Review Summary

New for 2012! Forget everything you've ever known about composites! The B4 is everything a composite bat should be, and more! The B4's ancestors were some of the hottest bats on the market. COMbat has taken everything they've learned after the release of the B1, B2, B3 and B3 Gear to finely tune the B4 and develop the ultimate composite bat! Using Maximum Performance (MAP) Technology, COMbat has created a bat with single wall construction allowing for longer a barrel length and lighter swing weight, resulting in MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE PERFORMANCE! The one-piece 100% composite frame uses Blended Fiber Technology where Aramid fibers (found in bulletproof vests) are combined carbon and fiberglass in varying proportions. The precise angles created results in more energy transfer to the ball and ultimately more trampoline effect! COMbat also employs Variable Stiffness Technology (VST) to give the B4 a HUGE SWEETSPOT! VST works by increasing the stiffness in the handle, which consequently reduces vibration, and decreasing the stiffness in the barrel, giving the B4 what COMbat likes to call a Super Sweetspot Size!! The B4 has an ultra soft feel that players will love and performance that will be talked about for years to come! COMbat: For Players, By Players! The B4 is approved for play in Little League, USSSA, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, and AABC. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: I am 10 years old and I got this bat Tuesday. I got my first homerun of the season with it on my third at bat. This bat is great it has tons of pop. Just wait untill I get it broke in. Can't wait to use it in allstars. This bat is BEAST!!
Cons: The paint is already chipping
by Beans - Jun 15, 2011
Pros: The B4 is true to Combat form. Because of the new LL rules, my son switched to the Omen this year. He did not like it as much as his B3 Gear. We just got this bat and he loves it. He is hitting the ball great and with authority. Well balanced unlike the Omen.
Cons: Although the white grip looks cool at first...it's now more of a reddish white.
by Duke - Jul 22, 2011
Pros: i had pratice today we were doing live hitting. And i was just hitting SHOTS has insane POP i love this bat and i only had it for 2 days.

Cons: white handle and the paint chips very easaly.
by CombatRocks! - Jun 22, 2011
Pros: Great bat--don't see a lot of difference between this and the B3 or B3 Gear--which honestly annoys me that Little League put us all through this. You will love the bat, great pop--all the kids love this bat.
Cons: None
by Big Max - Jul 05, 2011
Pros: GREAT bat. Didn't take too long to break in. Big Combat fan, tried the Grifter (dud) when the B1 and B2 were banned. B4 is better than the new CF5 and it is cheaper.
Cons: All teammates are swinging it. Time for them to get their own.
by black momba - Nov 21, 2011
Pros: great pop. Gives an extra 15 yards to each hit. Almost never gives a vibration.
Cons: none
by Packie's Dad - Jun 11, 2011
Pros: This bast is hot right out of the wrapper. Couldn't be more happy. Was extremely disappointed when B1 and B2 were no longer allowed by Little League. I honestly see no difference when my son is hitting. This is a great bat!
Cons: White grip.
by BigDaddy1014 - Jul 18, 2011
Pros: WOW!!!! Very solid and hard hitting with great speed off the bat. My son hit about 150 balls today and all were rockets. Very sharp appearance and very durable. Quite impressed with this bat. He already has the B2, Da Bomb and it too is awsome. Love ComBats and will buy nothing else.
Cons: Minor sting when hit off the end of the bat.
by Debo3056 - Sep 22, 2011
Pros: Great balance, good pop out of the wrapper, great sound, better than CF4 and CF5 and this is based on actual testing. Swings 1oz lighter than actual weight because of balance.
Cons: None
by BaseballBeast07 - Jul 12, 2011
Pros: Awesome bat. I have the "B1" bat and it recently went on the illegal side for composite bats. For $219.99, I sure hope that this one doesn't turn illegal! Besides that, this bat has great pop, and also has an awesome sound! It's great and it's not even broken in yet! Buy it!!
Cons: It Can chip easily, and it's white handle turns reddish- white.
by Dirtbag Dad - Jun 24, 2011
Pros: So far my son loves this bat, including his team. Better balance than the Omen. Plenty of pop...great sound.
Cons: White grip tape and paint starting to chip.
by finallyfoundit - Feb 25, 2012
Pros: Bought my son a CF5 last year for All Stars. It was a dud out of the wrapper, but it heated up as it broke in. CF5 is a fine bat, but wasn't sure he was taking advantage of the double wall construction. Just picked up the Combat B4 from here, and what the heck? He used a B1 for All Stars last year, and this thing is just as hot as that bat was right out of the wrapper. Does it blow the CF5 away? If you consider he's hitting the ball farther with every cut, then yes it does. Pile driver of a bat with amazing pop!
Cons: none
by Ray Ray - Apr 04, 2012
Pros: My 11 & 12 year old sons had been hitting with the Easton Omen for the past 8 months and loved it. 3 days before opening day this year the end cap popped off..Needless to say bad outing on opening day. Ordered this bat ASAP! (they don't make the Omen anymore) I've heard great things about Combat Bats so i figured we'd try one. AWESOME! Great pop out of the wrapper..heck of a confidence builder. Lighter than it says to be, and it's not broken in yet!
Cons: Everybody wants to use it.

