Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black

by Coach Chris - May 09, 2012

Pros: Got this as an upgrade from CAT5 for my 13yr old. Opened the box on Sunday AM hit the cage before double header. First pitch first hit 330' Left Center. Marucci you have done it again. Nicely balanced bat with good pop. No ping like the CAT5. The ball moves off this bat. It really feels like a wood bat.

Cons: Don't know what to do with all these DeMarini's sitting around the house.

by The Hitter - Jul 31, 2012

Pros: Great Balance has good pop for a BBCOR bat, and a good size sweet spot. Even when you don't hit the ball in the sweet spot the ball still goes flying. Almost no vibration/sting. Great BBCOR bat, it is the best I have used. My rankings from the ones I have used 1. Marucci Team 2. Easton XL3 3. TPX Exogrid 4. TPX Z1000 5. Rip-it Protoype 2 (TERRIBLE BAT, those are just the only bat's I've tried, I'm sure if I tried more they would be higher on the list.

Cons: None!

Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black

by Slacks - May 02, 2012

Pros: It is a very well-balanced bat and almost corrects your mechanics for you when you swing it. It is modeled after the CU 26 wood bat, so it has a different look to it than most metal bats. It has decent pop and is right there with most other BBCOR bats. I have been hitting somewhere around .350 with this bat.

Cons: Mine dented in two places near in between the TEAM and M of Marucci. I got it to replace my Cat 5^2 and I don't know if the bat was weakened from trying to mass produce them so quickly or not. I know its my own fault for not hitting it on the barrel, but I still don't think it should've dented with less than a month of use. It does not have the loud "PING" sound the Cat 5^2 had which I miss, but others might not.

Pros: Great balanced, I was skeptical when I bought this because I was thinking it wasn't gonna be as good as the cat 5 but I was wrong. They are essentially the same bat, only difference is it doesn't have the same loud PING! as the cat 5 but still you can hit just as great with this bat as you guys probably did with the cat 5.

Cons: none

Pros: This is an excellent bat. I bought it for my 12 yr. old son who is in 7th grade and looking forward to playing on his middle school team. He also, plays on a travel team he used the TEAM Marucci -3 for the first time yesterday and he hit two stand up doubles and he also went yard for a three run shot. He loves this bat he says there is no vibration. I will be buying him a wood bat soon and I'm sure it will be a Marucci.

Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black

by Beto Perez - Mar 12, 2014

Pros: Great pop, no vibration, and the bat is somewhat top heavy so if you get it through the zone it helps finish your swing and launches the ball.

Cons: Since the bat is top heavy, if you dont get it through the zone quick enough (which is very easy to do with this bat) you will definitely get jammed. Also because of the white paint job balls will leave a mark on this bat and the grip is very easy to get dirty.

Pros: hits the ball

Cons: much more end loaded than most people say. I had to replace the grip a few times (i bought the same one) because it kept coming loose. you don't feel the sting if u hit it off the barrel but what bat doesn't do that, otherwise it stings a lot.

Pros: Good looking bat with a lot of power

Cons: Poor construction. The bat dented the first time I used it in a game. Tried to get a full refund from Marucci and they sent me a new bat after my regular season was already done. No need for metal now it's all wood this summer so trying to sell the new bat they sent me. This is after they replaced my Cat 5 with this one. They need to go back to the drawing board. Will see how it goes after a full season.

Ask Question

87856

How does this bat compare to competitors such as the DeMarini Voodoo?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black is a one-piece alloy design that has a very balanced swing weight, while the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR: DXVDC is a two-piece hybrid bat with a composite handle and a slightly end-loaded swing weight.

87294

What are the differences between the Marucci One and the Marucci Team?

The Marucci One is the replacement model for the Marucci Team. As such, there are no major differences between the two bats.

87180

If I keep my Marucci Team bat in the trunk of my car when it is under 55 degrees is it more likely to break?

The alloy that the Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT) Black Adult bat is made out of may become more brittle when left in low temperatures. Storage is recommended above 60 degrees.

86923

What's the coldest weather you can use this bat in?

We do not recommend using the Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT) in weather below 55 degrees. Below that temperature, the core of the baseball can condense and become harder and cause problems with the durability of the bat.

