Review Summary
based on 24 ratings. 24 user reviews.
New for 2012! Easton truly believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power. However, the road to power hitting is different for every player. Some players need extra bat speed to reach their full power potential, while others need more weight and a bigger barrel. That's why Easton is changing the game this season and taking an approach to bats that no other manufacturer has ever tried before. Introducing the POWER Brigade; Two series, one distinct result. Whether you prefer the fast swinging Speed Series or the heavier extended barrel XL Series, POWER will be your outcome. Forget flashy designs and gimmicky names, these bats produce RESULTS. The Speed Series (S1, S2, S3) features the lowest Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) on the market to create light swing weights and generate more power. On the other side of the spectrum, the XL Series (XL1, XL2, XL3) features extra long barrels designed to give players expanded hitting zones and more mass in the barrel, generating more power in every swing. Easton really does strive to fulfill the preferences of any type of player as both series come in two-piece IMX Composite designs (S1 and XL1), two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Aluminum hybrid designs (S2 and XL2), and one-piece THT100 Aluminum designs (S3 and XL3). As for the materials, Easton's patented IMX Composite has proven to be one of the highest performing materials in the game year after year, while THT100 Aluminum provides superior dent and crack resistance. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology and you have a new line of bats that is second to none. Easton: We Believe In Power! This bat is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: For a BBCOR it's the best out there. I like it better than the speed version because of the more mass behind it. It seems like it has more pop
Cons: It's a BBCOR
by Sammy Slugger - Oct 07, 2011
Pros: Good pop, extended barrel great sweet spot, good grip, nothing breaks. Overall great bat.

by Tom - Mar 14, 2012
Pros: Just started using this bat for my JV season and I cannot tell the difference between this and BESR. Great Pop, the ball jumps off the bat extremely well, definite sweetspot. Today I hit a line shot Triple over the CF the hardest ball I ever hit, it travaeled about a good 380. My buddy also used it and he hit a monster shot down the line. Great bat.
Cons: It is white and therefore stains easily.
by HHS T-Bred - Jan 25, 2012
Pros: I went to the batting cages with this bat and every hit/ linedrive I hit was perfectly on the sweetspot. love how it has an extended sweet spot!! i was hitting at 70 and 80 and all landed in the middle very impressed.
Cons: nothing
by Panama City High Schooler - Jan 26, 2012
Pros: Ball fly's off the barrel, hardly any vibration and the best grip.
Cons: A little on the end heavy, but i like it. If you want more balance get the S series but it has a smaller barrel.
by Jacob - Feb 07, 2012
Pros: it has a lot of pop for a BBCOR
Cons: since it has more mass, its pretty top heavy, so it would be a good idea to get this bat one size smaller.
by insanity - Apr 13, 2012
Pros: good pop before its broken, good feel, great grip!

Cons: It's a 2 month bat..
by thesitch - Mar 14, 2012

Cons: somewhat top heavy. Not as good as besr.
by RedSox 1912 - May 01, 2012
Pros: Has outstanding pop, balanced very good, end loaded which I like, overall BEST BAT I've EVER USED!
Cons: Nothing
by President - May 02, 2012
Pros: It flows even if you swing late it carries through and takes the ball opposite. Smooth swing, Nice pop, and dosn't flex much.
Cons: None.
by Osito33 - Apr 15, 2012
Pros: my 13 year son likes the swing weight and the fact it is end loaded for power hitters. He has hit the ball very well. he has used the bat in 12 practices and two tourneys and today the bat sounded dead. I noticed the handle was loose and was turning inside the barrel. Calling warranty dept. tomorrow. I will post how the experience goes and how fast he gets a replacement.
Cons: the bat failed in 4 weeks. My sons takes very good care of his equipment. only hitting real baseballs. this is his personal bat and not a team bat.
by TKG5 - Apr 20, 2012
Pros: Im sick of everyone saying how bad BBCOR is. Honestly its making the sport safer and it makes us better as players becuase now you don't have people swinging the bat halfheartedly and still hitting the ball over the fence. Now you have to actually swing it and now if you do go pro the transition is not so drastic. This bat though is great. Caters to my type, i thought i would need a speed series one but this is great cause i must already generate a lot of bat speed and the extended sweet spot helps me a lot. So if you swing the bat fast, but need more sweet spot then get this bat, but i would suggest feeling the other bats Easton has released.
Cons:
by Franny - Dec 14, 2011
Pros: Decent pop, large barrel, better than the speed. If you weight more than 150 or so get the Xl2..the speed series is too light and barel is small.
Cons: Wish it had a little more weight towards the end, I'm 148 pounds and got the 33 and it feels too light. I seriously wish I got the 34