Pros: Amazing bat right out of the wrapper.Just bought it 30 min before my game and first at bat, I crushed one down the line and got a double. This bat is not for bad but for good, consistant hitters.Great POP,and big sweetspot.
Cons: Marks easily, and the worst part is that the bat gets thicker where the C is, and skinnier at the B4 and COMBAT sign.Grip is white ,so gets dirty easy.
by Coach Pete - Feb 21, 2012
Pros: NEW: just broke the bat in, no issues, has great pop, big sweet spot, feel NOTHING but sweet contact when ball gets crushed in the sweet spot, grips are white-but nice and comfy, and you forget the bat is there when you hold it-great balance.

Pros: My son is 7 years old and has successfully bumped up to thge B4 just in time for U-8 All Stars. The pop off of the bat is truly impressive. A combination of the bat and improved confidence are consistently helping to hit balls 20% farther.
Cons: The white grip was white for one at bat. As long as it's functional, we're OK with it. The bat is a hit with the whole team and that stresses the kid out...

Ask QuestionMy son has had this bat for about 6 months and today when cleaning i noticed a lot of the paint is chipping. He looks after his bats. Is this an issue and would it be covered under the warranty?
Asked by Mark on May 13, 2012
I can tell you from years of experience playing ball that paint chips are a somewhat normal occurrence. This is something covered by the manufacturer's warranty, but I always recommend saving your warranty for when something occurs that will actually effect the performance of the bat. You can contact Combat at 1-866-266-2287 for warranty information.

What is the difference between the-12 and the-10
Asked by Big boy on May 06, 2012
The -12 and -10 are referred to as the drop of the bat. You basically figure out what length the player needs to swing, and subtract the drop from the length of the bat to get the weight. Therefore, the -12 would be a lighter bat if you had the same length for both bats drops.

Does this bat have a better pop than the Easton XL1?
Asked by PK on Apr 29, 2012
Both the COMbat B4 and the Easton XL1 are composite bats with great pop. The COMbat will be a little stiffer and more balanced than the Easton XL1.
· Apr 30, 2012
My son used this bat and it sounds different than the metal bats. Is that due to the composite construction? There is a definite sound difference, almost like a wood bat, that I notice. Is that how it's supposed to sound? We were using regulation Little League baseballs.
Asked by Martha on Apr 23, 2012
Since the COMbat B4 is a full composite design, it will have a different sound than the traditional aluminum bat. Composite bats make more of a crack or thud type sound when hit and the aluminum bats make more of the traditional ping sound.
· Apr 23, 2012
Does this bat need to be broken in?
Asked by jc on Apr 22, 2012
Since this is a composite barrel bat, it will require a break-in. We recommend you take about 100-200 swings off a tee or soft toss. Rotate the barrel about 1/4 inch every few swings. Stay away from using a composite bat in a batting cage that uses yellow dimpled balls as they can damage the composite material.

Will this bat be legal in Little League past 2014?
Asked by number 6 on Apr 14, 2012

