Pros: This bat is extremely balanced. I have swung a couple different BBCOR bats and they tend to be endloaded. Marucci seems to have the balance down. Graphics are really cool. I used to swing the CAT 5, but decided to go with a two piece. First hitting session I felt the bat performed better than expected. Similar pop in the barrel to the CAT 5, but the Black has a little more flex. Great all around bat. Highly recommend.
Cons: None yet. Black bats have a tendency to look bad after hitting for awhile. Hope the paint does not chip
Review Summary

New for 2012! Introducing the classiest bat to ever hit the field, the Marucci Black. Combining a longer barrel with big league balance and a sleek design, the Black offers everything players could want in a top of the line bat. Constructed using Marucci's patented new two-piece design, the Black fuses an AZ3000 Alloy barrel with a composite handle. The composite handle on the Black is made extra stiff so that players can hit for maximum power, while Marucci's AZ3000 Alloy is ultra-responsive and provides the industry's best combination of performance and durability. The barrel on the black is made extra-long which results in a larger sweet spot and increased trampoline effect. The Black also features unprecedented big league balance, which means that players don't have to sacrifice swing speed for a bigger barrel. A reduced M.O.I. gives the bat a lighter swing weight for increased swing velocity, and ultimately more power. Marucci also brings their popular anti-vibration knob to the Black which, combined with the bat's two-piece construction, effectively eliminates negative vibration to give players maximum confidence and comfort at the plate. In addition, the Black BBCOR does not use "rings" or "governors" inside the barrel, as these tend to break off and create problems for players. Instead, the walls are thickness tuned using careful attention to detail to create the hottest BBCOR certified bat on the market. Marucci: Taking Baseball By Storm! The Black is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: The black is balanced unlike alot of bats.Good pop, love the sound the ball coming off the bat.A very good price for a bat of its caliber
Cons: none but might chip after awhile
by J-Oaks - Dec 10, 2011
Pros: Just tried this bat today at a BBCOR demo day and out off all the eastons and demarinis and all the bats, the black was the best. if you already have a quick swing, this is the one. It flies off the bat more than any one i tried. I will purchase this soon
Cons: not much people respect marucci as a metal bat, and its hard to find in stores, gotta order it here
by pb23 - Nov 18, 2011
Pros: Absolutely sick bat. Just received it in the mail today. Huge pop for a bbcor, and has some flex to it to. The knob actually works to prevent vibration, and the grip is very sticky. It will take some getting used to, if never owning a bbcor before though.
Cons: none yet

Cons:
by baseball2790 - Dec 01, 2011
Pros: Has good pop no matter where you hit it. when squared up the ball flies. the grip feels amazing and there is very little vibration.
Cons: It is a little more end loaded than i expected since everything i heard was about how well balanced it is but still swings surprisingly comfortably

