Review Summary

New for 2012! Easton truly believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power. However, the road to power hitting is different for every player. Some players need extra bat speed to reach their full power potential, while others need more weight and a bigger barrel. That's why Easton is changing the game this season and taking an approach to bats that no other manufacturer has ever tried before. Introducing the POWER Brigade; Two series, one distinct result. Whether you prefer the fast swinging Speed Series or the heavier extended barrel XL Series, POWER will be your outcome. Forget flashy designs and gimmicky names, these bats produce RESULTS. The Speed Series (S1, S2, S3) features the lowest Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) on the market to create light swing weights and generate more power. On the other side of the spectrum, the XL Series (XL1, XL2, XL3) features extra long barrels designed to give players expanded hitting zones and more mass in the barrel, generating more power in every swing. Easton really does strive to fulfill the preferences of any type of player as both series come in two-piece IMX Composite designs (S1 and XL1), two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Aluminum hybrid designs (S2 and XL2), and one-piece THT100 Aluminum designs (S3 and XL3). As for the materials, Easton's patented IMX Composite has proven to be one of the highest performing materials in the game year after year, while THT100 Aluminum provides superior dent and crack resistance. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology and you have a new line of bats that is second to none. Easton: We Believe In Power! This bat is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: great weight distribution tons of pop massive sweet spot nice composite sound when hitting. Reminds me of the stealth speeds.
Cons: Price is a little high, but totally worth it!
by 1112 - Feb 21, 2012
Pros: Bat is great. I've hit with a few different bbcor bats and i have to say this is my favorite. The XL bats are supposed to be top heavy but i really can't feel the difference in it in the speed myself. It's a great bat.
Cons: All good bats come with a price so i don't think this is to too much. remember that you get what you pay for.
by Hitter - Jan 05, 2012
Pros: Feels great, good pop, and I like the grip.

Pros: great bat massive sweet spot best bat on market tried cf5 xl3 both rip its, marucci black, nike m1, and none compare to this one
Cons: nothing
by J.O. - Mar 09, 2012
Pros: I know some people are saying that the XL2 and the XL3 are better bats and that price doesn't matter but that't wrong! This is the most balanced of the XL bats and is also composite so the ball goes much further. If you can afford it get it! It's one of the best out there for sure!
Cons: High price but who cares if you can afford it!
by BigRhino14 - Mar 19, 2012
Pros: Best bat by far I have ever had. I have swung the 5150 velo and i believe this bat exceeds evey bat on the market
Cons: Price
by marshall m. - May 13, 2012

Cons:
by jamie - Feb 27, 2012

Cons: none
by weso209 - Mar 08, 2012
Pros: Bought this and a Rip it prototype2, the Easton is hands down the better bat. I was not expecting the XL1 to be this hot because of the BBCOR rule, but this bat is well worth the price tag. Bat feels and sounds great.A+
Cons: NONE!!
by Brett - Mar 15, 2012
Pros: I got this bat for my first year of varsity. I'm a Sophmore and I don't really have that much power. but with the xl1 I hit bombs almost every hit. well worth the investment.
Cons: first couple times you use it it kind of feels dead. but keep using it and it will def get better

