Review Summary
based on 207 ratings. 207 user reviews.
New for 2012! The biggest surprise of last season was dominance of the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR. The PROB2 was the most preferred BBCOR bat on the market, hands down. However, if you don't think it can get any better than that, think again. The all-new RIP-IT Prototype II is RIP-IT's most advanced design yet. Featuring a bold new look and made from their exclusive Advanced Tempered Ballistic, the Prototype II has the most responsive barrel of any BBCOR bat ever made. Balanced for power, the Prototype's weight resides mostly in the barrel which features the biggest sweetspot a player will find on a BBCOR bat. The one-piece design, forged from a single block of high-performance aluminum, provides outstanding durability and the most consistent performance in the game. The tapered handle on the Prototype II features a memory foam grip that molds differently to each player's hand. The result is a grip customized exactly how players want it, every time they use it. This grip also eliminates vibration to truly give players the most comfortable swings of their lives. RIP-IT is so sure you'll fall in love with this bat that they're offering a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. RIP-IT: The Best BBCOR Bats, Guaranteed. The Prototype II is backed by a Full 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: This is my second ripit bat (had the first prototype bat also), and I love the way they perform. Their customer service is also spectacular.
Cons:
by Tuscaloosa - Feb 19, 2012
Pros: Looks good, Nice grip but thats it.
Cons: Hit about 30 balls in practice and started hearing something loose inside. About 20 more hits and the end cap busted. Sending back for a refund. Bought a Voodoo.
by Tom - Nov 19, 2011
Pros: Well-balanced bat with tremendous pop. HUGE sweet spot. The grip is very comfortable and molds to your hand when you grip the bat...i feel like i get better bat control because of it.

by lefty - Feb 10, 2012
Pros: best bbcor
Cons: top heavy and black end falls off. it has come off 4 times on our team
by J-Doc - Nov 23, 2011
Pros: Best bat we have on our team. Hits as good or better than every other bat, and has a much bigger sweet spot.
Cons: --
by 4holehitter - Nov 23, 2011
Pros: Son has used many different high dollar bats, top brand names and none is as productive as the rip-it.Used to use easton bats only and have come to like the rip-it best.Felt that the new rules would really take the pop away but the new rip-it has plenty.
Cons:
by Baseball96 - Nov 27, 2011
Pros: Great bat with a lot of pop. Best BBCOR bat by far. Also has a great grip.
Cons: none
by dhkhdhdhch - Jan 30, 2012

Cons: 2 out of the 3 bats had loose end caps after being used for the first time!
by Joe - Nov 24, 2011
Pros: This bat hits a ton. Our high school team liked it so much coach bought 4 for us to use. Definitely the best bat out there.