Pros: The -3 BBCOR Marucci Black is the Cadillac of bats. If you want a bat that is excellent in many ways and demand quality look no further than the black.
Cons:
by I can't think of a nickname - Mar 24, 2012
Pros: -Looks good -VERY balanced -Bigger barrel than the cat 5
Cons: -The Marucci Cat5 has a much better feel when you hit it than the black. There isn't much difference in performance, but the Cat5 felt more like a besr bat than the black. I would recommend either bat though.
by TMAN - Dec 31, 2011
Pros: The Marucci is everything that has been said about it. Ball jumps off this bat, with BBCOR bats you have to square the ball up point blank
Cons: none
by A2 - Jan 08, 2012
Pros: looks cool, great pop, nice sweetspot, balanced, and the grip is amazing, way better than wood. I love this bat!
Cons: paint chips a bit
by LCHS14 - Jan 11, 2012
Pros: Amazingly balanced, Perfect grip, HUGE sweetspot, the sound of the ball coming off of this bat is perfect, The best BBCOR there is.
Cons: Absoulutley none.
by BaseballDad - Jan 13, 2012
Pros: Nice grip, well balanced, good pop, light swing weight and large sweetspot. Size compares to the black BESR Exo-Grid. Moved from a Nike M1 to this and it has a lot more pop.
Cons: None.
by The hit machine - Jan 23, 2012
Pros: well balanced ,good grip
Cons: None so far
by Bomber 16 - Mar 27, 2012
Pros: Just got the bat absolutely love it. Its not a joke when they say it flies off the bat, not with cage balls though. Great grip and best pop in the biz. Amped for the season.
Cons: Looks boring but performance is all that matters
by Bigboss18 - Apr 30, 2012
Pros: This bat is A VERY TOP QUALITY BAT, It has its ups and downs but is a solid bat. I have been comparing the Rip-It Prototype 2 and I would prefer the Marucci Black in BBCOR. I do have the Rip-it in BBCOR and it sounds dead but the ball will fly. With the marucci it feels like i lighter bat but it isnt. very stable and balanced bat biggest sweet spot i have seen on a marucci compared to the Voodoo,Rip-it,OxO grid, easton and out of these five bats i would chosse the the Marucci Black. And the tip of the marucci has yet to come off like some bats. I am stocked to see the 2013 edition of these bats.
Cons: Black paint doesn't look good after a while. The paint will come off if you do not MAINTAIN IT which means cleaning it after use. Cap may or may not fall off. Way to prevent this is not throwing any BBCOR bat that will prevent the cap issue. Sence this costs a Pretty penny do treat it like it is one of your own.
by Bigglee - Jan 22, 2012
Pros: Great Balance and pop. Larger sweet spot
Cons: I wish it had as nice of a grip like the RIP It.
by Big#3 - Feb 17, 2012
Pros: The bat is great, i have really been on a hitting streak and each time i go out to hit in the cage, the bat seems to prove it's self more and more. Love the bat, never gonna go back to demarini.
Cons: None really, when i hit with this, i feel on top of the world, i swung with my cousins cf5, and the truth is, i hated it. I felt like i had no power behind the bat, it felt really light for a -3
by thtbaseballguy - Feb 19, 2012
Pros: very evenly balanced. my first bbcor and i need to get used to it. Much different feel compared to the white marucci. I like how the black one feels more though because of the extended sweet spot and half and half feel. Zero sting, decent pop, but definitely not the pop compared to the old bats (as to be expected). Great look, great, comfortable grip, and i would say good pop for a bbcor. Go check out the easton s1, combat b3. I would say that those this bat and the two others i just said are the most evenly weighted, and have the most pop of any of the bbcors
Cons: Even though the sweet spot is bigger, you still have to square it up in the exact spot to get the sound, feel, and output that you would like. If you hit it in the other spots it will still feel as if you hit it on the sweet spot, but it just wont feel as good as the other spot.
by mazzy768 - Feb 23, 2012
Pros: The black is balanced nicely.I see more speed in my 14 yr olds swing. The ball flies when hit square and has no vibration. The black has a cool solid sound and the finish is top notch.
Cons:
by J-ROD - Feb 27, 2012
Pros: This is honestly one of the best bbcor bats out there . Even for a bbcor it hits beautifully . The grip is nice , and the no vibration thing in the handle end helps a lot . Overall a great bat !
Cons: The paint chipped relatively easy in my first use of it in the batting cages , but hits just as good either way !
by batman - Mar 04, 2012
Pros: got this bat, and first thing I did was go out to the field and took some BP. Im 5' 8'' 150 and I got the 32 inch. Feels pretty balanced. I didn't hit one, not two, but 3 balls off a 300 foot wall, all in the same spot.this is my first Marucci and I jump in it. Awesome Bat. GO MARUCCI!
Cons: paint chipped, but then what do you pay 300 bucks for???
by 44 Beast - Mar 05, 2012
Pros: This bat is a little top heavy. Great pop,the grip feels great and the bat makes a nice sound.
Cons: The paint chips, but its going to happen sooner or later so don't worry about it.
by bomberboy13 - Mar 16, 2012