What bat is better for powere hitters looking to get doubles and triples, the XL2 or XL3?
Asked by robinson on May 01, 2012
The Easton XL3 would be a great bat for a power hitter. The XL2 is a great bat as well, but the two-piece design of this bat is more preferred by contact hitters.
· May 01, 2012
I'm 15 years old (turning 15 on the 11th of May) and weigh about 151 pounds. I have a 33 inch Easton XL2 and my coach says I should use a 32 inch bat. But I don't want to spend 300 dollars on another bat. Do you think that I should switch to a 32 inch bat or keep swinging a 33 inch bat?
Asked by RedSox 1912 on May 01, 2012
If you are comfortable swinging a 33" Easton XL2 BBCOR and you have good bat speed, there really isn't a reason to change. If you need to increase your bat speed the 32" would be a better choice.
· May 01, 2012
Is the feel of this bat similar to the Easton Surge? I bought an S2 and it broke, so I am wondering if I should stick with the S2? I hit well with a Surge.
Asked by Swingman4 on Apr 29, 2012
Your Easton S2 should be covered under Easton's manufacturer's warranty and Easton can be reached at 1-888-259-1297. The Easton S2 and the Easton XL2 bats are very similar to the Surge as they are all two-piece hybrid designs. The Easton XL2 has a longer barrel than the S2, so it has a heavier swing weight than the S2 but it will have a similar feel to the Easton Surge.

Is the center rubber piece that connects the 2 pieces a problem if it has come loose and is not connected at all?
Asked by bcmvp25 on Apr 28, 2012
No, that will not hinder the performance of the bat.

is the XL2 any better than the XL3 based on performance? And which of these two bats is most like the original Stealth?
Asked by pigpen27 on Apr 25, 2012
The XL2 and XL3 are very close to each other in terms of performance. Based on Easton's bat hierarchy, the XL2 is a bit better. The XL1 will be most similar to the original Stealth

I got the XL2 back in the fall, but have struggled with the end loading and now it has a rattle. Can I send it back for a S1?
Asked by Girth on Apr 17, 2012
Easton offers a one year manufacture's warranty for the Easton XL2 BBCOR. They provide a one time replacement of the same bat. Please contact Easton at 1-888-259-1297 for warranty information.

I'm a sophomore batting fourth and I want the best bat out there. I tried this in practice feels good and a lot of pop. Which is the best bat for power hitters?
Asked by Gribbs on Apr 11, 2012
Bats that are end loaded like the Easton XL2 BBCOR are great for power hitters. Some power hitters prefer one piece bats like the Easton XL3 BBCOR.
· Apr 11, 2012
If I hear a little rattling noise in my XL2 does it mean it is broken? This is only after about 70 swings.
Asked by Carter on Apr 10, 2012
Typically the rattling you are hearing is from a piece of glue or epoxy that was used to secure the end cap onto the bat that has broken off and is trapped inside the bat. This rattling is not something that will affect the life or performance of the bat.
· Apr 10, 2012
What is better for a power hitter thats 5ft 8 185 pounds this bat or the Easton Omen???
Asked by mikey on Apr 08, 2012
If you are looking for a power hitter that has a good swing, I would probably go with the XL2. This bat has a little bit of an end loaded feel that most power hitters prefer. However, if you are not used to an end loaded bat, or prefer a more balanced bat, then the Omen is the way to go. You can't really go wrong with either bat.
· Apr 08, 2012
I am considering the XL2 and the Rawlings Machine. I am a 5'10" 145 pound freshman on my highschool team and hit leadoff and I am pretty well rounded between contact and power. What would you recommend?
Asked by AJ on Apr 04, 2012
I would probably suggest going with the XL2. This bat is great for contact hitters and power hitters. The two piece design will help you on the contact/gap hitter side, while the end loaded feel will help you generate more power as well. The Rawlings Machine is a good bat, but is more geared towards just power hitters.
· Apr 04, 2012
Right now I'm in between this bat and the Marucci Black. I am the lead off hitter on my freshman high school team with great bat speed. I am 5'8", 130 LBS, any recommendations?
Asked by Jack on Apr 03, 2012
Both of these are going to perform very similarly and are great bats. The choice comes down to whether or not you would like a balanced or an end loaded bat. The Marucci Black is a pretty balanced bat, while the XL2 has an end loaded feel to it. Depending on what kind of bat you like to hit with, both are great options and you can't really do wrong with either!
· Apr 03, 2012