by TheMuffinMan - Dec 11, 2011
Pros: I just got this bat and i used it and... There is absolutely no sting, tons of pop!!!! Looks really cool. Grip feels great. can get around on the ball really fast!! Even if you don't like (which shouldn't happen) you can return it within 30 days. Buy it!!!!
Cons: what is this talk about cons?!?!
by grandslam - Jan 30, 2012
Pros: None
Cons: Bought 2 for my sons who play college ball. End cap came off both bats first time they used them. 3rd swing for one and 5th swing for the other. Never buy another. Sending them back for a refund.
by bbcor expert - Feb 23, 2012
Pros: good pop and well balanced until something happened
Cons: first 10 swings the end cap snapped in half and flew across the infield not a durable bat at all
by Hunter - Feb 12, 2012
Pros: None
Cons: 1st round hitting with it the cap crack and broke
by Kevin c - Feb 15, 2012
Pros: good pop nice grip
Cons: after 1 batting cage session already has 2 dents and now the paint is starting to chip
by js - Feb 18, 2012
Pros: Good balance, nice looking and comfortable feel
Cons: Not a very druable design, end cap busted after 3 days of practice. Not a real good pop to it.
by bport#11 - Feb 22, 2012
Pros: Real smooth and tremndous pop. ball seems to fly off minumum 10mph faster off the bat.
Cons: Bought this bat day before opening day and on opening day the cap popped off. The following day I called to return it and they delivered a new bat within the next 3 days.
by Dave - Mar 01, 2012
Pros: Well balance bat with good pop.
Cons: End cap came out of the bat before it was a month old. RipIt has a problem with this and the company seems to be overwhelmed trying to fix the problem as they back ordered the replacement bat after they lied to me that they were in stock. Not happy at all....
by TJ - Nov 12, 2011
Pros: I was between a few bats, but chose to try the prototype 2 because of rip it's love it or return it policy. I figured I could return it and buy a different bat if my son didn't love it. 30+ days later, we still own the bat and my son says it is better than any of the bats his friends use.
Cons: None so far, but want to again thank ripit for the novel idea of letting players try the bat and return it if they don't like it.
by Doug - Jan 25, 2012
Pros: Like look & feel, heard great things ...BUT - see below.
Cons: I received the bat and handed it to my son who immediately noticed that losse particles were floating inside the bat. The bat has never even hit a ball. Due to popularity & backorders - it makes me wonder if shortcuts are being made in manufacturing & quality control. What could be loose in a new one piece bat? Very frustrating as the season for my high schooler is about to begin.
by honeybadger - Jan 25, 2012
Pros: great balance and pop
Cons: season has not started and the endcap has already cracked during BP.It has been shipped off and hope this does not happen again
by Hawaiin Punch - Feb 21, 2012
Pros: This bat had a ridiculous amount of pop. It was fantastic right out of the wrapper. It was the best bbcor bat on my team.
Cons: My first Rip-It took about 50 hits before the cap popped off twice. I sent it back and in just 3 at bats with the new bat the cap was broken and is dangling.
by ROLO - Feb 26, 2012
Pros: Great grip,alot of pop
Cons: Foul ball hit off of end cap and now has a dent, first time out of the pkg,So this is going back for a refund,Lets go with another bat
by 5Cent - Nov 27, 2011
Pros: Just got back from bat demo day. Put all the BBCORs head to head. Rip-It was hands down the best bat. I had the 2011 red recertified Rip-It and this is NOT the same bat. The white one is more balanced with a much better feel. I was returning the red 2011 Rip-It to the manufacturer, the Rip-It rep took care of me at the field!!! Now swinging and singing the praises of the New 2012 Rip-It.
Cons: No Cons-- Rip-It= Best BBCOR and Best customer service period.
by Bo Joneser - Feb 23, 2012
Pros: Seems to have good pop for a BBCOR. Good sound off the bat. Nice looking design.....
Cons: Very end loaded feel to it. Players on my son's team were hesitant to try it because it feels heavier than some bats. End cap breaks easily.
by CHSHORNET11 - Feb 25, 2012
Pros: Good pop, good grip, and large sweet spot.
Cons: End cap busted off on it while taking batting practice....dad called the company and they said they were trying to fix the problem because it has been occurring lately....wouldn't advise the bat b/c of the endcap issue.
by buddy - Feb 26, 2012
Pros: looks cool
Cons: Ive had two and havent made it through one game with out the cap flying off
by GBill - Feb 26, 2012
Pros:
Cons: Bat is TERRIBLE! The end cap broke off during the second practice in the batting cages.
by Patrick - Feb 28, 2012
Pros: big sweet spot, well balanced and okay pop.
Cons: after 30 days of using it i had 3 huge dents. get the s1!
by Woo - Mar 02, 2012
Pros: 30 day money back guarantee
Cons: I purchased the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype for my son and he has only had it for a total of 10 days. The plastic cap cracked and popped off. The bat was not worth $279.00.
by bronco - Mar 03, 2012
Pros: good pop and great balance
Cons: endcap cracked and it dented in BP
by JD - Mar 04, 2012
Pros: bat has great pop and grip.
Cons: End cap came off during first scrimmage. Sending the bat back.
by BamBam - Mar 05, 2012
Pros: What little time I have got to use it I LOVE IT.
Cons: End cap keeps breaking. I have returned the bat twice in the two months Ive owned it. They are working on fixing this and have sent me a new bat each time.
by texas - Mar 06, 2012
Pros: hits well when it isnt being sent back for endcap breaking or denting
Cons: had this bat and endcap broke and sent it back and then on an inside pitch it dented..hopefully we get a full refund because my son cant keep borrowing another players bat while we wait for another one to be mailed back
by Remix - Mar 07, 2012
Pros: This bat is really good! The kids love it, but not worth it!
Cons: Ordered the bat for Christams. Used it in January it Dented. Sent it back and got a new one on 2-24-12, got the new one and used it in one game... Guess what? After one game it is "Dented" again! Bat is not game eligible!
by Mad Dad - Mar 08, 2012
Pros: None for 2012. 2011 was best bat ever.
Cons: Returning 3rd 2012 model due to cracked endcap. Still using 2011, don't know what changed with endcaps from 2011 to 2012 but they need to switch back.
by Tim - Jan 30, 2012
Pros: Good bat. Great price. Son tried both cf5 and prototype 2 and went with prototype 2
Cons: Used bat for 2 months in tournament play and last tournament in first game son fouled off pitch and the end cap broke off. with out bat rest of tournament and we are on the west coast have to ship to east coast to return. going to be without bat for next tournament. End cap don't count against your one warranty claim, but if its a problem and they know fix it.
by Bone - Mar 03, 2012
Pros: This Bat is not good at all I have purchased alot of bats and Rip-It has some work to do on this one.
Cons: Busted 3 bats in 2 weeks.
by Awefull - Mar 03, 2012
Pros: good pop
Cons: i had tryouts to day and i was soft tossing to a batter and he hit the ball and the end cap came off (breaking into pieces)
by 5150 - Mar 09, 2012
Pros: good grip
Cons: the bat dented after first game use
by rapper - Mar 20, 2012
Pros: seemed like a good bat. good pop
Cons: did not flex as much. son's wrist got a little sore so need to get used to lack of flex. end cap snapped off after two practices so sent it back and decided on voodoo until rip it's production improves
by PF - Feb 28, 2012
Pros: Great bat right out of the wrapper. Good looks and nice pop.
Cons: End cap came flying out after 30 BP Balls. No bat is worth the hassle of RMA ~!!
by Coach W - Oct 21, 2011
Pros: This bat has a huge sweet spot, and most players on our team have made this their bat. What stands out the most to me is that the performance is consistent across the entire barrel, where most bats drop off quite a bit in performance when you hit a couple inches off the sweet spot.
Cons: None
by vinny - Dec 08, 2011
Pros: great bat tried this bat at a sports expo among many other brands and found this to have the most pop and best grip.
Cons: have not found any ,and hope i do not as i am really pleased so far.
by Zack - Dec 10, 2011
Pros: Feels good. No sting when ball comes in contact with bat. Just what i've been looking for.
Cons:
by Alec - Dec 10, 2011
Pros: Great sweet spot. Ball pops off the bat no matter where it comes in contact with the bat.
Cons:
by Darren - Dec 10, 2011
Pros: Huge sweet spot. Great handle. Excellent feel. Top quality. Great product.
Cons:
by Mike - Dec 18, 2011
Pros: This bat probably has the largest sweet spot of any bat I've ever used. I mean no matter where I hit the ball off the bat it pops.
Cons:
by Joe - Dec 19, 2011
Pros: Bought this bat for my son and he has been hitting really well since making the switch. The ball seems to jump off the barrel a lot faster than his other bats. His confidence has definitely increased.
Cons: ...
by BP Pitcher - Dec 19, 2011
Pros: I throw a lot of BP and have many balls hit back at the "L" Screen. When someone when one of my players steps up to the plate with a Prototype I make sure that I'm behind the screen. Of all the BBCOR bats the RipIt certainly come off the bat harder.
Cons:
by 11u Manager - Dec 20, 2011
Pros: great feel, unmatched pop, great look and did I mention unmatched pop? Our team has tried all of the other bats...nothing comes close.
Cons: NONE !
by Rob - Dec 29, 2011
Pros: Purchased for Christmas present. Both my son and I feel it has nice pop when barreled up. Only used in cages so far but it may be a bit longer than 5150 on big hits.
Cons: Compared to Rawlings 5150 it is a bit more end weighted and a little less controlled. Also makes it slightly harder to get around on.
by Josh Cedillo - Feb 06, 2012
Pros: Awesome pop, Amazing grip, and suprisingly really balanced, no better bat on the market BUY THIS BAT
Cons: NONE
by TCOPE - Feb 26, 2012
Pros: Bat has a lot of pop but we were disappointed with the construction of such an expensive bat
Cons: End cap came off after 2nd game
by This Guy! - Feb 29, 2012
Pros: This bat has TREMENDOUS pop, the grip is fantastic, and it has a huge sweet spot. And Rip-It's costumer service is beautiful!
Cons: Had my first bat for probably 3-4 weeks. I was taking BP and all of a sudden the end cap comes off. Reading these reviews, it's very common. But being as I did love the bat so much, I returned it and got a new bat no less than a week later. I've had the bat for 2 weeks and nothing terrible has happened yet (knock on wood). Still has that great pop. But they need to work on that end cap.
by frenship tigers - Mar 17, 2012
Pros: this bat has good balance and great pop......when it is not being sent back for issues
Cons: 1st bat the endcap broke so it was sent back and a week later the 2nd bat dented from an inside pitch so it has been sent back. We request %100 REFUND.
by texas - Mar 25, 2012
Pros: good pop
Cons: this is the third time I have reviewed this bat because I am sending back for the 3rd time. 1st bat the end cap cracked, 2nd bat dented on an inside pitch and now the 3rd bat is end loaded. rip-it why is the 3rd bat end loaded when the other 2 bats were not? I wanted a refund when the 2nd bat was sent back and if the 3rd bat is not going to be refunded then you can keep it and will purchase another bat.
by Matt - Apr 08, 2012
Pros: Decent bat
Cons: Customer service is hideous for the price you pay for this bat. I bought 2, 1 for my son who plays DII baseball and the other high school varsity. Within 3 days of each other, the end caps came off. Sent both in, one was lost in the company warehouse. I was also told instead of a new bat, they replace the cap and send you the old one back, not good business for a total of $320 including tax. Stay away and go with a proven company.
by - Apr 10, 2012
Pros: Has pop, action off bat....price is not over the top like most companies. Customer service in Orlando is restricted, however, they work with you and get replacements in the pipelines.
Cons: Let's face it, no one is being up front here - caps are flying off bats out there and kids/parents scramble to get replacement. The only place to get supposedly the bats that have the fix are the ones at Rip It corporate in Orlando. My son got his replaced with Ashley down there with end cap that had the corrective action......his original lasted four swings, two over the fence, a line drive and a cracked cap. The seasons are so compressed, waiting a week is 3-5 games.....Rip It (corporate) replaced the same day as they got FedX return scanned and it took a day as I picked up at FedX facility the next town over. Bottom line? The cap fix is at corporate, in the field, there is a defect and despite the 'bad batch' comments - it is a risk.
by CJ - Sep 24, 2011
Pros: Great pop, HUGE sweet spot. The ball seems to jump off the bat where I hit it. The graphics are also really neat.
Cons: None
by RIck - Sep 25, 2011
Pros: More Pop than any other BBCOR bat we have tried.
Cons:

