New for 2013! COMBAT's new B4 Portent XL is not just any big barrel bat. With it's enlarged 2 3/4 inch barrel, the B4 Portent XL has a HUGE hitting surface and COMBAT's new FULL BARREL SWEETSPOT! Yes, you read that right. There is no such thing as a mishit with this bat, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. It all starts with COMBAT's Localized Stiffening Technology that allows their engineers to lower barrel wall stiffness on both sides of the normal sweet spot, resulting in an enlarged sweet spot area where absolute maximum performance can be achieved! The 100% composite, one-piece B4 Portent XL utilizes COMBAT's Blended Fiber Technology that blends several different fibers in varying proportions at carefully controlled angles to create a composite material that results in both resilient durability and increased trampoline effect. Separation Barrier Technology also allows this bat to be HOT out of the wrapper! SmartFlex and SmartPly technologies work together to make this the smartest bat ever constructed. The result is a continuous store-and-release monster that will allow players to think beyond the warning track, beyond the wall, and beyond the park. COMBAT: For Players, By Players. The B4 Portent XL features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Hot right out of the wrapper, amazing feel, cheaper than most of the other high performance bats with being as good if not better.
Cons: Paint chips at the end cap.
by Very Impressed Player - Jun 25, 2013
Pros: I've had this bat for 5 days and I have 6 homers. Not one dent
Cons: nothing of the sort
by Pat E - Oct 28, 2013
Pros: Purchased this bat for my 9 year old grandson based on reviews and it has not disappointed us. Great pop out of the box. His hitting seems to have improved instantly. First at bat hard line drive past short stop. Second at bat hit by pitcher. Third at bat best hit ever. Had wind not been blowing in hard towards home plate it would have been over fence. Sadly, the rain started and cancelled the tournament. His confidence has greatly improved using this bat. Very pleased. Can't wait for next game.
Cons: None yet
by cole - Jun 07, 2013
Pros: has a lot of pop and wouldn't want anything but it
by harrison - Jul 09, 2013
Pros: best bat for tse on the market. I would recommend for clean up and 5 hole hitters(more for power)t.and by the way 22 homeruns with it.
by Thunder1 - Jul 21, 2013
Pros: Great Pop out of the wrapper. My son has had the 2-5/8" version but this new 2-3/4" version is way hotter. I would equate it to the original B1 Bomb! For the $$$, there is not a better -10 senior bat on the market. This thing hits bombs if you are a strong hitter. Easton is about to loose some market share!
Cons: Now we have a 2-5/8" Portent, 2-5/8" Combat Pure and a 2-5/8" Marucci Elite sitting in the bag collecting dust.
by Slugger 23 - Nov 22, 2013
Pros: Great bat very good pop.
by k - Dec 22, 2013
Pros: i hit 10 homers in 10 games
Cons: nothing is wrong
by Coach Eddie - Jan 29, 2014
Pros: Bat has tons of pop. very little vibration if any. Turned into my travel ball team favorite bat. I actually have kids swinging this instead of the Mako. Once its broken in its hot
Cons: Took a while to break in.
by chasemayer13 - Feb 04, 2014
Pros: amazing pop right out of the wrapper. nice grip.
Cons: I broke my B3 first BP session. got the B4 broke it after two weeks. three other people on my team broke their B4, portents, B3 etc.
by Doug - Mar 09, 2014
Pros: Bat was very hot
Cons: bat chipped during during some practice games which I was not worried about, son was hitting it strong but he is no babe ruth. played a tournament the next weekend after going 4 for 7 with a triple, double and 5 RBI's checked the bat again and it is toast found 4 or 5 cracks - so no durability.
by Paul - Oct 21, 2013
Pros: sounds great, no break in time, hit line drive true double first at bat lots of pop ball really jumps.
Cons: nothing yet
by Anthony - Mar 14, 2014
Pros: Great feel and pop right out of the wrapper
Cons: After 10 swings the bad had cracked. Have sent back for a one time replacement. At thi rate I will get 20 swings out of two bats. That breaks down to about 5 dollars a swing! Spend more and get a company you can trust.
by Chipper - Mar 19, 2014
Pros: This bat was on sale for so I wasn't expecting much. My 9 year old son loves the feel of it. He dropped back down a size to get the faster bat speed. It is definitely going to be a good season. He hits the ball hard off the T and during the game, his teammates also love the bat.
Cons: Black paint always chips easy
by Travel ball dad - Mar 24, 2014
Pros: The barrel is huge and very balanced. The bat is hot out of the wrapper and gets hotter as it breaks in. Everyone that uses it loves it.
Cons: It doesn't sound like a composite bat, when hit. It actually sounds like it is metal.
by RoughRiders Coach - Apr 05, 2014
Pros: good pop out of the wrapper for young hitters. My 6yr old hits with more power because of this bat. big Difference between a cheap aluminum versus this for coaches pitch. not sure of the durability
by Logan - Apr 15, 2014

by cole - Jun 07, 2013
Pros: all i can say is its a great bat and i love my combat B4
by Nate Ebbert - Oct 24, 2013

by Sam - Jun 14, 2013
Pros: Has a lot of pop. I would prefer it to a power hitter.
Cons: It busted after 5 tournaments.
by big hitter - Oct 13, 2013
by Anonymous - Jun 16, 2013

by Anonymous - Jun 16, 2013
Pros: It has a lot of pop I have hit 3 home runs with it and a player on our team has hit a 280 ft. shot and it was a home run. It has a lot of pop.
Cons: It breaks so fast, it broke on me, so it lasted like 6 months.

My son is 7 years old (will turn 8 Sept 1st). He is big for his age (56" 115-120lbs) and is moving up to play with pitching machine/kid pitch, Mustang league. What do you recommend? The chart says 29" but I wonder if 28" is better for now.

In many of the reviews/comment sections for this bat and the TPX it is with in the bat pack, it says the bats cracked or broke after some uses. How do you handle that situation, how long is it warranted from you vs manufacturer? What is you customer service in this situation? TY
Asked by Bigswat28 on Mar 22, 2014
All bat warranties are through the manufacturer. If you ever have a defect in a bat you only need a copy of the receipt from us and the warranty number for the manufacturer. If you do not want to pay for shipping to the manufacturer, you can ship it back to us using our free return label and we can forward it on to the manufacturer for you.

Please help me choose between this and the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL: SL136XL Senior League. My 7 year-old son is just under 60 lbs and about 52" tall. I am thinking a 28" -10 and his biggest need is more bat speed to increase power.
Asked by Jeremy on Mar 21, 2014
The COMBAT B4 Portent XL (B4SL210) and the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL (SL136XL) are both very high performing bats that are very balanced. For a younger player that needs more bat speed we recommend a -12 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL112).

I am just starting baseball and I am wondering if this is a good bat to start with and what size I might need? I am 5ft tall and 114lbs.
Asked by bmxking on Mar 05, 2014
Yes, the COMBAT B4 Portent XL: B4SL210 Senior League is a very solid bat that will offer quality performance. For someone your size, we would recommend a 30" bat, which is the longest bat that we offer in this model. You could also elect to go down to a 29" bat, depending on if you are more comfortable with a slightly smaller bat, or if you like to stand closer to the plate, or other variables of such nature.