How would you break in this bat for the most pop?
Asked by money ball on Mar 28, 2012
This bat has an alloy barrel and does not require a break in. Only bats with composite barrels will typically require a break in. This bat should be hot right out of the wrapper!

Whats the difference between the bb11x2 and the bb11x3? Just price or what?
Asked by Batman on Mar 25, 2012

My son just turned 16YO and is 6'0", weighs about 170LBS, he is tall and lanky with some meat on him vs. totally buff. Would you recommend he stay with a 33 -3 or go up to 34-3 on the XL 1 or 2
Asked by Baseballnut on Mar 20, 2012
Based on his height and weight, I would suggest staying with the 33 inch. However, if he feels comfortable swinging a 34 inch bat he can certainly go that route too. You will also have to keep in mind that the XL series does have a slight end loaded feel so that will make it feel a little heavier too.
· Mar 20, 2012
Why is the XL3 better for power hitters than the XL1 if the XL1 is a two piece composite bat, and the XL3 is a single piece bat?
Asked by Katz on Mar 20, 2012
There is not rule that says power hitters have to use a one piece bat. However, most power hitters don't need the flex that a two piece bat provides.
· Mar 20, 2012
I am 5-9 194 pounds. I have a quick bat, and I hit for a high average and a lot of power. Would you recommend the XL1 or XL3?

Asked by BaseballKing on Mar 15, 2012
If you have above average swing speed and good strength, the XL2 would be a great bat for you. Based on your height and weight, a 30 inch 27 ounce model would be recommended.

Will the use of the "Tuff Sleeve" on my son's new XL2 protect it enough to use it in a batting cage with the dimpled balls?
Asked by SMiller on Mar 14, 2012
Even with a bat sleeve, we still recommend you stay away from those dimpled pitching machine balls. Bat sleeves may help a little bit, but after repeated use in the cage, those balls can still be detrimental.

Which bat is better for a contact hitter with some power, XL2 or TPX Z1000?
Asked by Wes on Mar 11, 2012
If you are looking for more power, the TPX Z-1000 might generate a little more, since it is a stiff one piece design. One piece bats are usually preferred by power hitters. However, the Easton XL2 would be a great bat for a contact hitter since it is a two piece design. The endloaded feel of the XL2 would help generate more power as well. Both are great bats and you can't really go wrong with either!
· Mar 11, 2012
What is the main difference between the XL1 and the XL2?
Asked by thunder 23 on Mar 07, 2012
The Easton XL1 is a two piece full composite bat. This bat will require a break in and will perform better over time the more you use it. The Easton XL2 is a two piece bat as well, but it has an alloy barrel and a composite handle. This bat will not require a break in and will perform best right out of the wrapper.

Which bat is the most like the SV12? My son had great luck with that bat. It was a 33-31 so if getting an XL would you get that size or go up a size since he's a year older?
Asked by cg on Mar 01, 2012
The biggest difference between the two bats is the XL2 is end loaded. The SV12 is more balanced. If your son is strong, then the XL2 would be a great fit. Otherwise, we would suggest the Easton S2 BBCOR: BB11S2 Adult

I am 5'3" and 95 pounds, make very good contact, but don't swing all that hard. Would you still recommend this bat for me?
Asked by baseball4life on Feb 10, 2012
The Easton XL2 BBCOR: BB11X2 is going to be an endloaded bat designed more for power hitters. Since you are more of a contact hitter, I would suggest the Easton S2 BBCOR: BB11S2. It is going to be a more balanced bat and suited more for a contact hitter.
· Feb 11, 2012
Hey, Im looking for a new BBCOR bat that has great power and durability. Which would you recommend, the Easton XL2 or the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo?
Asked by metsfan22 on Feb 07, 2012
Both the Easton XL2 and the DeMarini Voodoo are going to be great bats and are very comparable. The Easton XL2 is going to have an expanded hitting zone and more mass in the barrel, which will generate more power in every swing. The DeMarini Voodoo is going to feature DeMarini's newest technology known as the Taper ring, which will put weight closer to the taper rather than in the barrel and help keep your swing speed at it's fastest. I don't think you could really go wrong with either bat.

