Review Summary
based on 43 ratings. 43 user reviews.
The DeMarini D243 is made from a performance grade maple, which gives it the strength and durability one would expect from a maple bat at a great price. Wood bats that are made from Maple are stronger than the standard Northern White-Ash bats, which is common among pro stock models. The D243 Maple has an evenly balanced design giving it maximum speed for quicker swings. The D243 combines composite materials for exceptional durability and Pro Maple on the barrel for premium wood bat sound and performance. Maple has increased in popularity over the years because of its durability and it gives more power than a normal white-ash bat since the maple wood is much stronger. As with all Demarini bats, the D243 is skillfully crafted from knob to barrel, still cut and graded by traditional methods to ensure that only the best wood is used. This Demarini D243 Maple Wood Bat is ideal for high school, college, and adult senior league and minor league professional baseball players. Free Shipping.

Review This Batby Vic - Nov 13, 2008
Pros: Good Solid Bat. Great Weight and has good pop! I recommend this bat for those in wooden bat leagues.
Cons: NONE SO FAR.
by wazgood - May 16, 2010
Pros: Hits extremely well. Light, durable (so far) big barrel. Simply the best wooden bat I have every had
Cons: slippery handle but pine-tar or a grip is easy
by home run 2 - Dec 22, 2008
Pros: this bat is sweet i went to a wood bat tourney and hit one 400 ft. i also hit 5 home runs is 3 games with it it is good never breaks and is light wight
Cons: you will need to buy some pine tar or some tape it is slippery
by big hitter - Jun 15, 2009
Pros: this is one of the best bats i've ever had wood or aluminum. This is a good bat to get.
Cons: The handle is slippery
by PMac4da2009 - Jun 16, 2009
Pros: Good bat for transitioning from aluminum to wood, especially for the younger player, aged 13-15. Weight being placed in the end makes for good power transition to ball. Balls hit between the logo and on pro maple emblem are true. Warranty really hold up. Bat lasted an entire season in 25 and up mens league before breaking, in a season on 25 games. No fear of breaking bat on inside pitches.
Cons: Hard to go from all wood back down to composite bat. Found bat to be light in hands afterwards. If you swing a -3 you might consider going up an additional inch in length for this bat to adjust to wood bat weights. I use 33" wood and 34" Pro Maple now.
by 5cent - Jun 30, 2009
Pros: This is the bat for you power hitters. Its end loaded with great feel. I use the DX110 but also have this one. All the power hitters on my mens league use this one.
Cons: Slippery handle.
by FTT_MN - Jul 14, 2010
Pros: This bat is awesome. I have played amateur baseball for 5 years now and have always used real Maple bats before trying out this composite. This year, with this bat, I have hit 3 home runs, 9 doubles, 5 triples, with a .451 average and .770 SLG% leading our league in AVG and SLG%. My highlights with this bat include a 430 foot home run to left center (fence was 400 to center, 465 to left center).
Cons: No cons. I don't think this bat can break! I've had hits off the handle of this bat that surely would have broken the maple bats I've used in the past.
by next star - Jul 23, 2010
Pros: good bat use it for high school.Good bat 2 buy if u wanna save money because it dont break
Cons:
by JC - Jul 27, 2010
Pros: It is like driving a 4 cyclinder Accord, it does the job well with little flash. The feel off the bat is muted and the sound is muffled to a full maple bat, but pop is similar and as advertised it won't break. I have used it a lot in the cage and probably 75 game AB's. I figure it has saved me from breaking about 3 bats which is where the value is with this bat. I would buy it again if it broke
Cons: The cap showing length on the handle dissappeared sometime within warranty period. Didn't want to lose bat for a couple of weeks to get it replaced.

by Fitz - Apr 28, 2011
Pros: The ball jumps off the bat nicely. The weight is distributed very well and is a true minus 3. It is holding up very well after several wood bat tournaments.
Cons: The grip is slippery but nothing some pine tar can't fix.
by rocket - May 23, 2011
Pros: lots of pop for a wood bat i would recomend this for a power hitter love the weight destrobution
Cons: whats a concern
by kkok - Jun 03, 2011
Pros: Great bat especialy if your trying to save money ive used the same bat for 2 seasons plus all my practices still has pop after about 5000 hits.
Cons: It looks like its been to hell and back twice very beat up
by Buck - Jun 30, 2011
Pros: I did not know how far wood bat technology had advanced until I got the DX243. This thing is a trophy! It also hammers the baseball. Thanks for a superior product.
Cons: My only regret about this bat is that I did not have it during 1957 when I started 10th grade. That is not the bat's fault.
by Gmac9 - Jul 13, 2011
Pros: Pop is exceptional for wood. Our entire team uses thois bat for our legion games (not an exaggeration) and it hasnt broken and thats been about 1000 at bats and 100 jams atleast. and not even a crack.
Cons: You need to use Pine tar. A lot of it. It will slip out but if thats the only worry, Then this is one exceptional bat.
by Silver Slugger - Oct 11, 2011
Pros: Nicely balanced and very good pop! Never thought I could like a non-metal bat but this is a great stick!
Cons: Having used metal for so long the handle without a grip felt somewhat slippery. I just bought a replacement grip for $5 and problem solved!
by TommyGun - Jan 26, 2012
Pros: Great Bat, good feel, solid construction.
Cons: Check your local rules, bought it for a wood bat tournament and found that "composite" wood bats are not allowed. Bought an M9 instead
by JB24 - Jan 29, 2012
Pros: This a very durable, high-performance bat. It has an end-loaded feel with a moderate "sweet spot".

Cons: none so far
by tarheel6 - Feb 23, 2010
Pros: excellent service and I can't wait to use the bat.
Cons:
by Vantri - Dec 09, 2010
Pros: Beautiful bat with excellent balance and feel. Despite the sound off the bat, the ball comes off the bat nice.
Cons: Very slippery handle. I broke my first bat after 7 at bats on a pop-up to the pitcher. I broke the second bat after 5 at bats on a bloop to short. In total, between game time and batting practice I figure the total investment ended after a return of approximately $1.00 per hit. Kayla at Demarini replied to my e-mail request that chances of a second replacement were "very slim to none".
by chipper jones - Mar 14, 2011
