Review Summary
based on 14 ratings. 14 user reviews.
The DeMarini D271 is made from a performance grade maple, which gives it the strength and durability one would expect from a maple bat at a great price. Wood bats that are made from Maple are stronger than the standard Northern White-Ash bats, which is common among pro stock models. The D271 Maple has an evenly balanced design and has a cupped end giving it maximum speed for quicker swings. The D271 combines composite materials for exceptional durability and Pro Maple on the barrel for premium wood bat sound and performance. Maple has increased in popularity over the years because of its durability and it gives more power than a normal white-ash bat since the maple wood is much stronger. As with all Demarini bats, the D271 is skillfully crafted from knob to barrel, still cut and graded by traditional methods to ensure that only the best wood is used. This Demarini D271 Maple Wood Bat is ideal for high school, college, and adult senior league and minor league professional baseball players. Free Shipping.

Pros: Doesn't break, Nice Grip, Good Sweet Spot, Looks Amazing, Great Flex
Cons: Everybody wants to use it, Almost too beautiful to hit with, if you hit the ball hard on the seams it kinda dents
by sarge14 - Nov 25, 2011
Pros: looks great. has good pop. more flex than I was looking for but all around very good bat. unbreakable!!
Cons: handle is a little slick if you don't use anything but tape, gloves or pin tar fixes that.
by HRking 808 - Sep 15, 2011

by Ballplayer14 - Dec 16, 2010
Pros: I'm a high school baseball prospect out of California and I have to say the DeMarini Composite Woods are by far the best bats to have with you at college showcase tournaments. Very durable, almost impossible to break and have amazing pop. Worth the money
Cons: A little more pricey than a regular wood. Split the cost and the use of the bat with a teammate!
by ballplayer6 - Nov 02, 2010
Pros: bat has great pop and take a lot to break.
Cons: not balanced more top heavy. i use a 33 baum bat and bought the dx271 in a 33 and was no where near the balance of a baum bat. or the louisville 271 model. ended up selling it on craigslist wasnt worth the 130.

Would this bat be able to be used in a batting cage with the dimpled balls?

It should be, but to be honest, if you plan on using the bat for games too, I wouldn't. But if it is to be used as predominantly a practice bat, it will be ok.