Asked by Chris on Jan 27, 2012
You would probably want to look at the Easton S2 instead. The XL2 is going to be weighted in the barrel, which have an effect on your swing if you are already dropping your hands. The S2 is going to help drive the ball and develop better swing speed.

Asked by fsubaseball12 on Jan 09, 2012

I'm torn between this bat and the S2 because I hit line drives but I also hit for power but when I hit for power I hit a line drive that carries, not a towering fly ball. Which bat would be best for me or would the black marucci be an even better choice? Also I used to use the surge before these new rules and I liked the way it was weighted.
Asked by Matt on Dec 03, 2011
I would go with the XL2, it is geared to get more distance behind the bat even if it is line drives. The S2 is mainly for players to get more bat speed

looking for a stiff handle bbcor bat. what is better the new rawlings (2012) 5150 or this easton bat, for a power hitter? Do not like the flex handle bats.
Asked by Gary on Dec 02, 2011
I would do the XL3 if you want a stiff handle.
· Dec 02, 2011
Would u recommend xl2 for my son he 5'5 & 145lb & which sizes 14yrs old.
Asked by Jew on Nov 29, 2011
The XL series is going to be more for a power hitter. The S series is going to be more for a contact hitter. Based off your sons height and weight, I would suggest a 31 inch bat.
· Nov 29, 2011
Hi i'm 5'4" and 146lbs. I'm afreshman in high school. I hit alot of doubles, but not very many homeruns. Should i get the S2 or the XL2?
Asked by spencer on Nov 24, 2011
The Xl2 would be a good one for you.
· Nov 25, 2011
Is the composite material used in the XL1 the best material out there?
Asked by ?????? on Nov 23, 2011
It is an awesome new material that is really proving to have great pop!
· Nov 25, 2011
Im deciding between the XL1 and the XL2. What will help me make my final decision?
Asked by Helpme on Nov 22, 2011
The XL1 is a two piece composite while the XL2 is considered a "hybrid" since it has a composite handle and alloy barrel. Generally, composite barrels out perform alloy barrel bats after they are broken in.
· Nov 22, 2011
How do I know if I should get a composite bbcor or a hybrid bbcor?
Asked by JustBats24/7 on Nov 22, 2011
What preferences do you have? Do you like end weighted or balanced bats. What type hitter are you, power hitter? The Easton XL2 is an awesome bat! It is a two piece and slightly end weighted. Mass=Power.
· Nov 22, 2011
What are the pros and cons of an all composite bat vs something different?
Asked by Yaboy on Nov 22, 2011
Composite bats tend to have more pop because composite materials are like trampolines. The more you use them the farther the bat bounces off the bat. An all alloy bat will perform the same way throughout the lifetime of the bat.
· Nov 22, 2011
If the XL2 is a bat for contact hitter then why is it in the XL series?
Asked by BDawg on Nov 22, 2011
It has the extended barrel for a bigger hitting surface. With the slight end weighting as you come around the weight at the end transfers the power.
· Nov 22, 2011
Will a composite barrel or an aluminum barrel bbcor have more pop?
Asked by bartender on Nov 21, 2011
Typically composite bats have more pop.
· Nov 22, 2011
I'm a fifteen year old 6'5", 240 power hitter, and I'm considering buying either the XL1 or XL2. I have swung stealths with alloy barrels and stealths with composite barrels and got a lot more pop and durability out of the alloys. Will this translate to these new "power brigade" bats or will the XL1 really produce considerably power and durability? Thanks.
Asked by wnhs_swag on Nov 21, 2011
If you prefer alloy bats and you are a power hitter I would recommend the XL3. It is a one piece all alloy, that is end loaded. The XL2 is more for contact hitters.
· Nov 22, 2011
Considering that the XL2 is a two piece bat, is it still geared for a power hitter?
Asked by LuvinIt on Nov 21, 2011
Two piece bats are usually geared toward contact hitters. The XL3 is more for power hitters.
· Nov 22, 2011
is there going to be a difference in swing speed between the xl2 and the xl3?
Asked by anonymous on Nov 21, 2011
If you want a quicker bat speed, look into the Easton S2.
· Nov 21, 2011
I'm deciding between the XL2 and the S2. I'm a smaller guy, but I swing for power more often than not. Swung a 34 Omaha BESR last year but will be switching to a 33, which is why I was leaning towards the XL2 for the extra mass, but I wouldn't want it to be too heavy. Also, do you think two piece and single piece make that much of a difference? (S3, XL3) Thanks
Asked by Francis on Nov 19, 2011
I would probably go with the XL2, it will give you increased pop without slowing down your bat speed. There is not a huge difference between the one piece and the two piece design from the easton models.
· Nov 19, 2011
My son is 5'9" and weighs 125 lbs. at age 12. He is a power hitter and has used all DeMarini CF4 bats to date. We have to invest into a BBCOR bat for him and I'm interested in looking at this bat versus the Demarini CF5.
Asked by Mike on Nov 14, 2011
I lean a little more to the BB11S1 for him. With him being just 12 and jumping from a youth big barrel to a BBCOR that is a big jump and the S1 is specifically designed to swing lighter.
· Nov 14, 2011
Out of all the new easton bats, which one hits the ball the farthest?
Asked by joe on Nov 12, 2011
That just depends on what the player prefers, the way easton made the three models was to get one that fits different types of hitters.
· Nov 12, 2011
is this bat like the easton stealth speed (but probably with less pop)
Asked by multarguy on Nov 07, 2011
This is a very good bat with tons of POP. This is 100% composite just like the Stealth was.