· Apr 14, 2012
What is the lowest temp. the bat can be used in?
Asked by ray ray on Mar 29, 2012
Since this is a composite bat, it is recommended not to use in temperatures around 50 degrees or below. A higher number of damaged composite bats is reported when they are used in temperatures such as these.
· Mar 29, 2012
What is the lowest temperature the B4 can be used in?
Asked by PC on Mar 19, 2012
Since this is a composite bat, it is recommended not to use it in temperatures that are 50-55 degrees or lower. These colder temperatures can affect the balls and end up damaging the bat.
· Mar 18, 2012
Is this bat going to be legal past 2012 since it has the old USSSA logo? Rules page was a little confusing.
Asked by Mike on Mar 12, 2012
According to USSSA rules, 2 1/4" barrels are legal in 2012 and 2013 if they have the old USSSA mark or the new USSSA mark. In 2014 all 2 1/4" must have the new USSSA stamp.
· Mar 12, 2012
Does this Combat B4 and the Easton S1 have the USSA stamped BPF 1.15 required for youth bats in 2013?
Asked by Ron on Mar 07, 2012
The COMbat B4 does not have the new USSSA stamp. Instead, it has the old stamp, which is being grandfathered in for the 2012 season. The Easton S1 found here: http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-s1--yb11s1-youth/14430/ does feature the new stamp and is legal for use in 2012 and beyond.
· Mar 07, 2012
Is the COMbat B4 equal or better bat than the DeMarini CF4? Thanks
Asked by Nick on Mar 01, 2012
Both bats are great bats. The main difference is the design of the bat. The COMbat B4 is a one piece composite bat, which is usually preferred by most power hitters. A one piece bat will be pretty stiff and help with their hits more than a two piece, which offers some flex when the ball is hit. The DeMarini CF4 is a two piece design, so it is going to be better suited for contact, or gap hitters. With that being said, you can't really go wrong with either bat and the decision comes down to what kind of hitter you are and what kind of bat you feel more comfortable swinging.

My 11 year old son will be playing with a competitive travel team this year for 11U. They will be playing in Little League, Cal Ripken League and Babe Ruth League tournaments. It is my understanding that composite bats have been outlawed with these three affiliations. I could not help but to notice the "Composite Barrel" written on the barrel. In the reviews section for this bat, several customers have said that they switched to this bat from other composites because of the new rules. Is this bat legal for these three affiliations? What's better, a one piece barrel or double barrel and a half and half or one pice bat? Would a b4 be better or worse than a cf4st or cf5? If the cfs are better which one has more pop and less swing? I am a power hitter. Thanks
Asked by cardsfan123 on Nov 22, 2011
Both the B4 and CF5 are going to have good pop because they are both composite. The B4 is a little stiffer so it would be better suited for a power hitter.

Wow, tough call! Both are incredible bats. The B4 is a one piece all composite bat with unbelievable pop and nice balance, huge sweet spot. The Easton S1 is 2 piece fully composite with a Low MOI for faster bat speed. Huge sweet spot also.

I weigh 95 pounds, will this bat fit me well?
Asked by MursesAreMyLife on Nov 09, 2011
There are a lot more factors that go in to finding the right size bat than just your weight. Other factors include (height, strength/swing speed, and what size bat you're currently using). We would be more than happy to help you find the right bat if you give us a call at 1-866-321-2287.

What size for son 4'9" and 85 lbs. His b2 just cracked. Would you recommend grifter or b4?
Asked by Carolyn on Nov 03, 2011
I would recommend a 30" 18 oz bat. If you need just a little flex then I would recommend the Grifter. If you want a fully composite bat I would recommend the B4 which will have more flex.

is the b4 better than the new b3, if so how much better is it?
Asked by dodgerblue on Oct 18, 2011
One think I've heard based on customer feedback, is that players feel the B3 has a slightly larger sweetspot. Even though a lot of people say the B3 has a larger sweet spot, they still say that the B4 has just as much pop as the B3.

If I purchase this bat as a christmas gift how long do I have to return it?
Asked by xhinadoll on Oct 18, 2011
If the bat remains new and unused, there is no timeframe. If you get it now and 3 months from now decide it's not going to work out, you can return it to us for a full refund or exchange as long as it is in it's original condition.

What Is The Best Bat Size For A Kid Who Weighs 150 lbs And Is 5ft 5"
Asked by Grand Slam on Jun 19, 2011
It depends on what kind of bat you need (youth, senior league, or adult). Based on his height and weight, a bat around 32 or 33 inches is recommended. The weight depends on what type of bat your looking for. If you need a Youth bat, then I would recommend something around 22 or 23 ounces. If you need a Senior League bat, then I would recommend something between 24 to 28 ounces. If you need an Adult bat, then I would recommend something around 29 or 30 ounces.

what is the best size for a kid who is 5feet 2 inches and weighs about 90 pounds

Based on his height and weight, a 30 inch bat is most commonly recommended. The weight really comes down to the strength of the player and what weight they're currently using or used last season. However, based on his height and weight a bat between 18 and 20 ounces is typically recommended.