by baseballswag - Apr 12, 2012
Pros: just got the bat and it looks and feels great only got a couple hits wit it yet and im already hittin bombs....best bbcor bat by farrr
Cons: nothin
by Niner - Apr 13, 2012
Pros: Think this bat may have as much pop as 2011 Stealth Speed. Like the XL version a lot. Balance is similar. Cleared a fence today - - - not sure how far, but only two balls cleared it in 20 home games last summer. If you square it up, it'll go. Nice bat.
Cons: Have to use a 5150 most of the time because it's still so cold up north.
by Maverick - Apr 16, 2012
Pros: Nice bat, lots of pop.
Cons: My first bat broke at the handle/barrel connection within 60 days of owning it. I read this might be a problem. Replacement comes without warranty. If the replacement lasts as long as the first, I might be out $400 in less than 6 months!
by PCSDAD - Apr 20, 2012
Pros:
Cons: Rubber ring that connects handle and barrel broke. Bat has 0 pop when this happens. In the thick of Varsity schedule and have to deal with returning it
by Stephen Joans #25 - Apr 21, 2012
Pros: Great pop hits ball hard and you can barely swing and still crush the ball.
Cons: The bat broke in half during my last game when one of my team mates hit the ball =( Other than that the bat really is great. I think mine just may have been weak when i bought it.
by Alec - May 01, 2012
Pros: great pop, huge sweet spot, great distribution of weight, great grip,
Cons: pricey, broke within first 7 games,
by Frizzle - May 03, 2012
Pros: This bat has amazing balance, the ball goes far no matter where you hit it on the barrel, sound good even though it is bbcor. looks really good
Cons: the paint chips pretty easily but that doesnt detract from the solidness of the bat.
by Cooper - May 12, 2012
Pros: Had a Demarini Voodoo in the beginning of the season. Recently got this bat as the Voodoo had little pop and tiny sweet spot. This bat is 200 times better then that and has an huge sweet spot.
Cons: Have no idea why they would make it white. But stays reltivley clean with hot water, soap, and a rag
by mater - May 14, 2012
Pros: Great bat. Great sweat spot. Loads of pop. much better then the s1.
Cons: very pricey but totally worth it!!!!

Ask QuestionI bought the new easton XL1 this year. I've heard that dimpled balls, the ones used in batting cages, are unsafe to use with this bat. Is this true?
Asked by Swanny on May 15, 2012
Dimpled pitching machine balls are known to be very dense and can cause damage to any bat. We recommend that you only use real leather baseballs in the batting cage, or use a different bat strictly for batting cage use.

