Review Summary
3.834951 based on 103 ratings. 103 user reviews.
New for 2012! This bat features the USSSA 1.15 stamp and is legal for use in 2012! Easton truly believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power. However, the road to power hitting is different for every player. Some players need extra bat speed to reach their full power potential, while others need more weight and a bigger barrel. That's why Easton is changing the game this season and taking an approach to bats that no other manufacturer has ever tried before. Introducing the POWER Brigade; Two series, one distinct result. Whether you prefer the fast swinging Speed Series or the heavier extended barrel XL Series, POWER will be your outcome. Forget flashy designs and gimmicky names, these bats produce RESULTS. The Speed Series (S1, S2, S3) features the lowest Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) on the market to create light swing weights and generate more power. On the other side of the spectrum, the XL Series (XL1, XL2, XL3) features extra long barrels designed to give players expanded hitting zones and more mass in the barrel, generating more power in every swing. Easton really does strive to fulfill the preferences of any type of player as both series come in two-piece IMX Composite designs (S1 and XL1), two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Aluminum hybrid designs (S2 and XL2), and one-piece THT100 Aluminum designs (S3 and XL3). As for the materials, Easton's patented IMX Composite has proven to be one of the highest performing materials in the game year after year, while THT100 Aluminum provides superior dent and crack resistance. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology and you have a new line of bats that is second to none. Easton: We Believe In Power! This bat features the USSSA 1.15 stamp and is approved for play in 2012. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Confirmed,--same Rival Pop without the dents, great balance and amazing distance and son loves the BLACK & YELLOW graphics!
Cons: None yet, we probabaly hit over 100 balls and no dents, last years Rival had 3 dents just from hitting 20-30 ball off the tee!!!
Pros: my son loves his new bat , great pop, no dents so far , better than Rival
Cons:
Pros: Bought this for my 10 yr old son 1 month ago. He has been using it at practice 3 times/week. He has never been a "power hitter" more up the middle type of hitter. My son, his coach and I have noticed the ball traveling a lot further when he hits. At practice the other day (cool, damp day) he actually hit the fence consistently. His hits up the middle also seem to have more power/speed. 2 months ago he was using a Worth and not hitting as hard, so I don't think its a "kid is older" issue. No dents. Good grip. I never was one to believe that a bat could "improve" a hitter but in my sons case it has.
Cons: My concern is with the end cap. Another coache's kid was using the same type of bat and after two practices the end cap popped off. His dad mentioned that he saw another end cap pop off from another bat. I don't know if it was a bad batch (These two coaches odered at the same time from another supplier)or is there an issue with the glue. Keeping my fingers crossed it was just a bad batch.
Pros: 7 y/o Son loves the look. Hard to find a 27" 17. Glad we found it. Son had a 26" 15 easton stealth last year. He likes the ping sound when he connects much better than the composit of the stealth. Had it about 2 weeks. We hit a 6 gallon bucket a balls every night getting ready for the spring season and no dents yet. Hasnt had the chance to use it in a game yet.
Cons: White scuff marks from the balls mess up the cool black and yellow look; but thats baseball baby!
Pros: Great pop right out of the box! Great grip and great look!
Cons: None
Pros: amazing pop,can hit bombs
Cons: dented in the first day
Pros: Nice Pop, nice design, 7 yr old son hits the ball pretty well with this bat
Cons: No performance issues at all!
Pros: I hit in the cage with this bat and no dents and really good sound.
Cons: No cons so far.
Pros: Nice Pop right out of the wrapper. Son has only had 2 rounds with the bat, but the bat definitely seems better than last years Rival.
Cons:
Pros: Great bat, Great graphics. My son is ripping the baseball hitting it into the net. CANT WAIT to try it in the batting cage, and practice.
Cons: NONE SO FAR.
Pros: Both players on the same team like the bat so far in practce. Tournaments start next so we will how the bats perform.
Cons: Stings on hits near end cap. Sons teammate snapped his S3 in two pieces during batting practice.
Pros: great bat before the dents
Cons: bat dented after twenty balls of soft toss bought a new bat because rival replacement was on backorder have to send back new i bought and use the replacement bat son is worried if the new bat will dent too
Pros: The kid loves the new bat. Seems to have a lot of pop regardless of where the ball hits the bat and good overall feel. He also likes the design.
Cons: As with any other bat review, the bat is only part of the story. If the Batter does not have skill, the bat makes little difference:)
Pros: Hit his 1st homerun on a rainy day with this bat. Has a lot of pop when ball is hit coorectly. My son is not a big 10 yr old and yet he is consistently hitting to the outfield with this bat. Loves it
Cons:
Pros: bat has pretty good pop right out of the wrapper
Cons: was dented during the first game of the first tournament of the year
Pros: This bat looks good and hits good
Cons: The bat does hit good, but we noticed dents the size of baseball on two sides of the bat. This bat was used at one tournament and practice less than a month. Easton gave a credit refund to be used on their site, the problem is, it's on back order-what good is that? I had to order on another site and I can't use the credit towards this site.
Pros: awsome bat no dents line drive every time
Cons:
Pros: lightweight, huge barrel and great grip
Cons: none
Pros: it has great pop and is not heavy
Cons: it chips easy
Pros: Great pop. Well balanced. Ball flies off of bat.
Cons: Bat dented on a line drive first game out. Returning it for a new one.
