Review Summary

New for 2012! Easton truly believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power. However, the road to power hitting is different for every player. Some players need extra bat speed to reach their full power potential, while others need more weight and a bigger barrel. That's why Easton is changing the game this season and taking an approach to bats that no other manufacturer has ever tried before. Introducing the POWER Brigade; Two series, one distinct result. Whether you prefer the fast swinging Speed Series or the heavier extended barrel XL Series, POWER will be your outcome. Forget flashy designs and gimmicky names, these bats produce RESULTS. The Speed Series (S1, S2, S3) features the lowest Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) on the market to create light swing weights and generate more power. On the other side of the spectrum, the XL Series (XL1, XL2, XL3) features extra long barrels designed to give players expanded hitting zones and more mass in the barrel, generating more power in every swing. Easton really does strive to fulfill the preferences of any type of player as both series come in two-piece IMX Composite designs (S1 and XL1), two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Aluminum hybrid designs (S2 and XL2), and one-piece THT100 Aluminum designs (S3 and XL3). As for the materials, Easton's patented IMX Composite has proven to be one of the highest performing materials in the game year after year, while THT100 Aluminum provides superior dent and crack resistance. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology and you have a new line of bats that is second to none. Easton: We Believe In Power! This bat is approved for play in all major youth associations. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

by Big D - Feb 04, 2012
Pros: Light bat, nice barrel for a 2 1/4 and bat is long.
Cons: You can feel the vibration when not hit on the sweet spot.
by The Web - Jan 21, 2012
Pros: Long and light. Great weight distribution. Long sweet spot.
Cons:
by Robert's Mom - Feb 15, 2012
Pros: Great Pop to the bat - better production out of this bat than a previous less expensive bat. Worth the money. Shipped to me right away. Thanks for the great service.
Cons: The bat I ordered had a cracked cap (black cap at the end of the bat). JustBats replaced the bat without delay and I received the new bat within 2 days of returning the original bat. It's a con and a pro!
by Murphy - Mar 19, 2012
Pros: Bought one for my son. In soft-toss he has added 20-30' of flight and the grounders are definitely harder vs his Mattingly V-Grip. I have seen a few mis-hits but he hasn't complained of stingers. Another kid showed up with an S2 but we haven't had BP since these bats were bought. I'm interested to see what $40 bought. I chose the AL bat bc of the better durability. I'm not sure though if it's (composites) an issue in the handle.
Cons: None so far.
by dhhhggghhh - Jan 08, 2012
Pros: this is a light bat but a huge barrel this bat is DEFINITELY worth the money
Cons:
by dugout - Apr 20, 2012
Pros: My son is 7. Using 29/16 bat. Bat is evenly balanced, not end loaded due to longer barrel. He consistantly hits nice hard liners to the outfield. For his size and age that's great. He says no sting. For the price, this bat a steal.
Cons:

by Arch - Apr 23, 2012
Pros: Easy to use for 7 and 8 year olds. Makes a great sound when hitting. Great bat

Ask QuestionMy son is playing Little League. He will turn 11 in a few days. He is 5ft 1 in., and 101 lbs. What size bat is good for him?
Asked by tdub on May 18, 2012
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 31" 18oz Easton S3.

Is it a good power bat?
Asked by KH on May 13, 2012
Power is actually produced more by the player than the bat. But, if you are looking to improve your swing to help generate more power, the S3 is a great option.

My son is 12 and he is in majors and will play Babe Ruth this fall. Will this bat be ok for Babe Ruth?
Asked by deb on May 09, 2012
The Easton S3 should be 100% legal for use in a Babe Ruth league. It meets all requirements for this league and is stamped "Approved for Play in Babe Ruth Baseball".
· May 09, 2012
Does it have better composite than the DeMarini Voodoo?
Asked by vodoo man on May 03, 2012
No. That is because the S3 is a full alloy bat and does not contain any composite.
· May 03, 2012
My boy is 7yrs old, 51" and 54 lbs, a skinny, wiry kid. He is in machine-pitch league, 37 mph. He has great bat speed with the 27" TPX Omaha from last year and making great contact and a high batting average, but bat seems small for him. We want a good bat at a good value that will work for him. S3 or something else?
Asked by bigdaddy on Apr 29, 2012
The Easton S3 would be a great choice for him. It is very balanced and great for a player with some power. We recommend a 28" based on his height and weight.
· Apr 30, 2012
which is the better bat for a ten year old? the easton s3 or the 2012 demarini voodoo
Asked by slammer on Apr 28, 2012
Both bats are great options. The YB11S3 has a stiffer feel to it because it is a full alloy design. The composite handle on the voodoo give it more flex through the zone.