Pros: The best bat i have ever swung. It has a great feel to it and preforms extremely well. Dont believe the demerini or easton hype this is the best bat ou there. The anti vibe nob is the best and when you hit it on the sweet spot you just walk to third!
Cons: Marks show up easily but non really
by Cole - Mar 20, 2012
Pros: Great pop and feels good I had one break in half and right off the bat when I called marucci they gave me a warrenty form to fill out on line and send in we got another new bat in 5 days after i sent mine back GREAT SERVICE.
Cons: Does scratch easy but when you hit the ball and let your bat go to run all bats get scratched up
by pedroia - Mar 23, 2012
Pros: great bat
Cons:
by dawgcoach - Mar 27, 2012
Pros: Extremely balanced bat. No end loaded feel. Lets you get through the zone quicker. Nice look and feel. A lot of pop compared to other BBCOR. Two piece design with vibration dampener in the knob absorbs sting from off center hits. Stiff flex design punches the ball.
Cons: Black bats look cool until they undergo a lot of use. Curious to see how the paint holds up.
by usbjeff - Apr 05, 2012
Pros: great balance seems to have good pop with good sweet spot. So far so good for our first Marucci.Only time will tell.
Cons: first one we purchased cracked with in 40 cuts at the gages. But Just-Bats got us a new one very quickly.
by CatFan - Apr 06, 2012
Pros: Got this for my son to use for his JV season and he and about 5 team mates are very pleased with it. I am not sure there is much difference between the bats other than how they feel to you. You have to be a sound, fundamental hitter now.
Cons: None so far.
by JuniorBall - Apr 11, 2012
Pros: Best BBCOR bat I have seen. Bat has a lot of pop and my son is really hitting the ball great with it. His team members are starting to use it to.
Cons: Chips easy
by Bonez - Apr 14, 2012
Pros: The ball really flies off the bat. It is very balance Ive had a few shots since i got it i wouldn't want any other bat.
Cons: Paint chipped a little but oh well
by baseball32 - Apr 18, 2012
Pros: honestly who doesn't want this bat soon i will be posting a review and a live footage hitting with this bat on youtube of me hitting with this bat and please view it @TheBigHitsCrew but, overall it has amazing pop great balance and the anti vibration knob makes this bat over whelming also has a composite handle.
Cons: The paint will chip but don't worry it does not effect the bat.
by STUD - Apr 21, 2012
Pros: This bat performs just like an BESR bat it has extreme pop and is very balanced
Cons: none great bat you still get pop off of the handle
by jHENDO - Apr 22, 2012
Pros: high school freshman very balanced swing great pop no vibration had first homer of the season over 361 sign
Cons: none
by Bostons Bombers - Apr 22, 2012
Pros: excellent pop first time i used this bat in a game i hit an inside pitch off the handle/marruchi sign on handle and it still flew a line drive over the ss head...............great weight distribution i have a 32 27 and it feels like a 32 20
Cons: alot of paint chips but that has nothing to do with changing bat performance
by Fuzzy - Apr 23, 2012
Pros: My XL2 broke so I turned to my friends Marucci Black and went 3-3 first game. Great bat and perfectly balanced! 300 bucks is nothing considering it isn't going to break, like most Eastons..
Cons: Grip wears away after 200 cuts
by manzhall - Apr 30, 2012
Pros: It is a beautiful, sleek looking bat when you first get it, and everybody on the team likes this new bat that no on has. Pop is decent
Cons: Must be cheap paint because i've had it sine it first came out, and now you can hardly see the "Black" on the bat anymore. There is scratches everywhere. Has decent pop. Cat 5 is more balanced. This bat would be slightly on the end loaded side.
by JK - Apr 30, 2012
Pros: light
Cons: small barrel. felt weak. not for a power hitter. small sweet spot but good if you hit it exactly. wood is better
by Mason - Apr 30, 2012
Pros: This bat has killer pop for a bbcor bat and has a pretty big sweetspot. Amazing grip, good sound. Hits a lot like the cat 5 but has more flex.
Cons: Slightly end loaded, but if you can tolerate it then its good.
by Anonymous - Apr 30, 2012
Pros: It has great pop and is balanced
Cons: Paint chips
by dsahgdjfjdf - Apr 30, 2012
Pros: good grip, nice feel
Cons: small sweet spot
by Eagle Boy - May 04, 2012
Pros: Balance Pop
Cons: If you are used to swinging a one piece bat or two piece with a stiff handle flex you will hate this bat. The handle flex in this bat is extremely low and every time you hit with it you can feel the barrel bending back. This is the only reason i did not like this bat. I just upgraded from this bat to an Easton XL1 and I am loving it!!!
by Colby Cheese - May 06, 2012
Pros: Great pop off the bat. Always a solid hit anywhere on the barrel. Plus it has a amazing grip.
Cons:
by BIGPANDA5436 - May 06, 2012
Pros: Balance, Grip, Great Pop, Best BBCOR bat that I have used, and I have used the Demarini Voodoo (2012) (second favorite bat), TPX EXO grid 2, and the Demarini CF5 (2012).
Cons: None other than it is a BBCOR.
by black magic - May 13, 2012