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Hit about 10 game balls and now has a ball sized dent in it. How can they even get away with selling these bats? I will never buy another Easton bat! Worst of all it's made in China!!! Really we American's can't make bats? I am just disgusted with the amount of money I just flushed down the toilet on this bat!
Pros: Great pop right out of the box. My 11yr old 115lb kid DID well with it. We picked this bat as it was the closest thing to a 5150 (that he loved). New team can only swing Easton bats.
Cons: End cap keeps coming out about 1/8-1/4 of an inch after making good contact. Had an umpire tell us he has seen that with many Easton bats this year. I don't mind paying good money for a product as long as I get a good product. I also can't send it back and get another (we play every weekend). It is now his "practice" bat. Hey Easton you have a quality control problem !
Pros: Great hits in the few time my son used it and a nice grip.
Cons: Bat has a HUGE dent in the center between the S & T of Easton after my son's 2nd tournament plus multiple small dents. Easton has this bat on backorder until the end of May which is the end of the season. Easton said that they do not have any replacement bats. Spent $200.00 on a bat that he will never use!! EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED with the company!!!!
Pros: great pop baught a cf5 and the cf5 does not compare to the s3 its well balanced
Cons: spent money on a cf5
Pros: OH MY GOSHHHHHH! BETTER THAN ANY OF THE COMPOSITE HYPE THIS STICK IS THE BOMB REALLY WAY AHEAD OF THE OTHERS AWSOME BAT! ITS GOT POP BABY!
Cons: ALL THE OTHER KIDS WANT ONE TOO PARENTS MAD AT ME
Pros: Great balance, Great pop, Dent free!
Cons: None so far. Son loves it, Dad couldn't be happier
Pros: Great Pop !! Solid Performance !!
Cons: None
Pros: great bat to use in the game.
Cons: never stop useing it its a great bats
Pros: Lots of pop, great balance, awesome graphics. Easton has a winner here. The S3 builds confidence every time my son uses it!
Cons: Nothing at all!
Pros: great pop nice grip nice feel balanced good look everybody on my sons team is buying it he had a v grip it had an OK pop compared to this bat the v grip has no pop
Cons: NONE
Pros: Great pop every one on my team is buying this bat I had a v grip it has no pop compared to the s3 nice look nice grip.
Cons: NONE
Pros: AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: great pop straight out of the box. really hit some bombs with it
Cons: none yet
Pros: I bought the 29/19 for my 9 year old. He has no problem swinging this bat. This bat has good balance, even with the massive barrel. Seams to have good pop. Love the paint scheme as well.
Cons: Haven't had the bat long enough. No dents so far. keeping my fingers crossed.
Pros: Has good pop real good grip nice design.
Cons: Has a small dent first time out for batting practice in the process of exchange.
Pros: Bat has great pop and seems to hold up better then Rival. Son hit one ball off fence and a home run with it first tournament with it. Bat is smooth and easy to swing no hand shock at all.
Cons: none so far
Pros: My son's team swings nothing but Easton S Series this season. Last weekend, due to the cold weather (high 40s to low 50s), everyone hit S3s. In 4 games, our team hit 7 home runs. Before last weekend, our team's previous high was 2 home runs in a weekend. I didn't see any other teams hitting the S Series bats exclusively-- and, interestingly enough, no other teams had near the home run output that our team had. Coincidence?
Cons: Hope our rivals don't figure out our secret.
Pros: Great bat when it wasnt dented, comparable to the old Rival
Cons: Bat first dented after 1 1/2 months. Tried to RMA online w/ Easton like they suggest and was ignored. Called to get RMA after a week of waiting only to be told that the bat is on backorder till the end of June (currently 3/15/2012). Was told I could get the 2 5/8" but it was still on backorder till end of April. Wouldnt upgrade or give me a refund, was told I just had to wait. Pretty unacceptable in my opinion. This is my sons 5th Easton (2 rivals, stealth, and 2 1/4" S1) and will be his last.
Pros: This bat is awesome at my tournament today i hit the fence twice !!!!
Cons: No Cons at all!!!!!
Pros: Was good out of the wrapper .
Cons: now that we have used this bat for 3 mths it seems to have totally lost its pop .
Pros: Got the 29'/19 for my 8 yr old son. 1st season using Big Barrel. He's hitting "Lasers" with this bat. I'm a big Easton fan, used the brand in college and have always loved product. Opening day Dble Header last week, he hit a "come backer" Rope, so hard at the coach, he almost needed medical attention. I highly recommend this bat. Solid sound, great cosmetics.
Cons: ZERO.
Pros: Quality Bat, Great pop, Easton bats are tops.
Cons: None
Pros: Great bat with lots of pop!
Cons: None
Pros: Great Pop!!! We have several Full Composite bats (Omen, Combat, Demarini) on our team - this bat beats them all. My 10-yr old switched to this bat and it added 20 ft to his ball. He hit his first one out of a 200ft field with this bat.
Cons: Used all pre-season and for first 2 tournaments and is starting to dent.
Pros: Bat looks great has a lot of pop but it dents easy.
Cons: the bat dents to easy I do not reccomend this bat and horribal customer service on easton part
Pros: Huge pop off the barrel, unbelievable balance. Kids that were using much lighter bats are able to handle this with ease. Builds confidence in every level of hitter. First time my 8 y/o son was up he one hopped it over center field. Now he can't wait to get up to bat. Team has every bat imaginable and this one is by far superior. Out hits all of them
Cons: Paint chips very easily. Have several spots chipping after a couple weeks use. That's it!!!
Pros:
Cons: dented on first hit ever
Pros: Only used it 3 games great pop, the ball flys off this thing!
Cons: All the other kids want to use it but they dont want to take care of it!
Pros: Nice grip, cool graphics
Cons: Don't get this bat! I had this bat and it dented in my first school ball game! I got it replaced and it dented again im my next school ball game! I got it replaced again and it dented in my first travel game!
