Review Summary

New for 2012! Riding high with the tremendous success of the B1 Alloy, COMbat introduces their first hybrid bat design! The Grifter was constructed using all kinds of innovative new technologies and features as COMbat continues to prove that they are more that just the composite bats that made them a household name. The barrel of the Grifter is made of Titanium Enhanced Alloy that gives this bat a solid feel and serious durability. Gear Inside Technology creates a special tapered geometry inside the barrel that consists of elongated grooves that provide a softer feel, greater performance and a HUGE sweetspot! The handle of the Grifter uses COMbat's new Mongrel Composite Construction that removes the whip feeling in traditional two-piece bats, providing one-piece performance. This means more power at the plate, while still giving contact hitters that much sought after flex. The Grifter also employs COMbat's secret Resonance Proof Taper. Combined with Gear Technology, this taper provides for ZERO STING and VIBRATION!! With an alloy barrel, 1.15 BPF and 2 1/4 inch barrel, the Grifter is approved for most major youth leagues. COMbat: For Players, By Players! The Grifter comes with a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Review This Batby combat player - Feb 18, 2011
Pros: great pop! one of the best bats made by combat and legal for little league. the bat also has great feel and durablity.
Cons: none

Pros: So far this bat has been excellent. My son hit with it today after 3 months away from baseball. He hit 7 long homeruns with it in approximately 60 swings. It is comperable to his cf4 from last year. I am not ready to declare it a "better" bat, but it is similar in pop. He did say he felt very little vibration from the bat even with bats hit at the end of the bat or on the handle. Overall great bat.
Cons: None.

Pros: Great feel like a composite bat and great action off the bat
Cons: None..It's a combat
by Gcombat - May 31, 2011
Pros: I'm not a power hitter and everytime i hit with this bat the ball flys i'm 10 and on a allstar team and when i hit the ball it feels like rubber
Cons: theres no way theres going to be one
by 99fan - Jun 14, 2011
Pros: My son has been close to home run with his B3, but has not yet have one over the fence. About 5th swing in batting practice with Grifter was over fence. Then my son hit his 1st ever home run in 1st at bat with this bat.Went 4 for 4. His team mate used the bat and had 2 home runs and 1 being a grandslam. This bat is way better than the B3 which we have too. Ball flies off bat.
Cons: Absolutely none. Anybody that negatively reviews this bat needs to look elsewhere not at the bat for faults.

Pros: Great pop better than B3 gear... nice paint job...
Cons: None
by Happy Coach - Mar 02, 2011
Pros: Awesome bat! I just got it and my son used it in first team practice yesterday. He hit 4 bombs on his first 10 swings and was crushing everything. The bat has great balance and pop. He likes it even more than his B1 and B3. Can't wait for the season to start! Buy this bat!
Cons: Now all his teamates want to us it!
by Lil_T_42 - Apr 07, 2011
Pros: Had to purchase a new bat for Little League this year. He had been using a Miken Freak the last two years. This is his first ComBat and he loves it,ton of pop right out of the box. Very balanced and huge sweet spot. We will be buying another ComBat next year!
Cons:
by Tonys dad - Feb 28, 2011
Pros: My son loves it. He has the b2 and the b3 gear both -12. It has as much pop if not more as the either of those. Just in time for little league. He is excited and confident.
Cons:
by T-Man - Mar 03, 2011
Pros: Who needs composite??? This bat is every bit as hot as the B3 Gear or B1, it is amazing. This will become the new standard!
Cons:
by Biloxi Bomber - Apr 23, 2011
Pros: Great bat! A lot of pop. As my son would say "this bat is beast" This bat is as hot as his old B3.
Cons: None so far
by Bob - May 07, 2011
Pros: Lots of Pop Very Little vibration or sting
Cons: None
by falcon63 - May 25, 2011
Pros: Bat has a lot of pop as other people have billed it. The bat seems to be well balanced and easy to swing. Does not whip like other end loaded bats. Son has hit four homeruns in six games. Compares it to his form Demarini CF3 Pitch Black that he shattered
Cons: Significant vibration if you hit the ball off the metal rings between the handle and the bat head or if you hit the ball off the end of the bat. Otherwise the product is as discussed by others