86920

I'm 5 foot 5 and weigh 150 pounds. I am a power hitter. Is this a good bat for me?

The stiff flex and alloy design of the Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT) Black Adult make it a great model for power hitters.

86568

which bat would you recommend for me? the black 2 or the black team bat. Im 5'8" 150 lbs and im a contact hitter but I can also hit for power. I normally swing a 33'30

The hybrid design in the Marucci Black 2 will be very fitting for your style of play. The balanced swing weight will also make it very easy to generate good bat speed. This particular model will incorporate an extended barrel, and will produce a larger sweet spot. This bat is perfect for hitters who are contact, but can also produce some good pop.

85402

Why does the 31 in. bat cost more than the other lengths?

The reason why the31" costs more than the other lengths in the (MCBT) is because the manufacturer raises the cost on the more popular bat sizes.

85291

Does this bat have a certified BBCOR stamp?

The Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT) Black is BBCOR certified, so does have a BBCOR stamp on the barrel of the bat. You can find a picture of the stamp on the barrel here: http://goo.gl/pXTVxB

84998

Is there as difference between the black, orange, blue, red and green?

There is no difference between the different color options of the Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT) bats.

84232

Do both the Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League and the Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult have the USSSA 1.15 BPF thumbprint on them?

The Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT) Black Adult the BBCOR .50 Certification stamp and does not have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. The Marucci Team preBCOR (MSBT5) Black Senior League does feature the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp.

84143

I'm 5'8", 110 lbs. and 16 years old. I'm looking for some extra bat speed and pop. I'm considering the Marucci Team or 2014 Vexxum NVS. Recommendations would be appreciated. Also, is this bat a sequel to any of the other Marucci bats? Thanks.

The Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT Black Adult) would be a sequel to the Marucci CAT 5 BBCOR. The Team will be very balanced and have a light swing weight. The 2014 Vexxum NVS will also have a light swing weight and a two-piece design. The Vexxum will eliminate more hand sting and vibrations with its two-piece feel and composite handle.

83898

Is this bat safe to use in batting cages with out damaging it?

The Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT) can be safely used in batting cages or batting practice. However, this bat is designed to hit approved baseballs only. Yellow dimpled cage balls used in many batting cages are not what this bat is meant for. Hitting those type of balls can cause unwanted damage to the bat and cause problems with the durability.

83689

I'm 5'7" and 140 lbs. I'm heading into a league where BBCOR certified bats are required. What would be best for me, 31/28 or 32/29?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult bat would a good choice for your first BBCOR bat. It will feel very light and balanced. The 31" 28 oz should swing the best at your size.

83304

What kind of warranty do you guys have on your bats?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult comes with a full 12 month manufacturer's warranty. Most bats come with a warranty ranging from 1 month to 400 days. The length of the warranty depends on the bat and the manufacturer.

83257

Does it have the USSSA stamp?

The Marucci Team BBCOR (MCBT) is BBCOR certified so it will not have the USSSA stamp.

83103

Does the Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT come in 32 inch 29 oz?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT does come in a 32 inch 29 ounce model. However, this is a 2013 model that has been discontinued and we are out of stock of that size in some colors. The model that replaced the Team is the Marucci ONE: MCB1.

83083

Do they make a Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT in 32" length and 28 oz. weight? Or is it just out of stock right now?

No, the Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult will only be offered in a -3.

82988

Will this bat crack if I use it with the yellow dimpled balls?

It is not recommended to use the yellow dimpled balls that are used in some batting cages with any bat we sell. The bats we sell are intended to hit baseballs or softballs depending on the bat you choose. Structural damage, decreased performance, and decreased lifespan can occur if the bat is used with unintended products. 70510

When will you get 2014 Marucci series?

The 2014 Marucci Black, ONE and Elite are now available.

66667

My 13 year old grandson plays Pony League. Is there a stamp on it stating "approved for Pony League"?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult, and other bats with 2 5/8" barrel diameters, will not have the approved for PONY baseball phrase listed on them. Youth bats with 2 1/4" barrel diameter will need to be labeled "Approved for PONY". BBCOR bats like this model are approved for PONY.