Pros: This bat has a lot of pop. Well balanced. Love the grip. Kids launch the ball. Great looking too!
Cons: None so far
Pros: GOT SOME POP GOOD BAT
Cons:
Pros: Great bat, durable, excellent pop, love the one piece design and the balance of the bat. 8u son uses it in CP AND KP tourneys.
Cons: Besides yellow paint chipping nothing!!!
Pros: My son loves the look of the bat! It is balanced well and easy to swing.
Cons: He has played one 8 year old coach pitch tournament and the bat is already dented and stings his hands really bad. He doesn't want to use the bat anymore because of the sting. I had several of the boys try the bat at practice and they all threw it down and said it stung. I have sent the bat back and waiting to see how the new one does. Was told I couldn't sent it back again that the next bat was not warranted. Sure is early in the season for a bat that is this expensive to be broke and then no warranty? I would not purchase this bat again.
Pros: Awsome pop my son hit it over with this bat a lot
Cons:
Pros: has very good pop and very good grip.
Cons: its top heavy i feel other bbc -3 bats and they feel lighter then the easton s3
Pros: This is a great bat for my 9 year old. He swings it well and it has great pop. He also has a Marucci Cat 5 and he seems to hit the Easton farther and with more ease.
Cons: None.
Pros: This bat has great pop and I have gotten this bat for my son and so far he has hit 4 HR with it in a total of 7 games played.
Cons: On mine luckily it has not yet got dented but on most bat owners say it will get dented very quickly
Pros: My son loves this bat. He has hit better than he ever has and feels very confident when using it. The team loves using his bat as well. They are playing like pros!
Cons: None!
Pros: great pop
Cons: wont hold up dents my kids are 10 and 11 we are on our fifth one since christmas but atleast they are returns from last year
Pros: This bat rocks. Has great pop and distance. My 8 year loves the batn
Cons: None
Pros: SO FAR SO GOOD...CRUSHING IT WITH MORE POP THAN LAST YEAR...SON LOVES THE BAT
Cons: NONE YET
Pros: great grip great pop out of the got the 31 21 hit every ball at the cage haven`t gotten to use it in a game
Cons: white scuff marks but nothing has affected the bat
Pros: It is a very good bat i have had alot of good hits with it.
Cons: None besides the white scuffy when i hit the bat.
Pros: Great pop and dont dent easy!
Cons: Because its black you can see scracthes but good!
Pros: Great bat has great pop better than any other bat on the market. It has defintly changed my hitting with more power and more hard hits. better than demarini worth louisville slugger or any other bat you could think of . Love this bat!!!!!
Cons: none
Pros: Easy to swing and good pop. The boys really like the bat but...
Cons: Bought several of these for our travel teams. All are denting. The wait time to get a replacement is long which tells me it's a big problem! The Easton Rival was known for denting and unfortunately this bat has the same issue.
Pros: nice pop and great feel while swinging. hit multiple homeruns with it.
Cons: have had this bat for at least 2-3 months and has multiple dents on after playing about 6 tournements with it
Pros: awesome pop, best bat we have used to date
Cons: none
Pros: no. dents. great pop
Cons: none
Pros: Has great pop hit 3 homers already with it...but that doesn't mean anything I hit 1 with the 5150 an 1 with the vertex but it's a great bat took a while to dent
Cons: notice I said dent..... The bat has two dents and a few tiny ones a bunch of paint chips also. Another unusual thing is my friend has the same bat and after two tournaments it bent it looked like a banana. Another friend had the same bat and it was almost flat on one side
Pros: good pop i think ive been hitting bombs.
Cons: had it for a month and its dented in like 3 spots.
Pros: Has lots of pop. Fair price.
Cons: Busted after about 8 games. Easton Company takes 3 weeks to return right during travel ball this is rediculus
Pros: its the best bat in the world
Cons:
Pros: great pop
Cons: end loaded
Pros: well i like the bat over all it has major pop out of the wrapper hit 3 the went 320 to 340 and im 12
Cons: i uses it for 4 months and it broke on the inside and it broke on a double so idk if i would recommend it
Pros: Amazing bat great pop great grip huge sweet spot better than the rival. Just got out of my cast and i hit with it for the first time yesterday and i was bombing it every swing. I LOVE THIS BAT SO MUCH!!!!!
Cons: Haven't found any yet
Pros: I hit with this bat in practice and I hit 9 home runs over the fence no lie grate pop and bounces off bat so fast.
Cons: There isn't any at all at possible.
Pros: were cool looking good flex and pop ne dents
Cons: a little hevey for some people
Pros:
Cons: after 10 hits end cap came lose
Pros: so far so good
Cons:
Pros: Like many of the Easton bats it's easy to swing. Has good pop. AND unlike the Rival has proven to quite durable. No dents thus far. Nice bat.
Cons: Cost is too high. Would give it 5 stars if it was priced lower. If it wasn't for the new USSSA stamp I would have waited until next season when the price drops.
Pros: The Awesome Grafics.
Cons: After three hits i had two home runs and three dents. Terrible Don't buy. The rival has more pop and doesn't dent. It would be good if it didn't dent. I am a really good power hitter and this was the bat i was recomended to. I recomed the easton rival or the rawlings 5150.
Pros: i love it
Cons: asome
Pros: Very quick shipping and easy to work with in getting the bat to our door.
Cons: In 20 hits in BP with game balls, the bat is oblong with some caving in 2 areas. Very disappointing after all the rave reviews of how good it was. Pop? I didn't see very much. The Vertec seems to be double the pop.
Pros: to much people use it most people on my team think its goos well i dont only 1 can hit good with it
Cons: not comftorable grip
Pros: Nice graphics
Cons: Not as much pop as rival the ball dosent explode off the bat
Pros: Looks good with alot of pop.
Cons: dented after just 7 hits.In 80 degree temps. Alot of money for just 7 hits!!!!!
Pros: great pop, luv da graphics, sweet handel, can't wait to get my first home run!
Cons: none
Pros: best bat
Cons: 12345678910