Cons:
by Cards11 - Oct 20, 2011

Cons:
by Mike - Dec 27, 2011
Pros: Just got this bat for Christmas and have taken a few rounds of BP. I love it so far great pop for a BBCOR
Cons: NONE
by Tholder - Jan 30, 2012
Pros: This bat is the best bat out! It has amazing pop and is the best you can find anywhere!
Cons: NONE
by Popin#7 - Feb 02, 2012
Pros: nice pop on sweet spot.. i recomend the easton XL1
Cons: small sweet spot lil top heavy
by TK / NJ - Feb 12, 2012
Pros: So far love this bat. Had Rawlings 5150 last year before I needed BBCOR. I was reluctant to switch brands, however I can honestly say this bat for me was the right decision. There is no majic bat out there, but if your mechanics are down pat this bat will complement your game at the plate. Bat feels great when hitting with a quality feel and balance.
Cons: No cons yet, except heard of some end cap problems with some people. Time will tell how well this bat holds up after HS ball and travel this year.
by baseballboy44 - Feb 12, 2012
Pros: Good sweet spot
Cons:
by Gil - Feb 13, 2012
Pros: Rip-It will buy your bat back if within 30 days you are not satisfied. Reasoning is, no one returns them. They are that good.
Cons: None
by Travelballdad - Feb 15, 2012
Pros: I have been coaching Major Travel ball since my son's were 8. My oldest is now a high school player and has been using the BBCOR bats. Although we miss the old Easton Stealth composites used when they were kids, this RIP-IT is the best we have found to date. We were using the Rawlings ALLOY 5150 but there was just no pop.
Cons:
by bonerigger - Feb 16, 2012
Pros: Bought the bat for my son for xmas. 8th grade swinging a 33/30. Had a Surge last season. Ripit shipped me the red 2011 bat by mistake. Told me to keep it and sent me the prototype 2 that I ordered. Son absolutly loves this bat. His Cat5 is sitting in his room now and he is using the RipIt's exclusivly now. Everyone on his travel and 8th grade team wants one now. Has hit 3 dingers so far in 10 games. Closest BBCor to BESR bat out there. I hit the bat myself in BP once. I was shocked at exit speed and NO STING. Horror stories of BBCOR bats are a myth with the Prototype 2 IMHO.
Cons: Nothing. Would be even better if were just a tad more balanced, but with BP he got used to the slight end load. Awesome job RipIt. Negative reviews on this bat are CRAZY!
by David - Feb 16, 2012
Pros: Reason for Rip-It's outstanding return policy is, that no one sends them back. They are that good!
Cons: None
by MJ - Feb 17, 2012
Pros: Amazing pop. Best BBCOR bat I have hit by far.
Cons: None at all.
by Angie - Feb 19, 2012
Pros: My son loves his ripit bat. Thanks to just bats for such quick shipping!
Cons: none.
by Ardrey - Feb 20, 2012
Pros: This bat has a big sweet spot and a lot of pop.
Cons:
by - Feb 25, 2012
Pros: return policy ..... cant beat it...sweet to hit.. not top heavy..keep making them. just bats.. awesome..
Cons: none
by Turtle - Feb 27, 2012
Pros: Great pop and feels great in my hands.
Cons: Used for couple of days and the cap broke had to send back to ripit sporting goods to be replaced or fixed.
by Clumsyleroy - Feb 28, 2012
Pros: Great bat, solid contact everywhere, I especially love the grip. 30 day Money back warranty was awesome. Didn't use it though.
Cons: No one knows about Rip-it yet so people think you have a $50 bat, thankfully this can easily disprove any hasty conclusion.
by Vandelay - Mar 01, 2012
Pros: Felt good before it broke
Cons: Son used the bat for a total of 15 swings on the first day of practice and end cap shattered....64 degrees outside that day.
by Awesome - Mar 02, 2012
Pros: Spectacular performance! I love this bat.
Cons: nothing
by - Mar 04, 2012
Pros: sweetspot
Cons: barrel size(Barely)
by Destructo - Mar 05, 2012
Pros: I like the feel of this bat compared to other BBCOR this has a great balance. The 30 Days Love it or get your money back was what sold us on trying it out! So glad I did! Already 1 Homer after using it just 3 games. Now I have another brand BBCOR for sale!
Cons:
by the beast - Mar 05, 2012
Pros: Feels as close to last years bats as you can get. My 15 year old son bats 4th and says it compares well to his old cf5 composite lots of pop and his teammates have tried it too and love it.
Cons: none yet
by Kyle - Mar 06, 2012
Pros: none
Cons: The cap cracked the second week i had it, and it had more pop with out it!
by Brandon - Mar 08, 2012
Pros:
Cons: Worst BBCOR bat that I have used! The first time I used it, pieces of the end cap started breaking off.
by Big Down Low - Mar 09, 2012
Pros: The Grip
Cons: A huge dissapoint
by Jason - Mar 09, 2012
Pros: It has decent pop for a BBCOR.
Cons: Not really a balanced bat...it's end loaded...Started to rattle after only one tournament, and I hope it's not the same issue some others are having. After hearing all the end cap issues, I'm worried that it might break off in the middle of a game.
by Dennylee - Mar 09, 2012
Pros: The Bat was performing well for the first batter. The 2nd Batter hit it off the end of the Bat and the plastic cracked and it fell off.
Cons: 2 of the parents after the incident decided to go with the Rawlings. I'm going to stick it out with the Rip it Cats heck they named it The prototype.I use to sell pro Audio and there are always quirks in new products. After I looked at the end cap it was very rigid I think the material needs to give a bit.I know this with shipping Vintage Tube Audio gear rigid against rigid Means Breakaroni!
by Bryon - Mar 10, 2012
Pros: nice grip
Cons: I hate two swings with this bat. The first swing i heard a rattling sound and the second swing the end cap popped off. Now i have to send it back. Thanks for wasting my money and time
by Wisconsinjohnson - Mar 10, 2012
Pros: Price and return policy
Cons: Did not get the pop they I was looking for, the ball seemed very slow off the bat.
by weso209 - Mar 11, 2012
Pros: 30 Day Money Back Guarantee.
Cons: Bought this bat based on all the hype and I was very disappointed. Easton XL1 is the way to go much better bat.
by Skipper - Mar 11, 2012
Pros: Son is going to HS next year so he needed a BBCOR. He's a small switch hitter and with this bat he can drive the ball from both sides. The endload is perfect for his style of hitting.
Cons: Grip gets dirty.
by bob - Mar 11, 2012
Pros: Niice fit in han feel nice swing
Cons: Are varsity broke 3 of these bat already in the matter o to weeks the cap on top breaks off.
by Shelby - Mar 12, 2012
Pros: didn't have it long enough to find out...
Cons: 3rd swing / hit of the bat at indoors team practice, February 9, 2012 - end cap completely cracked in half! :( Son still wants another one to try...
by Endcap - Mar 12, 2012
Pros: According to RIP-IT, the PROB2 had a bad run of 33" bats where the endcap is not holding up. They have corrected the problem and are more than happy to replace your bat within a week. It's more than worth your while as this is a fantastic bat.
Cons: That they even had this problem to begin with.
by thesupermegaamazingthingperson - Mar 13, 2012
Pros: It looked good and felt much more balanced then the original
Cons: It got a huge dent in between the handle and the barrel, right where the -3 symbol is. I had only used it a few times when this happened, make sure if you buy this bat you have a waranty!
by chili2k8 - Mar 14, 2012
Pros: My son demo'd this bat in the cage and loved it. See cons.
Cons: We bought one and he hit ten balls in the cage and blew the end cap off. Freak thing...i realize that. What I was dissapointed with was that it took 3 weeks to get a replacement. Might be a sweet bat...but I will probably look elsewhere for the next bat.
by Carl - Mar 15, 2012
Pros: Huge sweet spot, nice handling.
Cons: Hit a ball and broke in two.
by Wiggs - Mar 16, 2012
Pros: This is a great bat with a huge sweet spot. Everything you hit jumps off the bat!
Cons: I've had to return mine twice because the cap breaks easily...
by bumpersson - Mar 17, 2012
Pros: good pop.Excellent grip
Cons: My son broke end caps off two different bats .Hit a homerun and next at bat end cap broke off.Replacement bat broke on second swing at practice. Sent back for refund.
