but not that much.

Pros: Great pop. One of the best bats on the market in my opinion. For the low price, huge sweetspot, and best pop, I would buy this bat.
Cons: Took about 200 or so hits to break in, before that it sounded like composite.

Pros: Son is 13 and needed transtion drop 5 bat and it seems to be very well balanced. Seems to have as much pop or more than his prior drop 8 CF4. Not sure if its in part due to the extra weight of the drop5 vs drop 8 bat or not. Loud ping when hit but at least the coaches pay attention when he's in batting practice, haha.
Cons: If you don't like ping noise when you hit.

I recommend checking with your coach or athletic director. Unfortunately, middle school rules vary throughout the nation and there is not a standard set of middle school baseball rules.

How does this bat rate in terms of durability? Does it dent easily? What size would best suit a 6'-1" 160lb 14 year old?
Asked by Schack on Apr 11, 2012
The SLPL5 is a very durable bat and is not known to dent easily. Based on your height and weight, a 33 inch model would be recommended.

My son currently LOVES the Rawlings 5150 but it does not have the USSSA 1.15 stamp. Are they going to make a 2012 5150 or is this the only option? He really likes a Balanced bat and does not want an end loaded bat? Is this one balanced or end loaded??
Asked by Eddie on Oct 14, 2011
This is slightly end weighted, not a full end load. Are you wanting the -5? How old is your son?

Is this the best -5 non bbcor bat?
Asked by james on Sep 16, 2011
A lot of it is personal preference. However in that price range the SLPL5 is one of the better options for an alloy bat.
· Sep 16, 2011
This is one of the better alloy barrel bats out there right now. This would be a great bat if you are looking to stay within the price range. It really comes down to personal preference.
· Sep 16, 2011
Will this bat be as good as the other plasmas have been? Why or why not?
Asked by RAMBO on Sep 09, 2011
It should be very similar in performance. The alloy is a bit different but the performance should be about the same.