Cons: Not a bit
Pros: none
Cons: bat has no pop and doesn't compare to last years rival. Just sent it back to Easton for a replacement. I have seen other kids using the same bat type bat on other team hitting bombs. I think my son just got a bat with no pop. We will see if it was just that.
Pros: Very nice looking bat. Feels great. Large sweet spot
Cons: Visible dents after first use
Pros: Great pop from this bat. Very balanced. No dents thus far 300-400 hits during practice. Cant wait to see it in our first tournament in 2 weeks!!!
Cons: With a black and yellow bat the sweet spots turns white quickly. So the great look gets tarnished quickly.
Pros: It sure does look good. The “pop†seems to be there but no more than any other good 1.15 USSSA bat.
Cons: STING-STING. This thing will sting like a wasp if you hit it on or near the end-cap. I suggest you look at another bat before spending your money on this one
Pros: good looking bat, seems more durable than last year's Rival
Cons: Not nearly as much pop as the Rival.
Pros: None
Cons: Used bat twice in cage batting practice and already have two small dents and one big dent..

Ask QuestionMy grandson has been using the Easton bat from a teammate. 30in 20 oz. Does it come in 18 or 19oz? 10 year-old.
Asked by super sport on Apr 29, 2012
If your looking for an Easton S3 that weighs less, his only other option would be the 30" 17oz. Other than that, he would have to swing the 30" 20oz S3. Here is the link to view the youth S3. http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-s3--yb11s3-youth/14532/