by Chan - Mar 17, 2012
Pros: Eh
Cons: About 5 players on my high school team got these and they have all broken, 3 weeks into the season. Also all the good reviews are written by the company.
by No-e - Mar 18, 2012
Pros: Well balanced Hot out of the wrapper Grip is amazingly comfortable Bigger barrel than most of the other BBCOR bats
Cons: None yet, doubt I will
by Tyler - Mar 18, 2012
Pros: This a great bat. The first ten swings were duds, but after that the ball just started flying of the bat. I'm 5'6" 130 lbs and i have been hitting 350ft + line drives. its got a huge sweet spot and great pop.
Cons: The grip gets dirty.
by jp - Mar 19, 2012
Pros: my son is a little guy so he needed every advantage he could get. he took this bat and went with it. lots of pop for a bbcor which he needs.looks like a winner in his book. he even compares to easton bat of last year which was a besr rating. love it.
Cons: while it is balanced it still feels a little top heavy. but he is woking through this and getting very comfortable with the bat.
by Baseball Nut - Mar 20, 2012
Pros: Well balanced, great grip, lots of pop. Great warranty and very helpful support staff.
Cons: Not durable. We have gone through three bats in less than a month and the end cap has come off on all three. The last two didn't last a game. Too bad cuz it is a nice bat if it were durable.
by KCakes - Mar 21, 2012
Pros: Nice balance, not top heavy. The grip is very comfortable.
Cons: Dented in two weeks. The exchange process has been a nightmare. Day 12 and still no bat.
by - Mar 21, 2012
Pros: Bought this for my son. Loves hitting with the bat. BBCOR and hitting home runs and extra base hits.
Cons: The problem has been he has had to send it back twice in the 4 months he has had it due to the end cap breaking. Takes 3 weeks to get it back! Hard to hit with it when it always being repaired.
by bballace23 - Mar 22, 2012
Pros: Great bat. Good pop. Used once in bp and the next day in a game and it was good
Cons: scratces easy but overall good
by Tee - Mar 22, 2012
Pros: Nice sweet spot ball flys off the bat. Get a good swing and it goes!
Cons:
by austin - Mar 22, 2012
Pros: Comfortable grip...thats it!
Cons: i had my bat for 3 scrimmages and the end cap broke AND popped off...on a foul ball! ive used some other bbcors and this was the worst one! Dont waste your $280.00! All youre gonna have to do is send it back in constantly to get a new one.
by Don' Buy - Mar 23, 2012
Pros: Bought this bat for our son's birthday. He really liked the way it until...
Cons: Used it one night in the batting cage and the end cap popped off. Thought it just might be a defective bat, sent it back and received a new one. Used it two days at baseball practice and the end cap came off again. Sending it back and getting a voodoo bat. After eading some of the reviews this seems to be a common problem.
by woop - Mar 24, 2012
Pros: good pop, nice sound for a BBCOR, nice look
Cons: overrated. more of an endloaded feel and i honestly felt more pop coming from some reebok bat we had, as well as last year's voodoo. bought the bat 2 months ago but only recently have tested it so i'm fairly sure the 30 day return thing is down the drain despite it being pretty unused. sent it in after the end cap popped off from poor contact and tape a message on the barrel. hoping for a refund but i doubt it's happening
by coach - Mar 24, 2012
Pros: we are a 13 Utrip team but i make my team swing bbcor at times to get ready for HS play we have 5 of the top 10 bats and this one has more pop than all of them good product
Cons: handle gets dirty quick but permormance makes up for it
by Josh - Mar 24, 2012
Pros: ok pop...nice graphics
Cons: started to rattle after few at bats, and then in practice the end cap came off...sending it back...may have to go with a company that knows what they are doing. Sounds like from the reviews it's a dud.
by tpain - Mar 24, 2012
Pros: Tons of pop, nice grip and very balanced
Cons: End cap comes of way to easily and the grip gets mad dirty
by mike1516 - Mar 24, 2012
Pros: good pop, long grip(good for choking up), big sweet spot, and nice look
Cons: for all the people who complain about the end cap just need to do light batting practice to break it in. do the tee, do soft toss. don't just step into live pitching as soon as you get the bat
by Hitter - Mar 24, 2012
Pros: good grip
Cons: wasnt as good as i heard of...not much ''pop''
by Chase - Mar 26, 2012
Pros: Great bat, comfortable grip all around well balanced.
Cons: Just learned today that my bat was marked as illegal last week because of the end cap. Very disappointed. :(
by Danny - Mar 27, 2012
Pros: 1. Well balaced 2. Most pop iv ever seen in a BBCOR bat 3. Very comfortable grip 4. BIG sweet spot 5. Looks great
Cons: I have nothing
by coach utrip - Mar 28, 2012
Pros: for a bbcor this bat is not for off from besr, swing weight feels in middle of bat to 3/4 my son is 95-lb 5'1 13yrs bought a 31.5 -3 he swings this bat easy solid shot
Cons: none so far solid bat white handle gets dirty but has nothing to do with permormance
by Mike - Mar 29, 2012
Pros: 30 day return policy is huge!! Especially since I returned it after 2 weeks. This bat is SEVERELY OVER-HYPED.
Cons: Ended up buying the old faithful Easton bat. Don't buy into the hype-that's all it is. Very, very end heavy as well.
by bomer34553 - Mar 29, 2012
Pros: nice bat, good pop,AMAIZING GRAP IT MOLDS TO YOUR HAND,ALL AROUNG GOOD BAT
Cons: NONE
by frustrated - Mar 30, 2012
Pros: Nice one piece metal bat but ...
Cons: Like lots of other cons the end cap cracked. Waiting to see their RMA process works.
by alsawesome - Mar 31, 2012
Pros: the best bat i have ever used. i have only had 3 games so far but have hit 4 homeruns. it is very explosive.
Cons:
by stevelon - Apr 02, 2012
Pros: This bat is the real deal. At a tournament Saturday the varsity team was using this bat and there were 3 home runs in one game and one in the next. All of the big hits they were using this bat. The first thing they look for at a game now is "where is the Rip It"
Cons: none. Just hard to get. They are always sold out.
by longball42 - Apr 04, 2012
Pros: This bat is a great bat the money maybe a issue but hits great. May not be the best feel but, this bat is a power bat. I have tried out the 2012 CF5 and that is for a contact hitter bat is more of a wood pop than anything Rip or s1 is the way to go
Cons: price and sound
by Disappointed - Apr 04, 2012
Pros: Looks cool.
Cons: End cap cracked after my 14 yr old son's 3rd game. Ordered a new bat and was guaranteed the end cap issue was resolved. The end cap was cracked out of the box before my son took his first swing. 3 games and 2 bats later, my son still does not have a bat.
by HCOST - Apr 05, 2012
Pros: The bat is amazing! Their customer service is even more amazing. The bat had a small dent in it and we shipped it back to them on a Monday and had the replacement bat on the following Monday.
Cons:
by the man - Apr 06, 2012
Pros: great pop for a bbcor bat, the best we have seen so far
Cons: none
by lljv - Apr 06, 2012
Pros: very live bat, ball comes off very well. like the way it feels. good balance.
Cons: tip of bat comes off after contact. happened two times on different bats.
by C. Shows - Apr 07, 2012
Pros: love everything about it! Iam 14 on my jr high eight grade team and bombed one 375 ft.
Cons:
by plclry - Apr 08, 2012
Pros: Hits great until it breaks. Lots of pop, solid hits and made for power-hitters for about 2 weeks.
Cons: Yup, it breaks. Real power-hitters will destroy this bat in a short amount of time and we parents will have to pay for it! We've gone through two of these in the last 1 1/2 months.Sooo, I'm going to get my money back and find a bat that can handle a 17 year-old(s)swing. Very dissapointed in this bat made in America...
by E - Apr 09, 2012
Pros: LOVE THE BAT HAS NICE SWEET SPOT, EVENLY WEIGHTED, CONSISTENTLY RIPPING HARD SHOTS, TO THE OUTFIELD AND FENCE.
Cons: ALL MY TEAMMATES WANT TO USE IT ALSO