Pros: This bat is ok. It has good pop for bbcor. It has a good amount of sweet spot and is insanely balanced.

by yankeestu - May 18, 2012

by mr. clutch - Mar 08, 2012
Pros: amazing pop extremely balanced compared to all the other bbcors definitely worth the price had the 5150 and this bat is way better
Cons: black bats look bad after hitting for a while more exspensive than 5150
by Big DAWG - Mar 11, 2012

Cons: paint chips
by TheBeast - Mar 14, 2012
Pros: Great pop love this bat feels good when you hit the ball has amazing balance nice sound it makes and when u hit the sweet spot you know it, i hit one off the end cap and it still flew off this bat i love it<3
Cons: the grip gets a little sweaty
by Bret (average high school baseball player) - Mar 20, 2012
Pros: this bat is a very very good bbcor. I have hit with multiple bats such as the rip it, voodoo, cat 5, z1000, rawlings, and the power brigade series. The marucci have a very good feel to them and the balls jumps off the bat fast. Im just a high school player here and ive put 4 out at about 375 ft in 3 bp sessions.
Cons: marks easily, little end heavy, lame graphics
by Correa - Feb 16, 2012
Pros: As a top ranked high school baseball player, I would definitely recommend this bat. Great pop and is suprisingly light.
Cons: The grip is falling apart.
by squidward - Mar 02, 2012
Pros: Very smooth swing, and a NICE sweet spot.
Cons: As all bats do, if pitch is inside it will hurt a little when contact is made.
by alex - Mar 29, 2012
Pros: hits well
Cons: paint chipped very bad. Umpires in middle school would not allow me to use the bat said it look like dents to them. Need help now
by UNHAPPY - Apr 21, 2012
Pros: BAT WAS GOOD UNTIL IT BROKE REALY HAD TROUBLE WITH WARRANTY DEPT. WHEN I FINALLY GOT THE BAT SENT IN THEY DID NOT CALL FOR 2 WEEKS WHEN I CALLED THEM BACK THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME ANOTHER BAT UNTIL SEPT.
Cons:
by Dylan - Feb 02, 2012
Pros: Me personaly as a power hitter i prefer this bat over the bats is because it feels great and hits just like a meatl bat the ball really takes off this bat no joke. All hitters should have confidence with this particular bat.
Cons: But then again it isnt quiet as good as a meatl bat you still have to muscle up on the ball for it to go
by pedroia fan - Mar 13, 2012
Pros: Awesome bat, very well balanced. Bat has a solid feel and great swing weight. Since all BBCOR bats will perform about the same don't believe the nonsense out there about pop etc.
Cons: absolutely NONE
by johnny - Apr 21, 2012
Pros: The bat is so end loaded, if you can hit it square, it had good pop.
Cons: Whomever is telling you this bat is balanced does not know what that means. This is one of the most end loaded bats we have ever tried to use.
by John - Dec 14, 2011
Pros: Balanced, Best Pop out of all the BBCOR bats that I tried
Cons: none
by CarolinA BabY ! - Feb 11, 2012
Pros: Good feel when contact is made on sweet spot, the price isn't too bad.
Cons: It's BBCOR and all BBCOR bats are made to perform basically the same. They have pretty much the same pop as well as a small 3 inch sweet spot- all are made to specific specifications to reduce the quality for safety reasons. I'm reading the delusional reviews claiming "Company A's Bat" has great pop(same as a BESR)and another claims "Company B's Bat" is awesome(No different than BESR.) "Company C's Bat" owner claims his bat is amazing, best bat he ever had. Let me sum up why performance can not be better from one BBCOR to the next in Two words-"LAW SUIT" if just one of the BBCOR bats are not identical to the others BBCOR's and a player gets hurt, the Bat Company will be sued for Million$$$. They are all the same and not close to the BESR bats, so stop kidding yourselves -Shop for a bat that feels good in your hands, balanced the way you prefer but forget about looking for pop, it's not out there.
by BaseballMom - Feb 23, 2012
Pros: Good balance, great feel, son loved it.
Cons: Broke on second day of high school tryouts. Bat less than 2 months old. Used a few times indoors for hitting lessons, and taken great care of at home. Hard to find Marucci customer service number, then put on hold for a long time, then told someone would get back to me in a few days regarding warranty. Better service from Easton when we had an issue with previous bat after almost a year of hard use. Would hesitate to buy Marucci again.
by Jazz - Feb 19, 2012
Pros: Balance
Cons: Very average bat--don't believe the Marucci hype
by MarucciGuy18 - Feb 17, 2012
Pros: None i can specifically think of.
Cons: Way overpriced, hits worse than wood. Get the Cat %
by KB24 - Mar 06, 2012
Pros: None.