Will this bat dent up?
Asked by cj on Apr 21, 2012
The Easton S3: SL11S310B Senior League is a very durable bat, so it shouldn't dent as long as it is used the way it was intended to be used. If you do have a problem with dents, you have a one-year manufacturers warranty with Easton.

When is the Easton S3, 2 3/4 barrel going to be available in a 29/19?
Asked by Jason on Apr 20, 2012
The Easton S3:Sl11S310B is currently on order. We receive shipments on a regular basis. As soon as we receive the item in our warehouse, we will update our website.

My son needs a 33" - 9 bat for USSSA league play. I cannot find one on your site. He'd prefer an Easton. Is there a bat available under this criteria? Thanks. ~Ann
Asked by Ann Chmelar on Apr 04, 2012
Unfortunately, the only bats that come in that size are Fastpitch Softball bats. We have plenty of options for a 32" -9 bat though. Those can be found here: http://www.justbats.com/products/length~32%20inch/length%20to%20weight%20ratio~-%209/baseball%20bats~youth%20big%20barrel/

Easton makes S1, S2, S3 & XL1, XL2, XL3. "XL" or "S"? What goes into decision?
Asked by Rasquire on Mar 25, 2012
The "S" and "XL" lines are part of Easton's new Power Brigade series. The S-series is a balanced bat designed for line drive and gap hitters. The XL-series is end loaded and features an extended barrel and larger sweet spot. Here is the link to the Power Brigade series and everything we offer. http://www.justbats.com/products/?s=brigade+series

Is this bat Dizzy Dean approved?
Asked by tom on Mar 22, 2012
Yes. The Easton S3 SL11S310B is legal for ages 5-12 in Dizzy Dean baseball. It meets the USSSA 1.15 BPF standard and possesses a clearly identifiable manufacturer's stamp.