Which is better 2013 DeMarini CF5 or Easton XL1?
Asked by Huntman on May 09, 2012
Both the DeMarini CF5 and the Easton XL1 are two-piece composite bats that are great choices. They will perform just about the same in terms of pop and performance. The main difference between the two is the XL1 has a slight end loaded feel to it and the CF5 is a balanced bat.
· May 09, 2012
What separates the XL1 from the S1 ?
Asked by Baylee on May 08, 2012
The S1 is evenly balanced. The XL1 will have a more endloaded feel.
· May 08, 2012
I am 5'10 and 13 years old. Should I get a 31" or a 32". Also I am a power hitter would I be better off getting a Rip- It, Easton XL1, or COMbat B3?
Asked by BaseballHitter002 on Apr 29, 2012
And end loaded bat like the Easton XL1 BBCOR and the Rip-It are better suited for power hitters. The Rip-It will be more stiff and the XL1 will provide more flex.
· Apr 30, 2012
I am a leadoff hitter focused on getting doubles and singles and currently have a Z-1000. Should I look into an XL1 or S1 since I'm a contact hitter?
Asked by beastaatbaseball7 on Apr 26, 2012
If you are a contact hitter, the Easton XL1 or S1 would be perfect for you. Both of these bats are two-piece bats that are great for contact hitters.
· Apr 26, 2012
My son is going into high school and is 6' 150 lbs. His current bat is an XL Series, 31" 26oz. He's a gap hitter with good pop. I'm looking at getting an XL1. What size do you think is best?
Asked by Sflo236 on Apr 12, 2012
Based on your son's height and weight, we recommend a 33" 30oz Easton XL1 BBCOR.
· Apr 12, 2012
What is the best bat for a power hitter type?
Asked by steve on Apr 11, 2012
Most power hitters prefer the feel of a one-piece bat. These bats will be very stiff and will help generate more power than a two-piece bat, which is usually more preferred by contact hitters.
· Apr 11, 2012
For a contact hitter, which XL would be best?
Asked by boss on Apr 04, 2012
I would suggest going with the XL1 or XL2. Both of these bats are two piece bats and will be great for contact hitters. These bats do have an end loaded feel. If you prefer a more balanced bat, I would suggest checking out the S1 or S2. These are similar to the XL series, but they are more balanced and are built a little better for a contact hitter.
· Apr 04, 2012
im am 5'8 120 pounds what should i use the xl or the s1?
Asked by monster on Apr 03, 2012
That depends on your strength and swing speed. If you are above average in strength and have above average swing speed, go XL1. If you have average strength or want to increase your swing speed, go S1.
· Apr 03, 2012
I am 5'5 and 125 pounds. Would you guys recommend me using the Xl1, the S1, the 5150 Velo, or the Z1000. I am a line drive gap hitter.
Asked by dodgerfan340 on Apr 02, 2012
If you are more of a gap hitter I would go with the S1. The other bats are great bats, but are more geared towards power hitters. The S1 should be a great fit for you!
· Apr 02, 2012
i heard the bat is now illegal?
Asked by wilson on Apr 01, 2012
The Easton XL1 still meets the requirments for the BBCOR certifications, making it legal for 2012. If we receive word on any changes to the ruling, it will generally be posted on our site under the features portion on each bat page. Here is the link to view more features on the BBCOR XL1. http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-xl1-bbcor--bb11x1-adult/14436/
· Apr 01, 2012
I have a quick question. I am a pretty decent hitter, had 4 home runs in my 13u league using the Stealth Speed -12. The thing is this year, we have to use -3... big difference! Which bat do you think would be best for me, the XL1 or the S1?
Asked by hitta' on Mar 19, 2012
I would probably suggest going with the S1. This bat will be more balanced and will be easier for you to swing since you have to make such a big jump in size. The XL1 has more of an end loaded feel to it, so it might be a little hard to swing if you are used to a -12 bat.
· Mar 19, 2012
Is the bat baby blue?
Asked by carlos on Mar 18, 2012
This bat is not baby blue. It is white and black.
· Mar 18, 2012
What are the differences between the bb11x1 bb11x2and bb11x3?
Asked by Gary on Mar 05, 2012
The materials used in these bats will be different. The XL1 is a all composite bat, the XL2 is a two piece, composite handle alloy barrel, and the XL3 is a one piece alloy bat.
· Mar 05, 2012
I demoed the S1 a few days ago and I liked it a lot (especially the composite feel). Since I am a bigger guy that has decent bat speed, would the XL1 would be a better fit for me?
Asked by grif on Mar 01, 2012
The XL2 is slightly end loaded and would be great for power hitter with good bat speed.
· Mar 02, 2012
I had the CF5 last year and didn't like it at all. Now im debating the XL1 and S1. I've got above average bat speed but would like to increase it. Also is the CF5 similar to the XL1 when it comes to weight distribution?
Asked by wtodd10 on Feb 27, 2012
If you have average bat speed that you want to improve, go with the S1. It has a lower MOI which equals a lighter swing weight. The XL1 will be slightly more endloaded than the CF5.
· Feb 27, 2012
How is the balance of this bat compared to the Voodoo or the Z-1000?
Asked by Nanakuli Banga on Feb 27, 2012
The new Easton XL line of bats tend to have a slight end loaded feel to them. This end loaded feel will give the player more power. The Z-1000 and Voodoo have a more balanced feel which gives players a faster swing speed.
· Feb 27, 2012
I usually get a new bat for every season due to extreme use during the season and I've decided to go with the XL series but I'm having trouble decided between the XL1 and XL2. What's your suggestion?
Asked by Nick on Feb 23, 2012
Both of the bats are great choices and are very similar. Between the two choices, it basically comes down to what material you would rather hit with. The XL1 is going to have a composite barrel, so it will have quite a bit of pop, but will require a break in. The XL2 has an alloy barrel, so there is no break in required and it will be hot right out of the wrapper.
· Feb 23, 2012
I am 120 pounds and 5'5, what size and weight should I buy?
Asked by baseball on Feb 14, 2012
The recommended length of bat for someone your size is about 30 inches. As far as weight goes, if you are looking for an adult bat, they are all going to be -3. This means the weight you will need for a 30 inch bat is going to be 27 ounces. The following link will provide you will all the 30" 27 oz bats we have available: http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~adult/length~30%20inch/weight~27%20oz/approved%20for~bbcor/