What is BBCOR certified? I am looking for a bat for my grandson that is 12 years old and thought about the 30/17. What do you think?
Asked by Bama on Apr 15, 2012
Only Adult bats with a -3 length to weight ratio will be BBCOR certified. Youth bats like the YB11S3 are not eligible for BBCOR certification. The average size bat for a 12 year old is 31 inches in length with a weight between 21 and 26 ounces.
· Apr 15, 2012
Is this BBCOR approved? Also what features does the S3 have?
Asked by Antonio_M on Apr 09, 2012
This bat is not BBCOR certified. Only adult -3 bats will have that certification. The S3 is a one piece all alloy bat. It will be very stiff, balanced and it has a light swing weight. Can I hit homeruns with this bat and the TPX Omaha YB116?
Asked by bri on Mar 13, 2012
Most of hitting homeruns comes down to the hitter swinging the bat, not necessarily the bat itself. If you're a homerun hitter, you should be able to hit a homerun with either bat
· Mar 13, 2012
My son (8YO, 55" 75lbs) is currently using a Mattingly V-Force. I'm looking for something with more pop and am considering the S3 bc of durability. He seems to swing the VF quickly enough, do I go with the 29/16 or 30/17?
Asked by murph on Mar 13, 2012
Based on your son's height and weight, I would suggest going with the 29" bat. The S3 would be a great bat for him! It is very durable, light swing weight, and has great pop!

My son is 11 and has loved hitting the Easton Omen. His select league banned all composite bats this spring. He is skinny and has a very quick bat. Which Easton would you recommend?
Asked by xcellent on Mar 12, 2012
If his leagued banned composite bats, the S3 is an excellent option. It sells great, is very balanced, and I've heard nothing but good things about it's on-the-field performance so far. I think the S3 is a great choice.
· Mar 12, 2012
I want to get either the s1, s2, s3, or the Louiville Slugger Omaha YB116. I can hit a home run with the Omen in a game, so I wanna hit with power. I hate sting, and would like a big sweet spot which would be the best fit for me?
Asked by bri guy on Mar 12, 2012
If you have used the Omen with success in the past, I would recommend the S1 as it is the bat that replaced the Omen for this year and will display similar performance and feel.

How big a concern is the vibration factor in S2? For a 9-year-old average hitter, which is better the S2 or S3? Which provides more power and is the S3's sweet spot noticeably smaller?
Asked by brian on Feb 15, 2012
The Easton S2 and S3 feature Easton's Patented ConneXion technology that is going to help reduce the vibration in both bats. The S2 is a two piece bat, which is usually preferred by contact hitters, while the S3 is a one piece design usually preferred by power hitters. The S3 is going to be more stiff than the S2, which is going to offer more flex. The sweet spot is also going to be the same for the two.
· Feb 16, 2012
Does this Easton have the 1.15 emblem on it
Asked by beckham on Feb 10, 2012
This bat does in fact have the new USSSA stamp on it. The middle picture in the left column of pictures at the top of the page will show you the stamp on the bat.

Of the Easton S3 and Easton Surge: which one provides more power? What is the specialty for the two bats? I'm finding it difficult in selecting between the two.
Asked by Dennis on Feb 07, 2012
The Easton Surge is going to be a two piece bat, which is generally preferred by contact hitters, while the S3 is going to be a one piece that is usually preferred by power hitters. The Surge also has an XXL Barrel design that extends the barrel to give it a massive sweetspot and expanded hitting zone, while the S3 is going to be a pretty evenly balanced bat. Both bats are going to have a lower M.O.I, which is going to give you a lighter swing weight and faster swing speed as well.
· Feb 07, 2012
i was gonna buy the s3 and the surge 30in 17oz bats for my boys one has a lot of power the other just makes good contact would those be the best choices for them are what would be recommended
Asked by KCarterJr on Feb 04, 2012
This would be an excellent combination. The S3 is better for power hitters and the Surge is better for contact hitters.