Is this bat BBCOR approved?
Asked by Doogie on Mar 22, 2012
The Easton S3 is not BBCOR approved. Only adult -3 bats will have the BBCOR certification. The S3 model that is BBCOR certified can be found here: http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-s3-bbcor--bb11s3-adult/14437/

My son is still 5 yo (6 in Jun) but playing up in coach pitch - big for his age, tall and 60 lbs, and strong. Been using a 15 oz but at last practice tried a 17 oz big barrell and was crushing drives into the OF. Trying to decide b/t this and the XL3 (only negatives of which I have read are the dents). Which of these 2 bats would you recommend for him, assuming he could grow into and use for couple seasons?
Asked by George on Mar 20, 2012
The main difference between the two bats is the weight distribution. The Easton S3 is a more balanced bat and the XL3 has more of an end loaded feel to it. If your son is pretty strong and has a strong swing, he could probably use the XL3 without a problem. However, if he doesn't have a strong swing I would probably suggest going with a balanced bat, like the S3.

Even after looking on Little League site I can't determine if this bat is legal for Little League Junior level ( 13 & 14) ?
Asked by John on Mar 14, 2012
This bat is not legal for use in the Junior Little League. This particular bat has a barrel diameter of 2 3/4 inches, which is not allowed in this league. The S3: SL11S310 has a barrel diameter of 2 5/8 and is legal for play in the Junior Little League division.
Jennifer Expert · Mar 14, 2012
My son is 7, 4'5", & low 50's weight. Right now he swings a 28" 18.5 oz LS TPX. Does a 30" (-10) sound like too much bat for him? Also, would an S or XL series be better?
Asked by toal97 on Mar 13, 2012
As a general rule of thumb, you want to move up an ounce or two in weight every time you purchase a new bat. A 30 inch -10 should be good for him. I would lean towards the S Series as they will be more evenly balanced.

Can this bat be used in Dixie Youth Ozone baseball?
Asked by Dudes on Mar 12, 2012
With the information that we have here, this bat will not be legal for use in the Ozone division. Bats with a barrel diameter larger than 2 3/4 are not allowed to be used in this league. Since rules can change from league to league I would suggest checking with your league official to make sure though.

What is the biggest difference between the S2 and the S3?
Asked by Gman on Mar 03, 2012
The S2 is made of a two-piece hybrid design meaning it has a composite handle to decrease vibration and an alloy barrel. The S3 is a one-piece alloy design and has great pop right out of the box!
Kole Expert · Mar 03, 2012
Which bat S series should I get. I am a contact hitter and need a light balanced bat with great pop, large sweet spot, absorbs sting, and needs no break in period.
Asked by d pain on Mar 01, 2012
Two piece bats like the S2, are usually better suited for contact hitters. The S3 is a one piece alloy. It is stiffer and usually preferred by power hitters.
Kara Expert · Mar 01, 2012
Could I use this under USSSA and BBCOR rules?
Asked by jackmandoo on Feb 28, 2012
This does have the new USSSA stamp and is legal in that regard. Only Adult baseball bats have to be BBCOR certified and this is not an Adult baseball bat.