63496

Is the color the only difference between the bats? If not, what are the differences?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult bat and the other colored Marucci Team BBCOR bats will have the exact same design. Also, the performance will be equal as well.

61861

Is this bat better then the 2012 Marucci Black's?

The 2012 Marucci Blacks were banned because they were too hot. The Black 2's feature a composite handle and alloy barrel similar to the 2012 model. The 2012 Marucci Team is a one-piece all alloy bat.

61521

Is this a good bat for someone looking for a little more power?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult features a balanced swing weight that allows a player to achieve higher swing speeds. Increased swing speeds will result in more power for the player.

60733

My friend told me that some full composite bats break in cold temperatures. Is this true?

Full composite bats should not be used in temperatures below 55 degrees. The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult is an alloy bat and can be used in colder temperatures. However, we don't recommend using alloy or composite under 55 degrees.

57968

Which would you recommend: the Team or the CAT 5?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult replaced the CAT 5. The Team uses the same AZ3000 alloy and design as the CAT 5, but now comes in multiple color options.

57815

I'm 14 and 6'0",130 lbs. What size should I get for this bat?

Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 32" model in the Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult bat. For further information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach tool at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/

57034

Will this bat be legal for next year for high school baseball?

The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult is legal in high school in 2014.

56599

I'm a bigger player. I hit for power most of the time. I need a bat that is balanced enough to hit opposite field as I get pitched away a lot. I'm a fan of a good batting average so should I get this Marucci or a RIP-IT Prototype Air?

Both the Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black Adult and the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult are great bats and will be very balanced.

That all depends on what size bat you are currently using and if you have ever swung a -3 bat before. Both are great bats, but I would recommend swinging both a -5 and -3 bat side by side to get a better idea of your swing speed and bat control with each size.

The Marucci Team BBCOR would be an excellent choice for a power hitter.

Which bat would you recommend for a contact hitter? The Marucci Team 2012 or the DeMarini Voodoo 2011?

The CAT5 and the Marucci Team both have balanced swing weights and have a very similar feel.

The Marucci Team and Marucci Black are two completely different bat designs, hence the price difference. The Team is a one-piece alloy and the Black is a two-piece hybrid with an alloy barrel and composite handle.

For an average on base hitter with good power, would this or the Marucci Black be a better bat for me to use?

The Marucci Team bats are a one-piece alloy design made more for power hitters. The Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design that has more flex when swung; designed more for a contact hitter.

28472

How does this compare to the Marucci Black?

The Marucci Team BBCOR will be stiffer than the Marucci Black because it is a one-piece bat. Both are very high performing.

28471

Would you recommend the CAT 5, Marucci Black, or Marucci Team based on pop? I am a power hitter.

All are great bats with very good pop. The CAT 5 and Team models are one-piece bats that often benefit power hitters. The CAT 5 was one of the highest performing BBCOR bats on the market, but it has been discontinued and we no longer have any in stock. I think the Team bat is comparable to the CAT 5, but it will be hard to match the CAT 5's performance. If you prefer a one-piece bat, go with the Team, if you have traditionally used two-piece bats with success, go with the Marucci Black.

28470

I do not think the Marucci Team BBCOR bat will get banned like the 33" Marucci CAT 5. The 33" 30 oz. CAT 5 was the only size that was decertified. Marucci has since done a great job of testing their bats to make sure they are legal for play at the different levels. If the Marucci Team does lose its BBCOR certification, the NCAA and NFHS will be the governing bodies that make this ruling.

25538

Would it be too heavy, in your opinion, for a 13 year old who is 5'3 and 100 pounds?

Based on that height and weight, a 29" bat is recommended. Since the smallest size we currently have available is a 31" 28oz, these sizes will probably be too large for you. However, if you feel like you can swing a 31" bat, then I say go for it! It shouldn't hurt anything.

25537

I'm and 8th grader and about 5'4'' and 125 lbs. and wanting to upgrade from a 31 in. 28 oz. Easton Hammer. Would this be a good upgrade?

The Marucci Team would definitely be a great bat to upgrade to. The Team is a full alloy bat like the Hammer and you shouldn't have any problems switching to this bat!