Cons: none i read alot about end cap problems we have around 800 hits on this one with no problems so far solid bat
by Bball mom - Apr 09, 2012
Pros: My son loves it... just used this bat for his first high school game and went 4 for 4.
Cons: Unfortunately, the end cap pops off. Will be contacting manufacturer.
by APH11 - Apr 09, 2012
Pros: Good pop and well balanced. Great grip.
Cons: None yet
by the flyin Hawaiin - Apr 09, 2012
Pros: i used the bat for BP once (It was my friends) and it was amazing. I had ridiculous power, and great grip. Good for power hitters, end heavy, huge sweet spot. This bat looks awsome and is probably the best bat on the market.
Cons: It has serious end cap problems but you can return the bat for a full refund or get a neww one. The bat doesnt't have very much flexibility but some people like less flexible bats.
by Gibby - Apr 09, 2012
Pros: Are you sure it's a BBCOR??? Great pop, great balance... WOW!!!
Cons: Not yet. I'm hoping the bat is durable and keeps its pop :)
by john - Apr 09, 2012
Pros: good price
Cons: but my friend got the same bat and it shattered
by woody - Apr 11, 2012
Pros: balance point is very similar to a wood bat. It's top loaded. If you can hit with wood, and have a strong snap, you'll love this bat.
Cons:
by kid 04 - Apr 12, 2012
Pros: i used this bat for the first time and fell in love. It has a huge sweetspot and even when you dont hit the sweetspot it dont sting. it also has a great pop to it.
Cons: white wrap dont even last a game
by Z - Apr 12, 2012
Pros: Nice bat. Still trying to get use to the new BBCOR bats but this one seems to be better than anything else I've used so far. Much bigger sweet spot than others i've used. Most popular bat on the team.
Cons: It's a BBCOR
by jphillie2 - Apr 12, 2012
Pros: Long Sweet Spot Great pop Great for the price
Cons: None yet.
by dare - Apr 13, 2012
Pros: this bat has great pop, and even hitting the ball of the end of the bat still letsw me hit a line drive. It has a huge sweet spot that helps me get better hits and more. I recomend this bat to anyone who wants moreand better hits.
Cons: none
by EJM - Apr 13, 2012
Pros: Good weight distribution. Durable. Good grip.
Cons: Scuff marks (so what!)
by Darrell - Apr 13, 2012
Pros:
Cons: 5 players on my son's high school team have had to return their RipIt for repairs. The plastic end cap is brittle and breaks easily. My sons had a dent in it also. Performance is the same as any other bbcor out there don't waste your money on this.
by Phil - Apr 14, 2012
Pros: Nice Grip
Cons: Not alot of pop Broke after 4 months of hitting
by double king - Apr 18, 2012

Cons:
by McMills - Apr 22, 2012
Pros: 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. Had to use it.
Cons: Nothing special. Just an aluminum stick. Sent it back and bought the easton s1. Thank god i did.
by Qman - Apr 23, 2012
Pros: Aluminum is stongest on market. End cap shot off. Bat returned and downsisized 33 to 32. Just hit a 340 ft HR. End cap forgiven.
Cons: End cap (replaced 0 problems) Heavy (downsize)
by What is this - Apr 23, 2012
Pros: Has good pop and good grip
Cons: after about a month of using it the bat dented in the center and bent at a 45 degree angle. Don't waste your money on things that break
by Baseball King - Apr 24, 2012
Pros: Best BBcor bat out there great pop and a huge sweet spot very well balenced as well. Many other reviews will say that the end cap of the bat willfall off ive hit at least 200 hits with this bat and so far i have had no problems
Cons: None
by Turtle - Apr 24, 2012
Pros: Good handle.
Cons: No pop.
by Bradin - Apr 25, 2012
Pros: The best pop of any bbcor bat Ive used and I've used alot.
Cons: I dented mine and had to send it back also my friends cap completely crumbled. There customer service is really good tho
by Big Rob - Apr 25, 2012
Pros: Just an incredible bat and even better it out performes all the broken in composites I've tested. Huge sweet spot as to be expected.
Cons: So far the bat is clean. I'm 5 11 225 and swing pretty hard, its stood up against some monster shots. People keep you high performance bats away from the cages and on game baseballs.
by cdub7 - Apr 28, 2012
Pros: good pop for a bbcor bat, all aluminum so it needs no break in period.
Cons: many say end cap comes off easy, hasnt happened to me wont happen unless u hit it off the cap over and over again
by Alex - Apr 29, 2012
Pros: Bat has great feel and pop. Balls seem to go farther then any other BBCOR bat I have used.
Cons: End cap broke within three months of using the bat.
by rhswolfeee - Apr 30, 2012
Pros: weight distribution is nice
Cons: definitly not getting what you pay for, a more expensive bat that still isnt near as effective as the easton or the S150, used it in practice and after a few weeks it already had a large dent near the grip where i had gotten jammed
by AJ - May 02, 2012
Pros: I bought this bat at a local sports store. I did actually purchase the bat unlike half of the people who leave reviews on here saying its really good. It does have decent pop for a bbcor and a very nice grip, but i do not believe it is the best bbcor bat out there. I sent mine back using rip-its 30 day money back gaurantee. They refunded all of my money and let me print out a label that covered the shipping cost. I sent mine back because my team has a white nike mc2 bbcor and i like it much much better than this bat. The Nike MC2 has a much better sweet spot and has more of the old familiar ping that we used to hear from the old besr bats. I recommend the MC2 much more than this. Another good option is the Easton XL series or more specifically the XL3 as my team owns one and we really like it. We have an easton XL3 and S3 and the XL series is better than the speed series for sure. Seriously though, look into the White Nike MC2 you wont be disappointed.
Cons: -Not the best bbcor bat on the market as its claimed to be. -Grip gets dirty fast -Lacks that satisfying ping that we all crave.
by jm - May 02, 2012
Pros: Great pop. Hit homers and doubles with little effort.
Cons: Unrelieable. After 3 games end cap popped off. Was without it most of high school season. 3 games after I got it back, it severely dented so was unusable. Had two days left on 30 day return for any reason guarantee, so sent it back. Unfortunate that a bat that hits so well is not designed to last.
by Anonymous - May 02, 2012
Pros: weighted perfectly in a 34"
Cons: took one swing with it off the end ball went a long ways and so did the cap. everyone should learn from marucci and starting making the caps like that..
by Alex - May 03, 2012
Pros: I am hitting bombs i went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and a triple, this bat has a lot of pop and it is definitely worth the price.
Cons: i havent gotten out yet
by BaseballPlayer - May 06, 2012
Pros: Great bat, with amazing pop, large sweet spot. Worth the price.
Cons:
by homer - May 06, 2012
Pros: good pop; nice grip
Cons: after 50 swings in the cage i heard a rattling sound and the end cap popped off i got a refund because of reading all of these reviews
by Jaker - May 09, 2012
Pros: looks
Cons: Poorly made. Dented two in less then 100 swings.
by Karen - May 10, 2012
Pros: Good grip and well balanced
Cons: In Feburary we purchased our first rip it bat. The bbcor prototype. It got a big dent in the barrel just beyond the return time frame so we had to replace it. Rip it replaced it with the bbcor prototype 2 bat. My son has been using this bat for about 1 1/2 months now during regular high school varsity season. Now it too has a dent in the barrel. We are extreamly disappointed with the performance of the rip it bat. Each time the bat needs to be returned he goes without his bat and has to use the team bat or borrow from someone else. I would not recommend this bat to anyone
by Rochester - May 11, 2012
Pros: Customer service. They are quick at replacing bats. Too bad they all are breaking
Cons: The RIP-IT is not durable. The first bat we bought had the end cap break off. The replacment bat has about 6 dents on it from playing in about 6 games. 1 dent for each game played?
by Michigan Baseball - May 12, 2012
Pros: Had nice handling and balance
Cons: did not live up t the "pop" that everyone said it has. would rather use a wooden bat in my BBCORE league.
by team player - May 13, 2012
Pros: Godd pop good for the price
Cons: My team together had 3 of these bats.. by the end of the season they had all broken. Most broke by the top popping off and being cracked after being hit from the end of the bat. Becuase the tip of the bat is plastic. One had a rattining inside of it as well.
by Athens Bulldog - May 14, 2012
Pros: This bat right out of the wrapper sounded and felt great! The grip was fantastic.
Cons: Within the first 2 hits the end cap came loose. Then the bat was sent back to Rip IT and was replaced with a new one, and within the next 2 games, all of sudden it started to rattle and the end cap came loose again. Returned it to Rip IT for a refund!
by bb - May 15, 2012
Pros: great pop and grip, looks nice and hits great