My son can swing a 28in 19.5oz, will this Easton bat be to heavy if I get it 29in 19oz?
Asked by david on Feb 27, 2012
Nope. You'll actually be moving down a half ounce and it shouldn't be too heavy for him.
Tyler Expert · Feb 27, 2012
Which is the best bat out of this series?
Asked by Matt on Feb 23, 2012
The Easton S3 is a one piece all alloy, the Easton S2 is a two piece with a alloy barrel and composite handle, and the S1 is a two piece full composite. The S1 has more pop, lighter feel and a bigger sweet spot of the three.
Brad Expert · Feb 23, 2012
My son is 11yrs old and is a solid double and triple hitter. He hit well with the orange/white Rival 2010. Due to rule changes for the second straight year we have to buy a new bat. As an expert would you recommend the Easton S3, S2, Louisville Exogrid2, Black, Vertex, or Worth Prodigy? He swings a 31" 21Oz. Thanks! I would suggest that bat companies give more demo bats out to let players hit like the golf companies do!!! Thanks Baseball Dad
Asked by Baseball Dad on Feb 21, 2012
If he hit well with the Rival, I would lean toward the S3 since it was made to replace the Rival. So much of hitting is psychological, especially for younger players and it's good to stick with what has been successful for him in the past. This is especially true for younger players. The next closest options in my opinion would be the Vertex and Worth Prodigy.

Can this bat be used in USSSA ball by my 11 year old son even though it's called a "Senior League" bat?

My son has a 2010 Rival -10. Was this bat end loaded or balanced? Which would be closest the S3 or XL3?
Asked by Stephen on Feb 15, 2012
The Rival was a balanced bat. The S3 will have similar feel to the Rival. The XL series has a slightly end loaded feel.

My son has a 29" 20oz Voodoo big barrel. It is a little heavy for him. He likes the weight of his 18oz Omen (regular barrel) but I would like to get him a 2 3/4 but I do not want a bat that is going to dent up. What should I get him - I was thinking about this in a 29"??
Asked by Calvin on Feb 08, 2012
The S3 is going to be one of the best 2 3/4 inch bats out there. This would be an excellent choice.

Is there any kind of weight difference from the 2 5/8 S3 and the 2 3/4 S3? Will both bats swing the same?

Which is the better bat between the Easton S3 Sl11S310B and the TPX Omaha SL126XL?

Both bats are great choices. They are both going to be a one piece alloy design, be pretty balanced and perform very similarly. You really you can't go wrong with either one.

MY son is an 11u 65lb, contact hitter. Should he get the S1 or S3?
Asked by jtslugger15 on Feb 02, 2012
The difference is the S1 is an all composite bat and the S3 is an all alloy bat. The S1 has a slightly lighter feel then the S3 all alloy bat. Choosing between the two will be more on what he likes and feels better swinging.
Kris Expert · Feb 02, 2012
What is the difference between the 3 levels of this bat?
Asked by NCBearcat on Feb 01, 2012
The difference between the S1, S2, and S3 will be a difference in materials used in each bat. The S1 is an all composite bat, the S2 has an alloy barrel, composite handle, and the S3 is all alloy.

Is it top heavy, and is it a good bat like they say?
Asked by skedter on Jan 26, 2012
This will be weighted more towards the handle of the bat, giving a hitter more control than with a end loaded bat. This bat is awesome!

My son is swinging the SV12 29/19 now and swinging it well, however it is not USSSA stamped. I cant decided on a series...
Asked by coach of a coach on Jan 25, 2012
Easton will have two different series, the Speed series and the XL series. The Speed series is more designed for contact hitters and players needing to increase their bat speed. The XL series is designed for more of the power hitters and will feature a little larger sweet spot. The S1 and XL1 is the replacement for the Omen, which is going to be a two piece composite. The S2 and XL2 is going to be the replacement for the Surge, this bat would have an alloy barrel and composite handle. The S3 and XL3 is going to be a one piece all alloy and this is the model that is replacing the Rival.