I just got this bat. How long should it take to break in and what are the best ways to break it in?
Asked by andrew on Feb 12, 2012
Usually the composite bats will take anywhere from 200-300 hits to heat up the barrel to max pop. When taking batting practice to break in the bat, make sure to rotate the bat a 1/4 turn during the hitting cycle. This assures the composite material on all sides will be broken up to get the bat ready.
· Feb 12, 2012
My son is a 17yr 5'11 168 with a lot of power for his size. We quit using Stealth bats years ago because the pop would always leave after 6 to 8 weeks. Do you think Easton has solved this in the XL1 series?
Asked by jake26 on Feb 01, 2012
This bat will have tons of power and a large sweet spot. The composite material in this bat will last much longer and give you more pop throughout the season.
· Feb 01, 2012
Looking to purchase for my 14 yr old son who's 5'9 & 205lb. Is this the right type of bat (XL series) for a strong contact hitter playing 14U travel & entering HS next year? What size would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Asked by Chi-Dad on Jan 31, 2012
This bat is a great option. It has a large sweet spot and tons of pop. A good size will be a 33 or 34".

I am a conventional hitter who has extraordinary power behind every swing but wouldnt consider myself a "power" hitter (triples over rightfielder, gap doubles, and topspin singles). Which, the xl1 or s1, would be best for me? Also, does the composite barrel tend to last longer than the alluminum (xl1 vs xl2)? I need to last two seasons!
Asked by JoeyPap on Jan 10, 2012
Alloy barrels tend to last longer than composite, but composite bats tend to have more pop. The XL1 is more end loaded than the S1.
· Jan 11, 2012
In your opinion which bat is better? The XL1 or the Z1000?

what is the difference between to XL1 and the S1?
Asked by chops on Jan 07, 2012
The XL1 will be more end loaded than the S1
· Jan 08, 2012
Why is there be a break in period for the XL 1? BBCOR standards disquilify bats that have performance gains through a break in process.
Asked by Hookedup on Jan 04, 2012
There is still just a slight break in, nothing like the old composites. But my general rule of thumb has always been hit a new bat in practice before putting it into a game situation first, just to get a feel for the bat.
· Jan 04, 2012
Im 6'3 and 245 lbs what bat size do you recommend i use.
Asked by ???? on Jan 02, 2012

· Jan 03, 2012
I read on baseball-bats message board in a post by an Easton engineer that the XL1 actually has a lower MOI, or a faster swing speed, than all the Power Brigade speed series bats except the S1. Is this accurate?
Asked by robm99 on Dec 26, 2011
The speed series would indicate the these were created for players that are looking for more control with a lower MOI, and the XL series is constructed with an extended barrel with a higher MOI.
· Dec 27, 2011
How long does it take to break in?
Asked by mikey1397 on Dec 25, 2011
We recommend 150-200 swings off the tee or soft toss. Make sure you rotate the barrel of the bat about a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings to help fully break in the composite fibers.
· Dec 27, 2011
how much heavier does the xl1 feel compared to the s1?
Asked by bronx bomber 14 on Dec 21, 2011
The XL series will have a slightly end loaded feel and the bat will feel about a half oz heavier.

i think im stuck between the cf5 and all of the power brigades (mostly the xls). I would like your input on the s and xls very much. And i also dont know whether to get (if i get the power brigades) the s or xl. Im 5' 9' 1/2 and weigh about 164. i hit a lot of double and had 2 hrs but i also have a lot of singles too. but more doubles i think. i havnt had a bbcor before and im stuck. Also i have had the voodoos in the past and have loved them. if i get the power brigade which would you suggest for me (i mean all composite, half and half, or all aluminum). Anything helps because i am very stuck. thx again
Asked by thtbaseball guy on Dec 12, 2011