by DirtDevil - Jan 09, 2012
Pros: The pop is good but the barrel is really small
Cons: The barrel is not long

Asked by Bhan on May 11, 2012
The Easton S2 has a more balanced feel compared to the Marucci Black.
· May 11, 2012
My son, now a HS freshmen, has been using Albin / Marucci bats exclusively for four years. For his first BBCOR bat, I dropped the big bucks on the black for Christmas, 31/28, which my son just finished using during the school spring season. Out of the box, the black seemed a bit more end loaded than previous Maruccis and by the end of the year, he was borrowing a friend's Cat 5 white. Is it possible that his black has a different balance based on when it was manufactured? Swinging the two side by side, the Cat 5 definitely feels more balanced and his black more end loaded. We were surprised. Reading all the responses to Qs, it seems like we might be in the minority. Help! I'm discouraged spending $300 on a bat that he won't use.
Asked by bob on May 11, 2012
I too have heard some customers who say they have thought the Marucci Black felt a little end-loaded, but the majority say it feels pretty balanced. The conclusion I've come down to is, different people have different opinions of what an end-loaded bat feels like. Personally, I would still classify the Marucci Black as a balanced bat. However, the Cat 5 is a very, very balanced bat. If you were to hold the Black and Cat 5 next to each other, the Black will feel a little heavier than the Cat 5. The manufacturing process for Marucci bats is very mechanized and weight distribution on a bat will not change based time of production during the year.

Which bat is more balanced and will suit a line drive hitter more, The Marucci Black or The Easton S1
Asked by dodgerfan340 on Apr 27, 2012
The Marucci Black and the Easton S1 are two of the most well balanced models on the market right now. Both models would be ideal for contact/ line drive hitters.

I am a power hitter, but I am also very consistent at the plate. So I've brought it down to a few bats. This bat, the Nike Aero MC2, Nike Aero MC1, or the Rip-It Prototype 2. Which bat would you recommend?
Asked by Kgar on Apr 23, 2012
If you are more of a power hitter, then the Rip-It Prototype 2 would probably better suit your needs. The Prototype 2 is a one-piece bat that is pretty stiff and is generally more preferred by power hitters. The other bats you listed are great bats, but are two-piece and usually better suited for contact hitters.
· Apr 23, 2012
I was looking at the Marucci Black and the Nike Aero Fuse, I am more of a contact hitter but I'd like to start putting some more power behind that, in the $300 dollar range, what would you reccomend for me?
Asked by Valicate on Apr 19, 2012
The Aero Fuse will have a slightly lower swing weight. If you are more of a contact hitter, I may recommend the Aero Fuse as a lower swing weight may lead to increase bat speed which may lead to more power.
· Apr 19, 2012
For a gap hitter would you guys recommend the MCB11 or the Louisville Slugger ExoGrid and also which bat has a lower M.O.I, the Marucci Black or the Easton S1?
Asked by dodgerfan340 on Apr 19, 2012
All are great bats. For a contact or gap hitter, I may lean towards the Marucci Black because of it's two piece design. The S1 will have a lower MOI than the Black.
· Apr 19, 2012

Is this a one-piece or two-piece BBCOR bat? I want a bat similar to the CAT 5 but you don't have the size I need, so I need a bat that's very similar to it.
Asked by Graham on Apr 08, 2012
The Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Marucci CAT 5 is a one-piece alloy. Both are well balanced and provided a lot of pop. Here is the link to view more features on the Marucci Black BBCOR. http://www.justbats.com/product/marucci-black-bbcor--mcb11-adult/14728/

How does this bat compare to the Easton S3, and the Rawlings 5150 Velo? Which bat would produce the fastest swing speed?
Asked by D.B. Cooper on Apr 07, 2012
All three of those bats are well balanced and would produce fast swing speeds but the similarities end there. The Marucci Black BBCOR is a two-piece hybrid bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. Both the Easton S3 and Rawlings 5150 Velo are one-piece alloy bats.