Cons: Wait... this bat has cons?
by American Goldwing - Oct 19, 2011
Pros: Really cool design. Grip is great, and so is the feel when you swing it. Nice long barrel with a pretty decent sweetspot for BBCOR.
Cons: Pretty similar to the original PROB, but not quite as good. I like it though. No regrets.
by Joey - Dec 10, 2011
Pros: Has a good pop, helps the ball travel futher out into the feild. i think i have the edge
Cons:

Cons: NONE

Cons:
by Lighting - Jan 14, 2012
Pros: G pa bought bat for 12 year old grandson great pop loves feel and balance . Hit a 300 ft. Shot in batting practice say a it hits like a besr bat
Cons: None
by Bacon Strip - Jan 16, 2012
Pros: I thought going to a BBCOR bat would really reduce the pop...not with the RIP-IT...reminds me of the old VooDoo pop
Cons: Everytime my son swings the RIP-IT he literally "Rips It", thus the nickname The team gave him "Bacon Strip"
by thegameguy2 - Jan 22, 2012
Pros: Good balance, best pop of BBCORs I have used, like the half inch size.
Cons: none so far
by Rip-it - Feb 01, 2012
Pros: good over all bat nice pop and evenly distributed
Cons: grip tape is a little thick other then that nothing
by baller25 - Feb 02, 2012
Pros: Its an amazing bat that has a bigger barrel than most bats out there. a little top heavy but is balanced well and has great pop for a bbcor
Cons: haven't found one
by JK - Feb 13, 2012
Pros: Bat has good pop. Comfortable Grip. Good price compared to high end well known companies. With the guarantee how can you miss? Couldn't be more pleased with the purchase.
Cons: Little end heavy, but not enough to be concerned with.
by buzzlightningplayer - Feb 13, 2012
Pros: - Great sweet spot - Well balanced - Great hit for bbcor
Cons:
by Horseman - Feb 17, 2012
Pros: It looks pretty cool...
Cons: I've used a lot of BBCOR bats in my day, and this isn't very good. I can't believe they would dare put a stamp that says this is the best BBCOR bat. This bat wouldn't be in the top 10 BBCOR bats.
by big ben - Feb 17, 2012
Pros: it's lightweight for it's size no matter what size you like. I actually got try it in store with a soar shoulder I had got that same day. It felt good.
Cons: There are absolutely no problems for this bat.
by 55229 - Mar 05, 2012
Pros: If you can catch a pitch right in the center of the sweet spot you MIGHT get a ball out of the infield
Cons: EVERYTHING
by norseforce - Sep 24, 2011
Pros: very good pop! best BBCOR I've tried so far. Also pretty balanced weight distribution!
Cons:
by coach - Feb 09, 2012
Pros: works pretty good in BP when you can time the pitch...
Cons: really, really end heavy bat. once you get into a game and have to face some off speed stuff, you will not want to swing be swinging this bat. you'll end up at the end of the bench
by Austin - Jan 19, 2012
Pros: Good Pop and Grip is nice.
Cons: Too top heavy for me.
by WNbaseball - Dec 22, 2011
Pros: Nice grip
Cons: No pop, very top heavy, bbcors are supposed to have a little trampoline, this has none. Not worth the price.
by grandslamorbust - Feb 06, 2012
Pros: great pop, fly's well but i only hit 286 home runs this year:/
Cons:
by batter up SR - Dec 17, 2011
Pros: customer service is great. I returned this bat and received a check within days. The bat how ever is not all that great. I truly have tried the Easton, Rawlings, Marucci, Rip-it and the Nike bats. Rip-it is not the worst of the bunch, but definitely not the best. Good marketing, most people will buy because of the money back policy and will never return it.
Cons: Bat does not perform $100 better that the $199 bats.
by plclry - Jan 10, 2012
Pros: Bat had good 'Pop' for less than 20 hand thrown pitches. Around pitch number 18 the bat broke. It sounds like a gravel pit when you shake it. We bought it on Friday and it broke on the following Monday. But out of the "less than 20 (twenty) pitches thrown" ,6 went over the fence.6 good hits divided by $280.00? Do the math I guess. I have the video.
Cons: See above. What a dissapointment. Good 'Pop' for less than 20 pitches with Diamond Back balls and it breaks. Now I gotta deal withthe frustration of sending back a ballistic aluminum bat for warranty...
by Todd - Nov 21, 2011
Pros: Solid, well constructed. Ball comes off well
Cons: Balance, End loaded
by Dawg888 - Oct 18, 2011
Pros: great handle and grip.
Cons: very end weighted. unless there is a long breakin period, the pop is not what they say. Been using for two weeks a the college level.
by - Nov 08, 2011
Pros: Looks good
Cons: End loaded, and not even close to the performance of the original Red prototype. Back to the drawing board rip it

Ask QuestionIs this a good bat for a contact hitter? Or would I be better off with a Marruci Black or an Easton S2?
Asked by Reid M on May 15, 2012
Most contact hitters prefer a two-piece bat. With that being said, the Marucci Black or the Easton S2 would probably better suit your needs.

I'm 5'10" and about 135 lbs, I'm a good contact hitter. What size should I get for this bat?
Asked by Josh on May 14, 2012
Based on your height and weight, our bat coach program on our website suggests that you use a 32"-33" 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II. The link to this program is http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
· May 14, 2012
Which is more end loaded? The Rip-It Prototype 2 or the Marucci Black?
Asked by BH on May 13, 2012
Both the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II and Marruci Black feel very similar in terms of weight distribution, but I would say the Black will have just a slightly more end-loaded feel... However, I would still classify both as balanced bats.