Pros: I bought this bat for my son (Age 9) 3 games into the season. There were no overnight miracles since he was still getting into his groove. Yesterday we had our 2nd playoff game and he hit two (2) homers, the first of the season in his division. Yes 2 homers in one game! Of course all of the kids are wanting this bat, and the other team was making sure it was legal, which it is (in our league). I highly recommend this bat.
Cons: None
by Grifter Lover - Jun 16, 2011
Pros: This bat is amazing! I am not a homerun hitter, but this bat is good for contact and linedrive hitters. Massive sweet spot. I would take it over any B4 or Omen
Cons: It makes everyone else's bat look bad.
by kobe - Apr 22, 2012
Pros: this bat has excellent pop hit 7 homeruns fells like 1 piece bat it awsome!!!!
Cons: white hand gets dirty but other than that its great
by Cam - Apr 11, 2011
Pros: We purchased the -10 drop bat 30" 20 oz bat. My son is 4'8" about 105 pounds. The bat is very balanced and not end weighted like the CF4. The -10 drop bat has a long barrel 2" longer than this one. He hit an inside pitch yesterday 210 feet. The bat has lots of pop straight out of the box. He has used the Easton Omen in a 30" 18 oz. Weight, and likes this bat. Both bats feel very balanced.
Cons:
by - Feb 25, 2012
Pros: great bat hit 2 homers with this in our last tourment its amazing great pop you need to get this bat
Cons: takes a while to break in
by JB - Mar 26, 2012
Pros: my son likes the grip and the look. prefers to use it over his techzilla. hits good line drives with it
Cons: I don't think it has the pop of some other bats. i think the 3 year old techzilla is better and alot of kids are swinging the new eastons and they seem to be getting a lot more pop as well. We've had many Combats and they always rock, can't say this one does
by Jakes Dad - Mar 01, 2011
Pros: Lots of pop Great Balance It's a Combat Little League Approved
Cons: Alloy
by Batrup - Jul 06, 2011
Pros: My 12 year old son loves this bat. Above average pop. He used it 2 months and tonight in practice it broke in half just above the grip. Not even on the transition. It broke just at the top of the grip. Will get another just because of the warranty, but am a little nervous with the All-Star tournament approaching.
Cons: Broke above the handle.
by Batman & Son - Jul 09, 2011
Pros: The Grifter has decent pop for an alloy. We were able to use it in colder weather earlier in the season. Little League approved.
Cons: My son switches between a B1 and the Grifter (same size) in batting practice and the B1 has at least 30-40 extra feet. No comparison.
by TX Blaze - Jan 01, 2012
Pros: The bat is well balanced
Cons: called combat and was looking for a 27" 15 oz and was told they didn't offer that size anymore. They said the bat kept breaking. After talking for a minute they said they did have them. They said they must have figured it out. Bought one with hesitation, and should have stuck with my instinct. You have to hit the ball right on the "B" or the ball goes no where. Not to mention two kids on the team dropped the bat after a swing due to the vibration. I do not recommend this bat in this size and weight. Switched over to the Easton S1 and it is performing much better. Stick with making one piece bats COMBAT
by luckie waller - Jun 03, 2011
Pros: Its a nice looking bat but the pop is not there every body on my sons team used it and were grounding out and not getting solid hits
Cons: I bought the bat on may 1st and a month later it broke in the middle and it chipped right away and not good pop at all my power hitters that hit home runs and doubles were hitting ground balls back to the pitcher and soft little hits. Once i get the replacement im selling this bat
by Johnny G. - Jun 23, 2011
Pros: It's a nice looking bat with a great feel when batting. The bat (30 / 18) is also well balanced. Decent pop but not too impressed. Would recommend a different Combat like the B1, or the B2, which you can't use in Little League.
Cons: Too much hype about this bat & not much of a pop. Not worth $199. Kids on the team tried it & stuck with the Easton. My son switched to the Easton Speed XL & liked it a lot better, better pops. The sweet spot on the Easton is much bigger than the Grifter. Sorry Combat, not a fan of the Grifter. Too much hype about this bat and not too much pop to it. Other kids tried it and skipped

is this bat better than the b4 by1
Asked by dhwdv on Nov 12, 2011
Both are going to be good models, the grifter is a full alloy design where as the b4 is a full composite design.
· Nov 12, 2011
I didn't see the Grifter on the "approved" little league site.....is there somewhere online that officially says it's approved for Little League play ? My son plays in the majors in Oceanside CA...10-12 year olds...
Asked by mase on Mar 03, 2011
The Grifter has an alloy barrel and it is 100% legal for Little League play. It doesn't have to be on any "approved" lists because it has an alloy barrel which indicates that it is legal according to Little League's rules and by-laws.
· Mar 04, 2011
That is a question better answered by your league official or coach. We are not a governing body so it is tough for us to accurately quote each individual league. They will have more up-to-date insight into any new rules or restrictions for the full-composite bats.
