Review Summary

Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2: SL11EX2 Senior League
4.8 based on 25 ratings. 25 user reviews.

The SL11EX2 features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and is legal for play in 2012. Louisville Slugger is proud to present the latest addition to the EXOGRID line, the EXOGRID2. The EXOGRID2 features a brand new aluminum alloy exclusive to Louisville Slugger. The AC21 Scandium Alloy gives this bat extra pop, durability, and stiffness helping make it the best EXOGRID yet. The EXOGRID2 features Carbon Composite inserts. First, metal is trimmed in a grid pattern, then replaced with carbon composite inserts that are several times stronger and lighter than the metal they replace. The last thing you want at the moment of contact is for your bat handle to flex. When the handle flexes, the barrel can't. That reduces your trampoline effect. A stiff handle produces more barrel flex, resulting in maximum trampoline effect and, ultimately, greater performance. The EXOGRID Bi/Fusion Process uses a combination of heat and extreme pressure. This process ensures the sleeve inserts and metal wall are bonded to function as a single unit. The heart of the EXOGRID is the carbon sleeve which provides greater handle stiffness than aluminum alone ever could. Unidirectional fibers run the full length of the handle. AC21 Scandium combined with composite material ensures thin walls, outstanding durability and unmatched performance. Stiffness X Strength = Power and Performance. Free Shipping!

Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2: SL11EX2 Senior League

by mattIam30 - Dec 02, 2011

Pros: This bat was amazing for my son last summer. Glad it is USSSA stamp for 2012 use. He is only average size 5'4 and 120 lbs but hit 19 HRs last year (8 in Cooperstown), not bad for a middle infielder type player and not a typical masher.

Cons: It does dent up/flat spots after a solid season of use but it does produce.

Ask Question

26347

I'm 12, weigh 103 lbs and am 5'2". Do you think a 31"22 oz. is too big for me and is this bat legal for little league?

Based on your height and weight, a 31" 22oz bat would be an excellent choice. The Exogrid2 is legal for Little League.

24751

Does this bat have more pop than the Vertex? Please compare these bats! thanks!

Based on customer feedback, it truly seems as if ballplayers are split between the two. The Vertex does have a 2 3/4 inch barrel compared to the 2 5/8 inch barrel on the SL11EX2. Both tremendous pop.

23265

My bat cracked (Exogrid2). If I send it back to you guys am I allowed to get the CF5?

The Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 comes with a one year manufacture's warranty. Louisville Slugger will offer a one time replacement for the same bat. Please contact Louisville Slugger at 1-800-282-2287 for warranty information.

22335

Is it okay to use this bat in 50 degree temps?

THe SL11EX2 can be used in 50 degree weather.

21124

Will the Exogrid 2 be legal for use in 2013?

Yes. I would double check with your league rules, but the Exogrid2 widely excepted. It has the new USSSA stamp with an alloy hitting surface.

16917

In one of the question posted it mentioned there were 2 sizes but there is not a -5 listed for this bat. Please advise thanks

Please see model SL12EX25 for the Exogrid2 in a -5.

16574

Our regulations for 2012 require 13-15 yr olds to use BBCOR certified bats. Is this Bat BBCOR certified? If not which "Senior League Bats" are that are not a -3. Thanks

This bat is not BBCOR certified. Only adult -3 bats will have BBCOR certification. With that being said, there will not be any "Senior League" bats that are BBCOR certified. This link will provide you all the bats we do have available that are BBCOR certified: http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~adult/approved%20for~bbcor/

15589

Is the TPX EXOGRID2 a one piece or 2 piece bat? Thank you!

The Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 is a one piece alloy bat, that features carbon fiber inserts in the handle. This helps make the handle more stiff and produces more barrel flex. A more flexible barrel will help create a maximum trampoline effect, thus helping to increase performance.

15513

It says this bat is legal for 2012...what is the difference between this bat and the new 2012 model? We play on USSSA club team. Thanks

This bat does have the new USSSA stamp and is legal for use in 2012. The main differences between the 2011 and 2012 model is the weight difference, the 2011 model comes in a -8.5 and the 2012 model comes in a -9 and -5. The change in graphics is going to be the other main difference.

15070

I bought this same bat at the end of the summer last year. Is there somewhere I can send it to get checked and USSSA stamped?

Unfortunately since the bat has been used it can not be stamped as USSSA approved.

15053

we've always went with easton bats and was thinking of going with this exo... how do you compare it with the S3 easton

This is a good bat and will have tons of pop. This bat has a durable barrel, balance feel and large sweet spot. You can't go wrong with either bat.

14400

My son plays on a USSSA 11 team. I was considering the Marucci Cat5 Squared -8 Senior League for him this year. How does this bat compare to the Marucci

Thank you for your question. Both bats are going to perform very well for you on the field and they will both be very durable. You can't go wrong with either one.

13924

is this bat approved for PONY Baseball?

As far as we know this bat is legal for Pony, but always check with your coach or league official.

13393

Will this bat be legal in 2013 as well. Would like to get two years out of it. Thanks Bob

It depends on the league if it is legal in 2013. However, the Exogrid 2 will be legal in 2013 for play in USSSA in the 14U and below age group.

13358

How would you say this bat compares to the Demarini Voodo, Easton S2, and Combat B3?

All are going to be very high quality and perform very well. The Exogrid is a one piece alloy and would be best suited for a power hitter. It is much stiffer than the Voodoo and S2. The Voodoo and S2 are going to have more flex and better for a contact hitter.

13286

I'm thinking of gettimg this bat or the b3 I'm a power hitter. what's better 4 me?

Both are going to be good for power hitters. It will really depend if you want all alloy like the Exogrid2 or an all composite like the B3.

13257

my son plays jr.league baseball[little league]his league is ok with composite handles but he must have an aluminum barrel. will this meet our league standards?

Yes, this bat would be legal for Little League Juniors division for 2012.

12979

Is this bat legal for USSSA 14U tournaments?

Yes, this bat legal for USSSA play

12938

How much of a difference is this bat and the Vertex?

The Exogrid 2 is a full alloy design with carbon fiber inserts in the handle to make it as stiff as possible the vertex has a composite handle and an alloy barrel

12370

This bat is leagal for Cal Ripken 13U?

Yes, this would be approved for Cal Ripken play.

12149

I am a 12 year old power hitter. i am stuck between the Exo and the Omen. The massive sweep spot on the Omen amazes me. I used an exo before, and i hit the ball to a 300 foot fence, on one bounce. Which one do you suggest?

Both bats will be good options. These bats have great pop and very large sweet spots. This will depend on what you like. You can't go wrong with either bat.

12006

A friend of mine who coaches bout this bat for his son. He mentioned that it's warrenty is not valid if the bat breaks if used in below 60 deg. weather. He also said that this bat should not be used for batting practice but is more of a game bat.Where can I find out all the information about this bat?

This warranty is valid not matter what temperature you are playing in, if you buy the bat then you have a one year manufactures warranty. we only suggest that these bats are not used in a batting cage, with those very dense dimpled cage balls it is likely to damage a bat.

11487

This bat can't be used this year right? It is not legal?

11405

My Son last year before they put the USSSA stamp on it that I see on it now. It is the same bat so will they grandfather it in for 2012?

10995

I am looking at the Exogrid 2 and the RIP IT Prototype. Which one would you recommend for a 12U player

It is really just a personal preference, I like the endloaded feel of the prototype

10792

it doesn't show the usssa stamp on the picture for both the rival and exo