I'm 5'7" and about 190 lbs and i consider my self to be a power hitter. Where I live it is very cold during my season would this be a good bat for me?
Asked by Hammett35 on Nov 05, 2011
This bat will have an end-loaded feel which makes it a good choice for stronger hitters. Try not to use it too much when it's below 55 or 60 degrees.
· Nov 06, 2011
I'm not necessarily tha biggest and strongest player on my team but I have the fastest bat on the team. Should I go with a XL or Speed bat?
Asked by AJ on Oct 29, 2011
The Speed series may be easier for you to swing based on your style of play. The XL will be more end-loaded and may slow your swing speed down a little.
· Oct 30, 2011
Would you recommend the S2 for contact hitters rather than this bat?
Asked by Wes on Oct 29, 2011
The S2 is a good model for people who are trying to generate more bat speed. The XL2 is going to be a good model if you are trying to get more pop off of the bat.

Ok, so im 15, about 220 and 5'10, what bat would be better the xl2 or xl3? Speed series?
Asked by Cbris on Oct 16, 2011
That comes down to your preference. The XL3 is a one-piece bat that will be a little stiffer than the XL2 which is a two-piece bat. Power hitter traditionally lean towards a stiffer bat (like the XL3). If you're a strong, power hitter with good bat speed the XL3 may be more beneficial.
· Oct 17, 2011

What is the advantage of an all composite bat? Is it worth an extra $100?
Asked by Mils on Oct 05, 2011
Composite bats tend to have more pop because they get hotter the more you use them. An alloy bat is going perform the same through the life span of the bat.
· Oct 05, 2011
My son swung the Stealth Speed. He has yet to get comfortable with a BBCOR.Which of these power brigade would you reccommend that would swing most like the Stealth Speed?
Asked by Baseball Dad on Oct 04, 2011
The new Easton S1 BBCOR: BB11S1 Adult bat will be the most similar to the old Stealth Speed in terms of balance, swing weight and construction. Currently, we do not have any BB11S1 bats in stock, but we expect to receive some mid-October.
· Oct 04, 2011
This one, the XL2 would have a similar feel to the Stealth Speed.
· Oct 04, 2011
Does the hybrid design have an advantage? What is the reasoning behind a composite handle and alloy barrel? Is the full composite or full alloy better than the hybrid? Thanks
Asked by Jk on Oct 02, 2011
Using a composite handle and alloy barrel will give the player some flex unlike an all allooy barrel which will be much stiffer. The all alloy bats are normally used by power hitters.
· Oct 03, 2011

Which has more pop , this one or XL1? or other BESR Easton bat?
Asked by YOUTH-K on Sep 21, 2011
Any old BESR bat will perform better than a BBCOR. The BBCOR standard was put in place to limit the performance of bats. That was because most BESR bats out there were exceeding teh performance limits that had been set in place.