My son is a contact hitter moving out of wood bats. He's 14 and swings a 32. Should he stick with a -3 or move to -10 and two piece or one piece?
Asked by dino on Jan 25, 2012
A -3 bat will be much heavier than a -10. If he does not have to swing a -3 yet there is no reason to get that size. Most contact hitters like a two piece feel but this will be more of a personal preference picking between one piece and two piece.
Kris Expert · Jan 25, 2012
My son plays 11u select. He's always swung a -10 composite bat and I've been debating on giving this alloy bat a try. Any thoughts/concerns about moving from a composite to alloy? Are there any potential issues my son might have due to the material differences?
Asked by Baseball Mom on Jan 24, 2012
Alloy barrel bats will not require a break in period unlike composite barrel bats. Composite barrel bats require 150-200 swings off the tee or soft toss to help fully break in the composite fibers. A composite barrel bat will give him the most pop with more usage.
John Expert · Jan 24, 2012
There are many alloy bats out there that are very high performing. The difference between alloy and composite is that alloy is going to be at its highest performance level out of the wrapper, compostie material is going to take a break-in period and get hotter with time and use. This SL11S310B is a great choice.

Asked by Storm21 on Jan 23, 2012
The Easton S1 replaced last years Omen, the S2 replaced the Surge, and the S3 replaced the Easton Rival. The Easton S2 is what you would want to be looking for.

Asked by citadel15 on Jan 09, 2012
Does your league allow the 2 3/4" barrel? If not, the SL11S310 Senior League (without the B behind it) is the 2 5/8" barrel that is most commonly used. And yes, either would be perfect for a contact hitter.

Asked by Joseph on Jan 06, 2012
The difference is the SL11S310B will have a bigger barrel which will give you more surface area to make contact with the ball. Both bats are evenly balanced and have good pop.

What advantages/disadvantages does a 2 3/4 bat have over a 2 5/8 bat? The 2 3/4 is allowed in my sons league as long as it is a -10. Looking strongly at the S3 B.
Asked by Capp35 on Dec 29, 2011
If your son can use a 2 3/4" barrel then get that size. The probelm with a bigger barrel is that some leagues do not allow that size. The bigger barrel will give him more contact with the ball and better pop.

What would you recommend for a 105lb 5/3" 12 year old with power and good bat speed XL or S series?
Asked by nighthawk13 on Dec 14, 2011
The Speed series will give you a faster swing speed as the XL series has a more end loaded feel and may slow your speed down. Both bats will have very good pop and a nice size sweet spot. Choosing between the two is based more on what he can swing comfortably.

My son is an 11u player and has hit the TPX EXO SL12EX2. The TPX has held up extremely well. My son likes the feel of this bat in the store but how does it compare?
Asked by pc on Dec 13, 2011
The EXO is made differently. It is a one piece alloy with the composite inserts. The S3 is an all alloy bat and will have a little more balanced feel.
Linda Expert · Dec 13, 2011
In a lot of questions, you respond that power hitters tend to prefer one piece bats and that contact hitters prefer the double wall style-- what's the reasoning?
Asked by jdrb on Dec 12, 2011
Yes, it is true. The reasoning is with a one piece there is no flex when the ball makes contact, so they get more of their power hitting abilities behind the hit. With the 2 piece bats (not all but most) are designed to have a bit of flex, so when the ball hits the bat, the bat bends giving the batter an extra push.
Linda Expert · Dec 12, 2011
Why do you say the S3 or the XL3 is better suited for power hitters and not contact hitters? What is the difference in the SL3 and XL3?
Asked by dirtbag on Dec 12, 2011
Generally, power hitters prefer one piece bats, and the S1 and S2 are two piece. The XL3 has an extended barrel and a more end loaded feel than the S3.

My 9U (75 lbs) has good bat speed, but tends to lag the bat head a little bit. He does better with a well balanced bat vs. an end loaded or barrel heavy bat. So which is the best option S1, S2, S3. Sounds like the new XL's wouldn't be the best option.

Asked by David on Nov 28, 2011

Asked by Dbat on Nov 24, 2011
If you don't like a one piece alloy like the Cat 5, you might look into the Easton S2: SL11S210. The SL11S210 has a little less vibration due to the two piece design.

Asked by dcoach on Nov 24, 2011
They both are one piece all alloys. Both are 2 3/4" barrels, both have huge sweet spots. The biggest difference is the S3 has lower M.O.I. for faster bat speed, and the connexion for vibration reduction. The S2 has a bit more of the technology.