Hi, I'm 6' 195 lbs. I'm a contact hitter with great power. Which bat would be better between the white RIP-IT or the CF5?
Asked by whelz on May 08, 2012
If you hit with a lot of power, the RIP-IT Prototype II may be a better option. It is a stiff, one-piece bat that is often preferred by stronger hitters.

What effect do dimpled batting cage balls have on this bat? I have heard that they damage them but I am not exactly sure how. (Denting, cracking, making it lose pop, etc.) If it makes it lose pop, how many hits do you think it takes for that to take effect?
Asked by LH on Apr 22, 2012
Dimpled cage balls are very dense and will shorten the lifespan of your bat. It could lead to denting of the RIP-IT Prototype II's alloy barrel and it will limit the overall effectiveness. We recommend having a bat specifically for cage work and save your game bat for games.

What is better the PROB2 or the Marucci Black?
Asked by JB on Mar 29, 2012
It is difficult to say without knowing what kind of hitter you are. The RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR bat is a one-piece aluminum bat and the Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design with an aluminum barrel and composite handle. Both are great, high performing bats. Power hitters typically prefer a one-piece design and contact hitters typically prefer a two-piece design.

I used the Easton SV12 last year and I loved the feel and balance it gave me. Will this bat have a feel and balance that the SV12 gave me, if not which bat does?
Asked by JFid on Mar 26, 2012
The new Easton S2 is most comparable to the SV12 in terms of overall feel and balance. Like the SV12, the S2 is a two-piece hybrid bat. Also, the new S2 is designed with a low MOI (light swing weight) just like the SV12. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a great bat, but it is more of a power balance giving the bat more of an end loaded feel.

What is the difference between the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 and the RIP-IT Prototype II PROB2?
Asked by dan on Mar 16, 2012
The main difference is the internal carbon composite sleeve in the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID2. The internal composite sleeve in the Louisville Slugger provides greater handle stiffness. Both bats are very durable high performing bats and it really comes down to personal preference between the two.

I am 16 years old and for the past 10 years of my baseball career I have been using the Easton Stealth before the new certification. I was wondering if you would prefer this bat or any others that have almost the same feel as a Stealth does when the baseball comes off of the bat.
Asked by Jimmy on Mar 15, 2012
If you want something similar to the Stealth, I would look at the Easton S1. It is a two-piece composite bat like the Stealth and will have a similar feel. Here is a link to the Easton S1: http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-s1-bbcor--bb11s1-adult/14439/

I am 6'0" 165 lbs. power hitter. I am a sophomore in high school. Should I use this bat or the Louisville Slugger Z-1000? Also, what size should I get? 32.5 inch or a 32 inch?
Asked by Jon on Mar 14, 2012
Based on your height and weight, the recommended size for you would be about a 33 inch bat. You can certainly use a smaller bat if you feel more comfortable swinging a smaller size. If you are a power hitter, either the RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR bat or the Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000 BBCOR bat would be perfect for you! The biggest difference between the two bats is the material they are made out of. If you prefer a composite bat, the Z-1000 will be perfect for you, but if you would rather have an all alloy bat the Prototype II is the way to go!

Would you suggest the RIP-IT Prototype II or the Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000?
Asked by Big Down Low on Mar 07, 2012
Both bats are great bats and a couple of our top sellers. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy bat, power balanced, and has an extended sweet spot. Since the Prototype II is an alloy bat, it does not require a break-in period and is hot right out of the wrapper. The Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000 is similar, but it is a one-piece composite bat and has a balanced swing weight. Although, the Z-1000 is a composite bat, this particular model does not require a break-in period.

I am not sure if I should get the RIP-IT Prototype II or the new Easton Speed Series. I am a contact hitter. Would the RIP-IT help me hit with more power? I am 5' 3" and 105 pounds. Which bat would better suit me?
Asked by dillon on Mar 06, 2012
If you are more of a contact hitter, I would suggest going with a two-piece bat. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a great bat, but it is a one-piece power balanced bat, which is usually better suited for power hitters. Contact hitters usually prefer a two-piece bat because these bats offer a little flex when swinging, so they help more with contact hits. With that being said, a contact hitter can still use a one-piece bat. If you are looking at the Easton Speed Series and would like a two-piece bat, I would suggest checking out the Easton S1 or S2.

The RIP-IT Prototype II and the Marucci Cat 5 are both great bats. The biggest difference between the two bats will come down to personal preference. I talk to customers all day and the jury is still out about which is better. Based on your height and weight, a 33 inch bat is recommended. With that being said, the Marucci Cat 5 33 inch model has lost its BBCOR certification. All other sizes of the Cat 5 are still legal.

The RIP-IT Prototype II and the Easton XL3 are two very popular bats and both have had great reviews. Both of the bats have a slight end loaded feel which adds power and both are one-piece alloy designs. Deciding which bat you want really comes down to personal preference. They are very comparable bats with different brand names.

Is the RIP-IT more end loaded than the Marucci? I have narrowed my choices to these two bats and would like the one with a balanced feel for a single/double hitter and allow good bat speed. Also, would a 29oz 32in be good for a 5'7'' 130 pounder?
Asked by Tyler on Feb 29, 2012
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a power balanced bat. It depends on which Marucci you are comparing it to. The Marucci Cat 5 is very comparable to the RIP-IT Prototype II as they are both one-piece alloy bats. The Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design that is designed more for a contact hiter. I would recommend a 32 inch bat based on your height and weight.
· Feb 29, 2012
I am more of a singles hitter. Will this bat increase my gap to gap power and even homerun power?
Asked by zmoney on Feb 29, 2012
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece bat that is usually preferred more by power hitters. A one-piece bat is pretty stiff, which helps with power hits. If you are more of a contact or gap hitter, a two-piece bat would probably better suit your needs. A two-piece bat offers more flex and creates a whip like effect that helps with contact hits.

Based on your height and weight we recommend a 32/29. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is an excellent bat and it does have a slightly end loaded feel. However, if you recently used a wood bat, the Prototype II slightly end loaded feel shouldn't be an issue for you.

My new bat has a loose particle inside the bat that you can hear rolling around. Is this a manufacturing issue? In addition to being irritating, will that effect the performance of the bat?
Asked by Doug on Jan 25, 2012
Typically when this happens, it is a piece of epoxy or glue that the manufacturer used to seal the end cap on the bat. A piece of the glue may chip off and then you hear the piece rolling around inside the bat. More than likely, this sound does not effect the performance of the bat. However, it will be covered under the manufacturer's warranty through RIP-IT.

The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy bat. The Easton S1 or the Easton XL1 are the top of the line for Easton, which are two-piece fully composite designs. The Easton XL3 is the most comparable bat to the RIP-IT Prototype II. They are all great bats and either way you decide to go, you will be satisfied.

Asked by GiantsfaninDallas on Jan 21, 2012
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is one of the hottest selling BBCOR bats out right now. The Prototype II has the one-piece stiff feel that he is looking for and it features a power balance, meaning the weight it going to be balanced more towards the end of the barrel.

My son is 13 6'4" 200lb. Incredible power! Believe it or not, I think a 32" is good size (against faster pitchers)which is a better bat, RIP-IT Prototype II or COMbat B3? Which is better balanced? I'm confused, is this a composite or aluminum? 1 or 2 piece?
Asked by bballdad on Jan 18, 2012
With his height and weight, he should be able to swing the 33", 30 oz. bat. As to which bat, it is a tough call. Both are going to offer what he needs as a power hitter. The COMbat B3 and the RIP-IT Prototype II are both one-piece bats. As to which one would be better, the Prototype II is an all alloy bat with great pop, but a power balance towards the end of the barrel. The COMbat B3 is a one-piece full composite design and also power balanced. The decision comes down to composite versus alloy and what his preference is.