Asked by JB on Mar 19, 2012

Does this bat require break in?
Asked by Mac on Mar 16, 2012
The MCB11 has an alloy barrel, so it won't require as much of a break in as a full composite bat. However, it does have a composite handle and I still recommend about 50-100 hits off a tee, rotating the bat a quarter of an inch in your hands between each hit.

What is the minimum temperature that the bat can be used at?
Asked by Hunter on Mar 08, 2012
It is really not recommended to use this, or any bat, in temperatures that are 55 degrees or lower. Since this is an alloy bat, it can withstand cooler temperatures a little better than composite bats, but it is still recommended to really limit the use as much as you can.

Why the higher price for Black compared to 5150 & Nike M1 when what I've read the others would be better for power hitters than the black?
Asked by Erik on Feb 28, 2012
The Black has a composite handle while the 5150 and M1 are all alloy. It is much more labor intensive process to manufacture a composite bat, or a bat with composite in the handle like the Marucci Black. This is why it costs a little more.

What is BBCOR? Explain please.
Asked by The Game on Feb 20, 2012
BBCOR stands for "Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution". This primarily focuses on the trampoline effect that composite bats create. This certification is required for all bats being used in high school and collegiate play. This certification was created to take the trampoline effect out of the bats and get them to hit more like wood bats in order to level the playing field among all adult -3 bats.

Asked by bombdropper on Dec 26, 2011
Personally, I lean toward the Cat 5. The MSB2 is a 100% alloy one-piece bat which is most preferred by power hitters due to no flex. The MCB11 Black is a two-piece bat which does have a little flex and more preferred by contact hitters.

Again I'm a baseball player entering my 4th year of play and first year of high school ball I'm a contact hitter with not a lot of power. Would you recommend this bat or the Easton S2 for an easy to swing to bat that still has a lot of power?

The S2 is part of Easton's speed series which was created for batters looking for extra control, which may be something that could benefit you. The MCB11 Black has a slightly longer barrel along with a more stiff feel than the S2. A bat with a stiffer feel will give you a little more power. Either one of these bats will be great choices.

Both are two-piece bats with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The Black will be just a little stiffer than the Voodoo though. Based on customer feedback and personal experience, both are well balanced bats, but I would give a slight edge to the Black. M.O.I is difficult to judge as this is not a stat obtained by most manufacturers. Also based on personal experience, I would give the Black a slight edge in performance/pop as well.

Asked by SP13 on Nov 15, 2011
One piece bats are normally for power hitters. I would suggest the Cat 5 as this bat has similar pop to the MCB11.
· Nov 15, 2011
I currently have the Cat 5 but am thinking about buying the Black. Is it worth it?
Asked by SP13 on Nov 14, 2011
The Marucci Black is going to be worth the money if you are a contact hitter. If you are a power hitter I would stick with the Cat 5.

Will a two-piece or one-piece bat perform better?
Asked by rtr13 on Nov 14, 2011
This will depend on the player. A one-piece bat is designed for power hitters and a two-piece is for contact hitters. Each player will have their own preference.

Will this bat be USSSA and BBCOR approved at the same bat model?

Any BBCOR certified bat is also USSSA certified. Please check with your league official on bat rules before purchasing a bat.

Does the MCB11 have more pop than the BBCA?
Asked by bd on Nov 13, 2011
Both are going to offer a different feel when hit. The 5150 is a one piece alloy which will have the immediate pop, and is nicely balanced. The MCB11 is a two piece alloy barrel, composite handle that is also nicely balanced. Both have great pop and a large sweet spot. According to reviews, you can't go wrong with either choice.

