Review Summary
based on 20 ratings. 20 user reviews.
The Marucci Bat Company™ takes pride in turning top quality wooden baseball bats in the same tradition and precise technique of the earliest bat companies. Every Marucci Bat™ is cut, calibrated, balanced, buffed and lacquered by hand. The Marucci Bat Company™ uses top grade Maple billets cut from selected, naturally grown trees in Pennsylvania forests. This selection process insures the highest possible grade of wood for each bat. Due to this state of the art selection process, certain bats do not make the cut. For the first time Marucci is offering BLEM bats that did not meet their standards for any number of reasons during production. Marucci Blem bats can contain any mistake that Marucci made during the production process. This can range from Tiger Stripping in the wood, uneven grain, light/heavy billets, and many other minor cosmetic flaws in the wood. The performance of the bat is not compromised, however, due to their status as BLEM bats, no warranty is offered on these models. These bats are recommended for batting practice and cage hitting, but can be used in games with the hitter's understanding of the BLEM qualification and no warranty policy. The Marucci Bat Company™ bats are 100 percent handmade or turned in small batches from an original design, then finished and detailed by hand. Most impressive is the Bone Rubbing technique that The Marucci Bat Company™ uses. `Boning` bats began in the earliest days of baseball with players like Babe Ruth and Lou Gerig. These Hall-of-Famers would spend hours in their dugouts rubbing their bats with old cow femur bones. Bone Rubbing closes the wood`s pores, compressing it and making it harder. Marucci uses the same technique on their bats, rubbing before the finish is applied to seal and harden the wood. Just another example of how Marucci takes the same pride in their bats as our baseball heroes once did. Experience the excellence of a Marucci Bat. Free Shipping!

by samgonzo - Jul 31, 2010
Pros: I ordered 2 of these bats and, while I'm not sure of the models that I received, took them to the batting cage and boy was I impressed. I don't know the reason why they're blems but they sure perform great.
Cons: Not knowing what model bat you receive.
by Boo96 - Oct 01, 2011
Pros:
Cons: Bat didn't even last through the first game, broke with the first at bat.
by Mike Gorman - Oct 13, 2011
Pros: Bat had a nice feel, the few swings my 17 yo son had with it felt good, however...
Cons: In the very first game my son used the bat, it shattered into five pieces on a pitch that was on the inner half of the plate (not on the handle),it was a good pitch to hit. I'm not sure if the so called blemnish was a defect in the wood or it was cosmetic. I would guess by the way it shattered it was in the wood. My son took maybe five swings in the batting cage prior to his 2 at bats in the game. n

Cons: The Marucci emblem is just a sticker):

Ask QuestionMy summer schedule is all wood bat which demands that I have multiple wood bats for tournaments. Would going with blem bats be a better choice and will it have lesser quality then a regular model bat?
Asked by moose on Apr 18, 2012
Blem bats are still good, quality bats. Especially if you need more than one, they are a great option because they are relatively inexpensive.

how well will these bats do during live pitching?
Asked by Matt on Apr 03, 2012
Marucci's BBCULL bats hold up very well versus live pitching compared to other BBCULL bats out there. These are bats with minor, superficial blemishes that did not meet Marucci's standards. These blemishes are often unnoticeable and will not effect the integrity of the bat.
· Apr 03, 2012
What kind of bats are they?
Asked by siroki10 on Feb 27, 2012
The MCMBBCULL bats can be any model within Marucci's inventory. They are bats that did not make it through the final stages of production due to superficial blemishes. These bats are 100% ready to be used in games and practice.

Will your inventory be restocked w/ 32 in models anytime soon?
Asked by Dicky on Dec 20, 2011
The thing with the BBCULL, is we have no control over those. They are blems, and Marucci doesn't try on purpose to make blems. So it strictly depends on if they have batches of blem bats, what we get. No way to know for sure what is coming in on the BBCULL bats.
· Dec 20, 2011
When purchasing the Bat Pack (Blem) models can you select the slightly thicker handle or the thin handle?
Asked by MDF on Dec 05, 2011
Since blems are just that blems, we have no way of knowing what will come in. So they are sold in groups of what we get in.

Since these are wood bats they do not have to be BBCOR rated in order to be legel. The drop on these bats will vary.
· Nov 15, 2011
why is the blem cheaper than the regular marucci bats,do they break faster?
Asked by jdawg on Nov 06, 2011
Blems are bats that did not make it to the final stage of production due to minor belmishes. They're made from the same wood as Marucci's main line of bats and they don't break more frequently. Because they're marked as Blems, we get them at a good price from Marucci which allows us to sell them at a good price to our customers.