My son is a contact hitter with power if that makes sense. I have been reading all the reviews and questions and while I know you can not choose sides of one particular bat company over another all I do is come away confused with what I am reading. I am looking for a well balanced bat that will give him the control and pop he is looking for. So far we have reviewed the RIP-IT Prototype II, Rawlings 5150 (both models) and Marucci Black. I know that you can't have the best of both worlds but which bat comes the closest for contact and power?
Asked by dhkhdhdhch on Jan 10, 2012
I totally understand your confusion. I have two sons, so I know where you're coming from. If it were me, it would be a toss-up between the RIP-IT Prototype II, which is a power balanced one-piece bat, and the Marucci Black which is a well balanced two-piece hybrid. The Black will have a little more flex in it, better for contact hitters. The PROB2 will be stiffer, better for power hitters. Both are fine bats and among our top sellers. The Rawlings 5150 Velo and the Alloy are similar to the Prototype II as they are also one-piece designs. The Rawlings 5150 Velo is probably the most well balanced of the one-piece designs.

Last year in college, I used the white Voodoo in the 2 hole and led my team in homeruns but i would not consider myself a power hitter. I would say more of a contact gap to gap hitter. Im between this new RIP-IT, the new Voodoo, the Marucci Black, and the S1. I want a balanced bat that is going to provide good pop. any suggestions?
Asked by b.adams on Dec 25, 2011
If you had a lot of success with last year's Voodoo, I would stick with the Voodoo. That's my mentality when it comes to hitting. If I had success with a specific model, I stuck with it. Whether that meant getting the new year's model or purchasing the same model (if I was able to). If you want something different, the S1 would be a great option. It's a little more balanced than the Voodoo and great for contact hitters. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is more a power hitters bat as it is a one-piece design and power balanced.

I hear this bat loses "pop" after a while because it is made of alloy material, is this true??
Asked by I OWN THIS BAT!!! on Nov 01, 2011
The Prototype II is a bat that is going to keep its pop for a long time as long as the bat is kept up. This is going to be one of the hotter BBCOR bats on the market.
· Nov 01, 2011
I'm kind of scared of getting this after my last RIP-IT had to be recertified. Is that a reasonable worry?
Asked by hi on Nov 01, 2011
RIP-IT has taken the necessary precautions to ensure that the Prottotype II does not go through the same re-certification process as the original Prototype. It shouldn't be a problem.
· Nov 01, 2011
It is an understandable worry, due to all the rule changes. But as of right now, this bat has all the certifications required for 2012.
· Nov 01, 2011
Which one is a better bat, the RIP-IT Prototype II or the Marucci Cat 5? I really don't know if I'm a power hitter or a contact hitter. I'm 5'8" 156 lbs. I usually hit doubles to the wall and singles. Not so much homeruns. Usually 1 homer every 40-50 ab's . I'm really conflicted .
Asked by mark on Oct 30, 2011
Both are high performing one-piece alloy BBCOR bats. I've hit with both and would say that both have similar pop. I really liked the feel of the Cat 5 though and it was a little more balanced in my opinion. The Prototype would probably be better suited for a strong power hitter though.
· Oct 31, 2011
How does this this bat compare to other top bbcor bats like the Power Brigade?
Asked by AJ on Oct 29, 2011
In my opinion, the RIP-IT Prototype II will be right up there with the best BBCOR bats. I really like the new Speed and XL bats from Easton. I haven't hit with the S1 or XL1 BBCOR bats yet, but I anticipate they'll also be two of the better BBCOR bats to date.
· Oct 30, 2011
Does the RIP-IT Prototype II have any sting? Does the grip get dirty fast? What would you recommend: *Both BBCOR* DeMarini CF5 or the RIP-IT Prototype II? I like pop and no sting and I want a bat that doesn't get dirty fast.
Asked by BanningBaseball on Oct 27, 2011
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II doesn't have any more sting than many of the other BBCOR bats available. The grip should be fine as long as it is taken care of. The DeMarini CF5 and the RIP-IT Prototype II are both great bats but differ in the fact that the Prototype II is a one-piece alloy design and the DeMarini CF5 is a two-piece fully composite design.
· Oct 27, 2011
Best for bat speed? If not what is?
Asked by dave on Oct 26, 2011
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy design and has a power balanced feel, meaning that the weight of the bat is balanced more towards the barrel of the bat. A lot of players looking for a bat to assist with bat speed will look more towards a two-piece bat as it is more flexible and provides more of a whipping action when swung.
· Oct 27, 2011

Does the Protoype II have a metal sound or a dull thud like many composite BBCORs, i.e.TPX Z-1000 and Omen?
Asked by Al on Oct 20, 2011
It's more of a dull thud. If you look at the RIP-IT Prototype II on our website, there is an audio link in the top right corner of the main product image. Click on the audio link and you'll be able to hear what the bat sounds like.
· Oct 21, 2011
Does the whole, "If bought in this amount of time it will be sent the same day" mean anytime within that? or starting then?
Asked by lefty on Oct 17, 2011
That means the product will ship anytime within that time frame. If it say 3 hours, that means any order placed between now and 3 hours will ship out the same day.
· Oct 17, 2011
Is the RIP-IT 2011 Protoype Reloaded a detuned version of the original, meaning, does not hit as well and is heavier?
Asked by Charlie Crash on Oct 08, 2011
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult version is just as hot as the previous years model. All BBCOR bats have been regulated more strictly and won't be as hot as any previous BESR certified bats.
· Oct 09, 2011
Why is the 32/29 weight option no longer available??
Asked by The One on Oct 06, 2011
As of 04/21/2012, we have the 32 inch 29 ounce model in stock. We run a live inventory system on our website and if we have the bat in stock, the sizes that we have it available in will be posted. As soon as we sell out of that size, we do our best to remove that size option from the site.

Will there be any other rule changes?

I have heard that this bat (2011 model) was banned and lost its BBCOR ranking. It could not be used in High School or College. Is this true and does it have the rating back and are the schools and colleges going to allow this bat again?
Asked by Jambie on Oct 05, 2011
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified. An older model of the Prototype lost its BBCOR certification, but they restested the bat and it gained its BBCOR cerfification back. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is legal for high school and collegiate level play.
· Oct 05, 2011

I am more of a contact hitter? Is the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo or this bat a better fit for me?
Asked by HB on Oct 01, 2011
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo and the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II are both great bats and will be a great fit for you. The biggest difference is that the DeMarini Voodoo is a two-piece bat and the Prototype II is a one-piece design. Many contact hitters prefer a two-piece bat as it provides a whipping like action when swung. Many power hitters prefer a one-piece design as it is a little stiffer when swinging the bat.
· Oct 02, 2011
You say the RIP-IT is a twp-piece bat. The description above says its a 1-piece. Which is correct? If the RIP-IT is a 1-piece, how does it compare to the COMbat B3 with the above requirements?
Asked by Clint on Sep 28, 2011
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy bat with great pop and good for power hitters. The COMbat B3 is a one-piece full composite design. They are both great performing bats with the biggest difference being that the RIP-IT is a one-piece alloy bat and the COMbat B3 is a one-piece composite bat.
· Sep 29, 2011
I'm a power hitter. I want max balance, max pop, big sweet spot and max stiffness. Between the RIP-IT and the Combat B3, which would best satisfy these requirements?
Asked by Clint on Sep 28, 2011
The new Prototype II has the extended sweetspot, it's Power balanced for maximum balance. The RIP-IT Prototype II is a great bat! B3 also, excellent bat. Super sweetspot, nice balance, excellent pop. The main difference between the two is that the Prototype II is a one-piece alloy and the B3 is a one-piece composite bat.