What would you prefer, the Rip It Prototype PROB2 or the Marucci MCB11 Black?
Asked by Aka monster on Nov 12, 2011
Both are great models, the Marucci Black is going to be a stiffer bat in comparison to the Rip It Prototype but as far as performance goes they are pretty even. The reviews on both of these bats has been great.

What's better? The Marucci Black or the Rip it Prototype?
Asked by baseballbeast on Nov 11, 2011
The Black is a two piece hybrid with composite handle/alloy barrel. The Prototype is a one piece all alloy. They each offer something different. According to reviews, the MCB11 will be a more balanced bat, giving the player a faster swing speed.

What are the main differences between the Marucci Black and the new 5150 VELO? Are they similiar in performance?
Asked by Pat on Nov 11, 2011
Biggest difference is the Black is a two-piece hybrid with a composite handle, alloy barrel. The Velo is a one-piece all alloy. Both will perform extremely well. Picking one will just depend on what your preference is between one-piece and the two-piece designs.

Overall what bat is better, the Easton Power Brigade S2 or the Marucci Black? Which one has more "pop?" Which bat has a lower M.O.I?
Asked by Joe on Nov 10, 2011
Choosing between the MCB11 and the BB11S2 is more based on what you as the player like. Both of these bats have a two-piece design which helps reduce vibration and a low M.O.I.

Does the knob come off on this one or did they fix it?
Asked by Dborg on Nov 09, 2011
That issue was addressed by Marucci a while ago. There have not been any recent issues with the knobs breaking on the Black or Cat 5.

My son has been hitting a friends 2012 CF 5. We are considering the CF 5 or the Marucci Black. He is a contact hitter with moderate power and hits to all areas of the field. Which bat would you recommend and why?
Asked by TK on Nov 09, 2011
These bats will be very good options for BBCOR. Both of these bats will have pretty good pop and will be very durable. You can't go wrong with either bat. For me I like the MCB11 due to a more balanced feel.
· Nov 09, 2011
I was wondering if I should get the NIke M1, the 5150, or the Marucci Black! Which one would you suggest and why?
Asked by BCB#15 on Nov 09, 2011
If you are a power hitter, I would recommend the 5150 then the M1 in that order. Both the 5150 and M1 are stiff one-piece bats better suited for stronger hitters. Based on customer feedback and personal experience, I would give the 5150 an edge in performance. If you are a contact or gap hitter I would go with the Black. It is a two-piece bat and will have a little more flex than the other two. The Black is brand new but it should prove to be one of the top performing BBCOR bats on the market before too long.

I like the feel of the MCB11. The MCB11 has a very balanced feel and has great pop. The DXCFC and BT0652 have been very popular bats as well. Picking between the three will be based on what you like as the player.

Which one is a better bat the Marucci Black or the Combat B3? I'm a contact hitter, 5'7 150 lbs. I usually hit singles and doubles to the wall. I'm really concerned with bat balance and handle flex. I'm really conflicted.
Asked by Scott on Nov 07, 2011
The MCB11 has tons of pop and has been getting great reviews. I would suggest getting the Black for you as this bat is very well balanced and has a stiff flex.
· Nov 07, 2011

This bat claims to have an extra stiff handle, is it as stiffer than the 2012 Demarini BBCOR Voodoo handle? Is the bat better balanced than the Voodoo?
Asked by kevin on Nov 05, 2011
The Marucci MCB11 is going to have a stiffer handle than the Voodoo, both are going to have a very balanced feel.
· Nov 05, 2011
I'm shopping for my first BBCOR bat. I used the Voodoo VDB11 last year. I've narrowed it down to the Marucci's. Based on the bat I used last year (not a bbcor) which Marucci would you recommend? CAT5 or Black? Also before pulling the trigger I need to make sure the rumors of banning this bat are not true! If they do after buying it do you think Marucci would refund? Does their warranty reflect that? Thanks!
Asked by tdubbsATL on Nov 04, 2011
It depends if you want to stick to a two piece bat like the Voodoo. The new Marucci Black is a two piece, the Marucci Cat 5 is a one piece all alloy bat. Both are very good. These have been approved for 2012. To our knowledge they will not be banned.
· Nov 04, 2011

The Black is a two-piece hybrid bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Cat5 is a one-piece all alloy bat. I really liked the performance of the new Marucci Black and it felt great to swing. It has a little more flex than the Cat5.
